Hey guys, this video gives a demonstration of power-saving mode on Lg dual inverter Air conditioners, you can use this feature to run your LG AC at 80-60-40% of its maximum power to save energy when fast cooling isn't required.
The tonnage I've mentioned in the video is just a rough estimate.
Also, depending on the model and year of purchase this feature is known as different names.

Great video.. The way you showed everything regarding 1.5 and 2 ton I believe in that only coz you showed with proof which matters. I love when someone talks in detail which is important to understand, otherwise people just want to make a short video coz people including me looks for short video. Yeah one can edit that way but complete and CORRECT information is very important. I loved it frankly and did not expect it to be so good. I will watch again to know and learn. Thanks a lot

Your comment means a lot!! 😊 Thank you! There are so many so-called 'reviewers' on RU-vid that don't even have the actual product and will just talk about 'specs' and call it a review without even thoroughly using the product, this makes me mad because there is no way you can give your viewers the correct information without actually using it. The worst part is they have a LOT more views than I do. Thank you again, Kushal, stay safe brother. 😊

If you are using AC at Night - Outside Temperature is low 1. First run AC in Normal mode and let it achieve 26-27 c. 2. Now once your room temperature is set to 26-27 c then turn on power saving mode to 40% or 60% and keep it the same till morning. 3. Selecting power saving mode depends on number of person in the room and your outside temperature. 4. If there are 2 people in the room you can use 40%. More than 2 than use 60%. If you are using AC at Noon- Outside Temperature is very high 1. First run AC in Normal mode or Viraat/HC mode and let it achieve 26-27 c. 2. Now once your room temperature is set to 26-27 c and outside temperature is more than 33 c then use 60% mode. 3. Now if you outdoor unit is facing the sun then it's better to run it at 80% or on Normal mode. 4. Because if your compressor run at 40% in the afternoon and outdoor unit is in sun, then your compressor have to work more and this will consume more energy.

why manually set it when the AC will automatically reduce power consumption upon temperature is reached and maintain optimal operation % to be efficient on its own. That's the point of Inverter AC isn't it?

Absolutely!! Just think about it, both, the compressor and the power inverter will run under capacity, so they won't be under stress especially when it's scorching hot, even if you run the AC at 60 or 80% it will still have a substantial impact on the overall life span of the AC. 😊 And thank you so much.

Power saving mode takes more time to cool down your room. So it means the electricity consumption to achieve set temperature is same in power saving mode and normal mode.

Extremely comprehensive! I am loving my new LG AC, love the unit and the smart features. But I was wondering if you could shed some light on long term power usage for these LG units. I noticed through the app that the power draw switches between full mode and half after prolonged use and cycles between them after a bit of time. Even if the ambient temperature has not hit the target, the ac will cycle down to a lower power mode for some time and then cycle back to full (is not in power saving mode). I have actually noticed this with other ACs I've had (Daikin, Mitsubishi) where after some time I will have to lower the temperature to get the cooling effect going again even when the target hasn't been hit yet. Is this a power saving feature or compressor saving feature? Since the LG has the app I can see the power usage cycle down which confirms why the cooling isn't so strong then after like 30mins or so will cycle back up, so was wondering why ACs all seem to do this? This doesn't seem to happen when I set the temp to something ridiculously low like 20.
@nitin7218

Maybe to reduce strain on compressor it slightly acts like a non-inverter AC, reducing and bumping up power consumption.

Power saving mode saves money. However, it is best to use the 100% function and the outside fan will turn off once it reaches the desired temperature and that will save more money than this.

Again as usual to the point video supported with lot of data. Just want to know what if I run ac at 26/100% for 8hr straight vs at 26 for 3hrs+ 26/40%for next 5hrs. At typical 40degree temp day in Delhi. (asking for period of 8hr from 9pm to 5am) How much the power consumption will differ? (I expect event hough its running straight 8hr at 26/100% still it automatically gradually reduces the power consumption) You may ans based on your best understanding. Or you got meter to check power consumption so you can do the live test on 2 diff night nd take the measurement on each morning (might be I am asking/expecting too much😅😜)
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
Well, this 5-in1/4-in1 feature makes no difference in total power consumption, I've actually tried it. The way it works is by reducing the tonnage of the AC, so it just going to take longer to cool down to the same temp when you run the AC at 40% power vs 100% but overall total power consumption is going to be more or less the same, because it takes the same amount of energy to cool the room down to the same temperature.
@mukeshgoyal
@mukeshgoyal 3 года назад
@@TechGuyCharlie make sense, as in other videos the power consumption at 26 and 28 is quite similar. Saving is not same as 24vs26. Nd on tonnage part, it is evident as the temperature of air rises around 10degree when working at 100% vs 40%
@mukeshgoyal
@mukeshgoyal 3 года назад
@@TechGuyCharlie in the contrary.. As in ur other video. At 22 it first pull around 1k watt and then it consuming ~300 watt to maintain 22 in night time. So isn't it going to save power of we run 22 @40% so it will be at ~300 for whole period instead of first it take 1k for hour or so nd then run at ~300. Theoretically running at lower tonnage should save more power. It does take time to bring temp down but will be compensated by taking lower power in intial period itself.
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
Doesn't work that way man, you cant break the laws of physics, if the AC uses more power on startup, it will cool the room quickly and the power consumption will also drop below what the AC uses at 40%. You will be running the AC for much longer at 40% to achieve the same temperature and overall the total power consumed will be more or less the same. think I missed a point in that video, when the outside temperature is around 30, the AC will never run at 100% power in the first place, that is why even at 22*C it was using only 1Kw if you set the power level to 40% it will use around 600-700 watts at night depending on outside temp when the room is warm. And 22 @40% does not consume 300, it consumes 600-700, only after the room cools down the power consumption drops to 300-350 watts, that will happen on all Inverter ACs regardless of the 4-in-1 feature.

@nitin7218 2 месяца назад
I heard from an LG showroom guy that the AC reverts to normal operation (i.e reduce compressor operating %) after desired temp is reached, even if we set it at 80% after set temp is reached it'll drop down to 50% or less. Is this true? you can check with the watt meter. So operating at 100% to cool down faster and automatically AC dropping to say 80% or 50% on itself will be more efficient right?
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 2 месяца назад
That is how an inverter AC works, once the temperature of the room reaches what you've set on the remote, the AC will automatically reduce the speed of the compressor and consume less power, like these days at night the AC in my room uses about 500-600 watts to maintain a steady temperature of 27 degrees, this is without any power saving mode, sometimes I've seen it drop to just 270 watts late night, that is much lower than what the AC would use if it was set at 40%. I always run the AC in my bedroom at 40% power and let the room temp drop slowly, it puts less stress on the AC overall, but you can let it run at full power without an issue, after all, it's designed to operate at 100% the one installed in our living room always runs at max power as its a big room to cool down.

Silly. Of course dry mode saves energy. It turns off the compressor and circulation fan. It only uses an exhaust fan. Will not do much to help circulate air in the room, and even less to help cool the room. Dry mode should be used for drying out the unit. Some may say it’s good for dehumidifying but I will say that is debatable. Energy saver will work best if you’re still interested in cooling the room.

Hey, so the fan speed has nothing to do with the power modes, you can run the fan at its lowest speed or in Auto mode, it will have no impact on the power consumption or the power modes, both are independent, you can try this yourself and see that power modes and fan speed work independently.

Try 27 or 28*C without the energy saver, I get great power savings running the AC at 27*C also you might wanna check this video out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3rvjdzKCLRY.html

why this is not automatic? we need to reduce the electricity

Uhm, it is automatic, depends on the temperature of the room. What I've shown is the manual way to forcefully make the AC run at a lower power.

In your experience, which is the best mode for power consumption and cooling on an LG AC, and for life span? Thank you very much!
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 2 года назад
It really depends on how hot it really is, like during monsoon I keep it at 40% power and that is more than enough to keep the room cool and the AC uses very little energy, about 1 kWh in 2 hours. But during hot dry summers I keep it at 80-100% because that's when you need powerful cooling, that of course uses a lot more power. So there is no best mode for power consumption for cooling, it really depends on the weather outside. 😊

@@TechGuyCharlie On my country is around 35°C -40°C in the summer rarely goes above 45°. What I really need to know is if the comfort mode OK for the power consumption and for the lifespan? Thank you!

Pretty much, but that also depends on the outside temperature, but for the most part 40% should be enough for a small room, I always keep the AC in my room set to 40% saves a lot of enery.

Sir how much time it will take to reduce power consumption because , I have purchased 1.5 ms q18pnxa model lg ac , at 26 degree 100% it runs on 1800 watt but when I press 80 % ac. Not reduced power , I wait near around 15 minutes... But after press 80 % and prees off button and Start again then it run only 1000 to 1200 Watt... Every time I have to off to reduce power

Does your 2 ton ac's vertical swing goes extreme down for people sitting direct under the ac? In my ac it rarely go down that is when the flap is opened completely
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
The flap position you see in the video at 7:35 is the lowest position, I don't think any ACs flap goes that far down because that will end up blocking the air flow 🤔
@kushaldeepchaujar3402
@kushaldeepchaujar3402 3 года назад
@@TechGuyCharlie no bro it goes down more than that. In the beginning when it's too hot and sitting just down the ac then you don't feel the air. I have myself brought it to the extreme down 2-3 times with remote by stopping the flap there using button but it doesn't happen after that.. And Yes you can do manually. Later you can change the flap settings when room is cooled.

So at night the best way to leave the ac on at 40% 24c full fan speed ?
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
Fan speed depends on the weather and size of the room! For small to medium sized bedrooms I prefer running the AC at 24-26c at low fan during monsoon season as it gives better de-humidification, and medium to high fan during hot and dry summers. As for power saver feature, I don't use it in the dining room AC as the room is quite big, but have it set at 60% for bedroom AC, during summers and 40% for monsoon season and works out quite well for me. For night I just run the AC on sleep mode for 7 hours straight. 😊 I hope this helps

Just power it on and leave it running, I don't even use the energy-saving feature nowadays, just power on, set the fan to medium and the temp at 27/28 and let the AC do its thing, it will automatically slow down once the temperature of the room comes down. So if you have set temperature to 24° and then run it on 60% what exactly that means? Will it increase the temperature or what coz on display it does not show the temperature after selecting the mode
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
60% means 60% of the ACs full power, when you run 1.5Ton AC at 60% option, it will run as a 0.8 Ton unit. If you set the temp to 24, and operate it at 60%, the AC will take longer to cool the room down because its running at a lower tonnage. Temperature setting and this feature aren't related, the temperature stays the same. Hope this helps.
@kushaldeepchaujar3402
@kushaldeepchaujar3402 3 года назад
@@TechGuyCharlie then if it's going to take more time to achieve that temperature how will it lower the bills? I'm sorry I'm not able to understand, maybe I'm missing something.
@TechGuyCharlie
@TechGuyCharlie 3 года назад
It wont, thing is, overall your AC will still end up using the same amount of energy, I even mentioned this at the 10:51 mark. What this feature will do is increase the lifespan of your AC to quite an extent. Thing is, if you operate the AC at lower power, the components like the compressor and inverter board will always run under capacity with a lot less stress on them. This feature is also quite useful while running the AC on a diesel generator, as running at low power saves fuel. This is one of the reasons I went with 2Tons and running it as a 1.5ton. I hope this clears out your doubts. Always feel free to ask anything you'd like.
