I just learned about you on Thanksgiving Day when my husband and I visited your Jeuf Zone farm near Keur Matar Gueye. I was so taken with your vision and drive I needed to learn more about you. What a spectacular inspiration you are to the entire world! It was no small coincidence I discovered you on Thanksgiving Day. Doing volunteer work with the farmers in rural Senegal was one of the richest and most meaningful blessings of my life. You are soooo right…..Americans do not realize that, no matter how “poor” they think they are, they are enormously blessed simply for having the good fortune to have born in America. We must share that good fortune…..it is in giving that we receive. Blessings to you Thione Niang!

Nama Gilchrist the senegalese’s hospitality is no longer to present through the world and that’s the main reason the slogan “teranga” has been linked to the country’s name But your dignity doesn’t allow you being invited anytime for food and next to this “we” have that attitude to talk bout anything we doing for the good reason to the others and this let people thinking you’re an unable and it hurts to the core for sure and it doesn’t depend on where we living that’s the same thing all over the senegal

We all know how Senegalese hospitality is. But what makes his discours important is the motivation that this discours can give us. He is right and you can pay attention on the year he mentioned; on the erea again. I am telling you there some ereas where people are suffering more than what he said.

@@Sgueye1396 so your point is ? being known for teranga does not exclude that the situation he describes is not an isolated case. i live in senegal and many of our relatives that we support are in similar situation. let me remind that the majority of senegalese people live in poverty; nevertheless we always share the little we have. so why are you being so salty ? make some research and take him as an example instead of making false allegations.

Some our brothers can really inspire people. My question is ; why do our governments in Africa allow new slavery to continue? Nowadays done illegally in the name of UNHzR? Do I see this myself. Or others see the infact of refugees to the western world as an opportunity and the only one way out from poverty?!!!

Thank you for your motivational speech. You’re a role model for this generation but one the other hand you could be more trustful because you were not only talking to those caucasians. Saying hunger killed your grand dad after five days without having a rice to feed him , doesn’t make any sense to me. I was born and grew up in Senegal. Knowing this country and the hospitality, Nobody stays five days with no food. There’s a poverty over there but not hunger. So let’s keep it real brother. Maxi respect for what you have done.

There is hunger bro, you could say that with the teranga lifestyle its not so frequent to see such scenarios, but i have seen it with my own eyes in 2020 in a village in fouta. i saw a poor family starving for days and sleeping in open air in a house with a broken roof. if i hadnt witnessed it i would never believe this kind of poverty exists in our country.

And I'm very much aware of the problems of hunger and other things in Africa, and he shouldn't make it his own experience for heroism, because there are real victims of what he is saying. I'll quote this if it sounds realistic to you. " My grandfather died because of hunger, 5 days we couldn't find rice." People can go whole month without eating they live...I get his point with most of he is saying without the grandfather cause of death, that is off the track. @@famafall9521 I'm senegalese and I agree with you! We are people with great solidarity, so it is hard to believe someone would die of hunger in our land. However, I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he meant malnourishment, for just because one is eating does not mean they are eating well or enough. Plus, just like you and I english is not his first language, and despite his great abilities to articulate himself using it, we both know it is easier for us to slip up using a foreign language different from our beloved WOLOF--Nekal si diam!
