In this short video tutorial, we would like to show you how to avoid a pretty common issue when working with longer segments of digital pixels or LED strips. Depending on the lenght of the strip and the number of diodes you are powering from one side, it is a good idea to power it from more points, thus preventing a brightness loss due to voltage drop.

sorry im kinda late to the video but, can someone explain why injecting power at the end doesn’t break the cables? because if you plug it in the wrong polarity it’s going to break right?

if you would change + and GND then yes, you would probably fry some pixels. so it is important to follow the correct pinout.

It's practically the same, even easier. Just use cables, not pads.

Can one power a strip from only the middle? I have not found an answer to this.

you definitely can. keep in mind the voltage drop. it can even have some benefits, though from our experience its usually bit harder to do it compared to when you power the strip from the start.

@@LEDStripStudio Thanks. What is harder? Soldering? I think I have the soldering down pretty well. Do you have any videos on this? I may have missed them.

@@DK-vx5co to access the point in the middle of the strip compared to the start. and yes, soldering in such point, when the strip is already in the profile, is challenging - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hup6AJ2_tPs.html - maybe this one, for beginners.

Hi what kind of power source are you using, what is the function of the silver and red box

Hi, the red box is LED Ethernet Controller 3, our device for LEDs, the silver one is standard Meanwell 5V power source.

Silver box is the power source and we use 5V, 150W. Red box is the addressable pixel LED controller (ledstripstudio.com/lec-3-led-ethernet-controller-3/).

Really? You cut the protection, and the strip have connectors on the rear side to do this what you are doing.

In case you need e.g. 1m long segments, you always have to cut the silicone cover (no matter there is end connector at the 5m long segment). What we don't show in the video, we always use liquid silicone to seal the cut part to protect the connections and strips.
