Now you know Curves, use them with dodging and burning, this will blow the socks off your photographs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WBhuS0EfEWk.html
This is the first time I understand how curves really work. Until now I’ve dragging up and down trying to get some cool coloring effects but now I understand when and how to use them. Thank you so much. That was brilliant and clearly explained mister.
I have played around with curves in the past, but really didn't have a clue what they were capable of. Pretty sure I can get a handle on them now with this tutorial. Thanks Colin.
Using adjustment curves in photoshop for years! Always start with that and may use several stacked. They can always be changed. Gives ultimate control over values. Excellent explanation.
I've just done the basic contrast sliders in Photoshop so curves has opened up a whole new world for me. Really it comes down to playing around (a lot) with curves on different photos and seeing what you like. Also it's important to be able to look at a photo and get an idea of what you want to bring out of it or what you want to do to it. I've taken photos already and used curves/contrast to really darken everything except the side of a person's face and use that for a website look and feel. Your tutorial has caused me to go back and realize that I could pop out more facial features and still keep the darkened feeling of the image. Thank you for doing this video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! My wife and I are both PRO photographers, and did NOT know all you have so clearly explained here. I shudder at the excess time I have spent trying to do what you have done so simply here. Even your explanation of input and output was like turning on a light switch for the very first time. We are indebted to you, Sir.
Colin would have to be one of the best, if not the best presenter on a technical topic such as Photoshop there is on the planet. Perfectly paced, concise and clear with excellent reinforcement by way of examples. Thank You.
I have used Curves before, but very sparingly as I didn't quite have a full appreciation of it's full function. Now I know a little more and can experiment with the tool on some images.
So many tutorials out there. By far, yours, are the easiest to comprehend. They are extensive - Which I love- but not tiring, much less boring. I wish I found you before when I was learning Photoshop. In any case, there’s always something useful to learn in any of your tutorials. Even your guitar playing is fun to see. Great work Colin!
I've been using curves for a long time and I picked up some useful tips in your tutorial. There are so many different ways to make adjustments using photoshop I sometimes forget things. I used levels a lot in my processing, but as I learn more and more about curves and it's endless possibilities it is quickly becoming my go to.
Thanks for this video Colin. I learned a LOT about curves. And yes, I am subscribed and have elected to be notified about new videos. You're a great teacher!
I have watched this lesson many times, in fact I open it every time I have a difficult file to process and each time I pick up yet another nuance. It has become the very core of my Photoshop processing.
So far the best explanation and demonstration of curve. I knew you were able to do a lot with curves but most tutorials failed to explain in detail the procedures. Great tutorial.
Thanks Colin, I have not understood Curves before that video was a big eye opener, I am not a curves fan. Thank you so much for explaining it so well. The lockdown here in South Africa is very restrictive having your videos and tutorials to watch and keep us busy and positive and hopefully improved our photoshop usage. Thank you for that.
I have been using Photoshop since it's creation, in a hobbyist way, on and off, but I just learnt something new today by watching this, targeting colours by holding ctrl + shift + click. Thank you very much.
thanks Colin I use curves all the time but its always good to do a refresher on things as you tend to forget certain functions that you dont use that often. I always find it helpful watching your tutorials as you explain things so well and I pick up bits and pieces that I did not know too. I dont comment very often but I do appreciate your great tutorials.
Thanks. Every time I think I understand curves I learn something new. The idea of stacking curves adj layers and doing color and contrast separately was new to me and sounds very useful.
Thank you for the tips. I have not really used the curves as I did not understand how powerful they were. They are defiantly something that I will be using more of in the future
I was previously using the curves (hit & trial) not knowing the details how to use them exactly. Command/control+shift+click and adjusting contrast & color in separate layers are very useful which i learned from this video.
I've never really used curves before because I have never really understood them, till now that is, I intend to start using curves on my daily photos, thanks for this awesome tutorial, wish me luck.
Great tutorial. Most tutorials I've seen do not address the separate color channels. Would also like to see how you use the black/gray/white color sampling tools.
Thanks for these tutorials, I use Photoshop and Lightroom for Property photography as well as astrophotography. I watch other people's workflows and try to use them but they usually don't take the time to explain the rationale behind their actions. Your tutorials enable me to fully understand and optimize the actions for my specific purposes. I am going to go through all your stuff I can find!
I have avoided curves for years - using selections instead. That started because I never could get what I wanted out of curves. It's about time I start utilizing curves to fine tune things a bit more and this tutorial did the trick - a lot simpler than I thought! Many thanks!
Often use curves but just to adjust shadows and highlights. Your video very enlightening, so will view it again now that I know how powerful curve adjustments can be. Thanks and I look forward to more similar videos.
4 years into editing and I'll be damned I thought I was using curves correctly and I find out I was so wrong. I'm sure this will make my photos look so much better starting tomorrow. This and the videos of your I have been watching for the last 2 hours I can't wait now until morning to get into my little home studio and apply everything I am learning Colin. I have been watching other videos and not naming anyone as they are great teachers as well but after finding your channel I have learned so much I believe that this will not have me so scared of Photoshop and I will use it so much more and photos will look so much better. Thank you, Colin.
Great tutorial. I do use curves and knew about the RGB and colour tones but didn't really understand the input output bit. Now I do AND now know how to target individual areas. Thanks for a great tutorial Colin.
Hi Colin, like you say in the video; mostly when I have used curves I've just been dragging around without really understanding the power of it. Very interesting to learn how powerful it is in accurate color editing. As always a great tutorial made in an easy to follow way
The only thing I can say is : Brilliant ! Absolutely Brilliant ! Answering your question, I've been using curves for a long time but now I'll be able to experiment and achieve much better results. Thanks you very much.
Colin you are teaching me and helping me so much. I have always worked in LR with my wild life photography (live in South Africa) and with practice am hoping to get my elephants to a new level.
Amazing explanation to the concept. Your tutorials are really making me understand photoshop in correct and proper direction. So many tutorials but yours are incomparable. Thanks a ton for your videos. Its truly required. Although I just have a concern regarding the visibility of your channel. Why the channel is not so much visible in the search list of you tube? Pardon me if I am wrong, but I am really feeling why I am so late to find your channel.
Thanks for this. I was obviously not using the full capability of curves. I find this specifically helpful for those day images when light is not ideal and shadows are too harsh.
Another excellent tutorial Colin. I always make a mess when I've used the individual channels but hopefully after this tutorial I'm going to use curves properly now.
Great tutorial on curve adjustment in PS! I have been using curve adjustment only for simple contrast adjustment until I watched this video. I will definitely explore more using this adjustment on my photos. Thanks Colin!
Thanks much Colin. Great tutorials. I have several of your courses & find them to be extremely informative & easy to follow. Your presentation works admirably,
Thank you for this tutorial Colin, I hardly every use Curves as I found it too intimidating... now that you have explained it so well it all makes perfect sense and I am looking forward to using it a lot more!
Thank you for providing these videos, you explain and demonstrate things clearly. You are definitely making photoshop less frustrating and intimidating to me👍🏽😁
I've used curves in the past but always drastically. Know over time I've become more precise and controlled. I even use them in editing my masks! Am always learning though!! Thank you
AMAZING!!! So clearly explained-- the best explanation I have found on curves. You understand your audience and help everyone listening to this gain confidence! Thank you!
Catching up on some of your older videos and found this one especially helpful. Best explanation of curves I've seen. Too bad there's so darned much for a casual Photoshop user to remember. 😊
Hey Colin, I learned curves from KelbyOne but your video was very helpful to me. learned even more! I didn't see the link for the panel on the bottom. I would like to use that to help me even further. Thank you for what you do!!
I Used curves before but your explanation will take me a level up so big thanx. Maybe a word or two :) on how to use it on selected area not the whole image?
