As a kid growing up in the 70s , my mom would buy me these books with the record inside. What a cool combo it was to have this as a kid.My mom even got me the Planet Of The Apes coloring books.I would lay on the floor coloring and my mom would play the movie on television. What a great time period to be a kid in the 70s.👍🙂awww the memories.
Funny that 3-4 actors did all the voices for all the many characters. You can hear the same voices throughout the 4-record set. I listened to this over and over when I was an Ape-fanatic 10 year old in 1974. The voice artist for Taylor was pretty over the top / Dudley Do-Right sounding... lol. Great retro stuff.
I had these and I just enjoyed them so much. especially this one! The only thing missing here is the voice ordering " please turn the record over to the other side."
I still have several of the books but not the records. So cool to hear it again. Spent many afternoons in the 70s as a kid listening to these. Thank you for uploading.
Thank you so much I was transported back to my childhood it’s funny how audio can immediately take you back to a time in your life! So much fun thanks again!!!!
I had all of these as a child I'M so glad that these have been found. brings back memories of listening to these at night as I went to sleep while my mom threatened to turn off the record, if we didn't keep it down.
Whoever ' deduced ' that this sci fi story was some kind of a kids story was probably a genius ... One of the most impressive movies Hwood ever put out Rated G .... all the apes movies were rated G except for ' Conquest ' things were getting nasty then and violent ... Well .. it is so nice to know we live in 2019 and everything is so great .
Power/Peter Pan released 12 book and record titles in 3 sets: 4 Marvel superhero stories, 4 Monster stories and 4 adaptations of the Apes films. Additionally, they comprised the Ape stories into a 12" LP. There was no room for "Conquest", as "Battle" would close the chapter (at that time).
Thanks for posting! I listened to (and read) these over and over as a kid. In a pre-video age these were a real slice of heaven!! Still pretty cool - great artwork, mostly good performances. Taylor sounds a bit like Dudley Doright, though! :)
Thanks for the upload! It's too bad they didn't adapt CONQUEST, too. One major gaffe is at ~ 9 minutes in, when Cornelius says, "Our schools teach that the ape evolved from the animal human." Uh, nope. That was HIS theory -- the "insidious theory called 'Evolution'," which went against the religious dogma from their Sacred Scrolls . . . but this adaptation wasn't going to go too much in-depth on all that. Does anybody recall who did the art for this? If I had to guess, it was probably one of the Filipino artists who could do great work on-the-cheap, brought over back in the early '70s, like Alfredo Alcala and Nestor Redondo.
This would insult the living gourd out of a lot of people . It brought back a lot of memories .. some not so good . Was thoroughly shocked by the movie .. being young and not too bright .. I bought all these 45s and had em all memorised . It was ages ago . These little 45s were cool . Thank You Jon for reminding me of them !
Thanks, i wore out the records listening to these as a kid, I can even remember where all the scratches were! I just don't remember Taylor being such a terrible actor.
I had and loved all of these plus 2 star trek ones and a batman one, played them over and over back in the day! I have always wondered since they had 4 apes films where was Conquest of the Planet of the apes? I never found a copy of it anywhere and I think for some reason they never made it
