I take the brand new Power Pole Move out to the famous Mosquito Lagoon in Florida to test out if this is really the game-changing trolling motor we've been waiting for. Let's see if we can really catch spooky redfish, snook and trout up close with this silent Trolling Motor. The new Move might finally change inshore, or flats, fishing forever.

Thank you to everyone watching and supporting me as I work my through learning how to make these videos. I appreciate the patience. It's hard to say why I want to do this, but the combination of fishing, tech and storytelling just checks a lot of boxes.

Do you have any new feedback on the Power Pole Move after having a few months to use it?

Great question. Yes, I actually do and have been thinking of making a follow up video. Two things mainly - it is not as silent as I thought, and it is much easier to deploy now that the mechanism is a little broken in - just step firmly and it pops right into your hand. If you are a shallow water sight fisherman, like me, I fear that speeds above 3 are putting fish on alert. There is an audible vibration you can hear if you listen carefully. I had a GoPro fall in the water and when watching the video back I could definitely hear it on 4. So 3, or 2, are really good speeds for sight fishing if there is little or no wind. If there is wind you will need 4,5,6 or even 7 to move forward. So ... hungry, aggressive hunting, fish can be still be fooled up close on a windy day, but not your average fish. They are nervous or on the move by the time I see them. But you know what, I'm still not polling by myself. I'll just make nice long blind cast and catch them that way!

Wow, that is very kind of you to say. I find it very difficult to make RU-vid videos, vs. TikTok and IG stuff, but I am working hard to improve. Thank you for the encouragement!

If you mounted it on the other side like most people do, the deploy foot pedal would be correct

Funny enough I had the chance recently, on another boat build, to make the decision again and I still put it on the right. After almost a year of use now I am very adept at deploying and stowing using only my right hand and right foot. In some of my videos you will see me stowing the motor this way while fighting bigger fish so I don't break them off on the motor. I don't think I would have the coordination to do that with my left hand since it does involve aligning the motor with the cradle while pulling up. In addition as someone who also likes to fly fish I strip with my left hand so I like knowing the motor is on the opposite side of the bow so the fly line doesn't tangle on it. This video was shot during my first time ever using the motor and I was figuring things out. Stowing and deploying is an absolute piece of cake now, it might be the Move's best feature actually.

What’s the optimal shaft length for your skiff?
@LynxAngler
@LynxAngler 2 месяца назад
That's a great question. I went with the shortest possible (45") because my skiff is small and I fish in very shallow water. It would be too shot if my boat was a little taller out of the water and I needed it to hold me in any kind of waves or serious chop. As is I have never needed to lower it all the way. I've been recently testing a Motor Guide Xi3 with a 54" shaft and if I am standing flat on the deck of the skiff I sometimes hit the motor with my fishing pole - especially on hook sets. If I am on a platform or cooler then I clear over the top. The other consideration is how far it sticks outside of the boat when stowed - depending on the mounted angle. So when you are coming into a dock you may end up bouncing the head off the dock if it is sticking out too far.

Nice video. I just installed a PP Move on my flats skiff last week. I made the commitment to relocate it to the Port side due to the deeploy lever issue you mentioned. One question, mine with run up to level 15 on my current 2 AGM batteries. Does yours go to level 17? What batteries do you have?
@LynxAngler
@LynxAngler Год назад
Thank you. Yes mine goes to 17 on my single lithium 24v battery. I’m not sure why your motor is not going to 17. Have you tried logging in on the app? If you are still having issues I can call our power pole rep (I am a dealer) and ask them.

Well, now that I know it could and perhaps should go higher I will double check my battery voltage to the Move. I have used the App to adjust a few settings. It's neat to be able to do that. @@LynxAngler

Send the Powerball be on the other side of the boat

"Set the Power Pux on the other side of the boat"? I certainly could but two issues: I'm right handed so I strip fly line with my left which would pile it up on the trolling motor. But mostly I would hate to put 4 new holes through the deck of my boat. In order to make the repair look perfect you would have to redo all of the awlgrip for the entire deck. In my case I have the Aqua Traction that could cover it up, but that would have to be redone and it is not cheap. The good news is that I am finding that the whole Move mechanism is lightening up so I can just step on it now without using my hands. It's all good I still have zero complaints.

It's actually not much of an issue now with some practice.
