Dropped $250 on new front OEM brembo pads to get rid of the squealing and crazy amount of dust, as recommended by the Chevy dealership near me. After spending the $250 plus $100 install the problem till persisted. I confronted the dealership and their only response was that performance brakes leave dust and squeal, so it's just a problem I have to live with. Proceeded to spend $460 on powerstop rotors and brake pads, and I've never been happier. Dust is basically nonexistent, and the rotors looks 100X more aesthetic. The OEM brembo pads have a tad bit more bite to them, but I was personally willing to sacrifice that for the little to no dust and nonexistent squealing/squeaking. 10/10 recommend anyone with a camaro to replace their braking system for a powerstop setup and keep their stock setup for track purposes. You won't regret it.
Thank you for the video. I appreciate the install video as well as this follow-up video. I have been watching you for years now. My car is a 2017 2SS in Hyper Blue metallic. I purchased & will be installing the exact same pads from Power Stop as well as the Z26 drilled slotted rotors in all 4 corners. You put out a lot of interesting & helpful videos so please continue doing that. From one gear head to another, specifically a Camaro Gear head: Thank you.
I'm installing the z23s tomorrow so this is good to hear. I don't have a track anywhere near me or I would have got the ones you got but the lack of dust is very appealing. In fact I've watched a lot of your videos and they've helped tremendously so thank you for the content
I did the z26 brake & rotor upgrade on my '16 Charger R/T & am very impressed with the outcome! The brakes started squealing so I thought it was a problem with OEM parts(Replaced the back pads 3X with different pads with same outcome)! For $400, I've never had a problem with brakes anymore....
@@Widebody20 IMHO, I would. I'm planning on swapping out the brakes on my '17 Jeep SRT when the brakes need changing. You'll also enjoy not having to clean the wheels every few days. My Charger wheels are practically dustless.
Got my Z-26's put on! WOW what a difference in the how little brake dust. I have the black wheels and with the OEM pads I had to clean brake dust daily and the metal would oxidize and turn rusty red. Thanks for the great suggestion. I really appreciate your Gen 6 information and dedication to our cars! Jeff
Thanks for the review. I just installed mine last week on my 2017 50th anniversary 2SS and my wheels were still clean when I washed it yesterday! They don't grown when you let off the brakes either so I say they are quieter than the OEM pads! Always enjoy the tips and upgrades. Next is the rock guards from ZL1 add ons since I already have paint chips at 3k miles from the front tires.
Dude, you have one of the best looking camaros I have seen. I especially like how you customize your car and maintain the character of the car as well. Keep up the work sir! Wish I could get you on my channel but I live in Georgia.
SeeSeven Stuff That's the same 'dust experience' as I've had. I purchased the Power Stop Brake kit (#K6523-26 Z26 Street Warrior) which are rotors & pads for front/rear for my 2014 Corvette Z51 --- being installed Oct 13. I'll try to post my thoughts on performance here. If you or anyone else reads this and want to know my reaction...reply or like this comment and I'll receive the notification and respond.

Now that you've had them on for awhile..... How do they perform to the original brakes? Have you been on the track with them? How do they hold up, any fade?
I'm considering these and R1 Concepts, EBC Yellow pads and even Bosch Quietcast Premium. After a year or more how did the Z26 hold up ? Strong as or better than oem Bembro ? any experience with the other pads I mentioned ? Looking for good strong breaking, with low dust, low noise, low fad in higher heat and decent all around pads
It’s so crazy to me as I thought in the modern era, brake dust accumulation was a thing of the past. Of all the cars I’ve seen up in my life, the only car I’ve known to have a huge problem with brake dust was my mom’s’94 Nissan Maxima SE with the factory 16 spoke turbine wheels. I’ll never forget those wheels because it took almost an hour to clean them thoroughly. You talking about some wheels that were dam near impossible to keep clean, those rims were a nightmare. I remember watching my dad get down on his knees with a toothbrush trying to make them spotless for my mom one year for Mother’s Day. When I bought my Camaro SS 2 months ago, I would’ve never thought I would be cleaning rims all day, every dam day to keep the car looking decent. These shits are a straight up pain in the ass to keep clean and they rival those old Maxima rims in terms of frustration levels. Gotta get me some new pads ASAP if I want to save my dam paint job. Never thought in a million years I would experience this problem in a late model vehicle.
do ur brakes make squel noise in the morning after warming up car?i reverse n it brake noise squel then it stop after few brakes it goes away n its like 2 months used.
Mine just came in today from Amazon hope to get them installed this weekend I have a yellow C7 Z51 with yellow calipers I'm so sick of brake dust on my rims and calipers
I got the 2018 v6 Camaro for a daily I already own a 2015 ss so I was used to all the brake options went to buy some pads and rotors for the v6 and damn finding anything for it is mission impossible lol I did buy these still waiting for the rotors so hopefully they feel good on the single pistons lol is the bit weak like others have said? And how long did they last? I see a lot of people said they got less than 45k miles with them with the rotors it comes with
Power Stop is a great company for brakes all around as a budget company. I have the stage 3 kit on my Dakota R/T, they have been durable, and the performance is far better than stock. Far cheaper than OEM or other companies with high quality.
Hello Matt Does the z26 brake pads fits the six piston brembo brake pads and also I put 10 quarts of engine oil in my ss but the dip stick shows low and I add another quart to fill up the ss engine is that really normal please give me an advice Matt about how much engine oil I need to fill the ss thanks deeply appreciated
Mine seem to squeeze real bad at cold when in reverse. And also in drive at cold with low brake pressure. But with normal braking no noise or squeeze. Plesse help
Ok so folks on the ZL1 facebook forum say these pads eat the ZL1 rotors away and are bad for the rotors. Are you still using these pads now? Whats your opinion after 5 years??
Really enjoyed following your build. I was putting these on my ‘16 SS and noticed that the retainers clips are wider than the groove on the pins for the pads. This means the clips want to go cricked, slipping halfway into the depression in the center of the pins. The OEM clips fit the grooves. Did you have this issue and did you still use the new clips.
Did you get these pads for free? Or did you compare them to other brake pads? Iam thinking of installing the Hawk performance ceramic pads and maybe the slotted rotors. The brake dust is horrible on my wheels.
LethalGarage I just purchased the EBC red ceramic pads. Was thinking of changing the rotors too to slotted and drilled ones but not sure. Might just cut the OEMs like you did.
Just got these for my camaro ss they do in-fact minimize brake dust. But I do notice a difference in braking not the quality of braking. Rather the bite the original brembo pads bite faster so I did have to relearn muscle memory for brake travel. The travel depressing brakes was slightly further than original but not a deal breaker at all good pads. I did have some squealing at 5mph to stop but very slight. I’m sure it will go away after completely doing break-in and it was 35deg outside. So I’m sure that played a part not being warmed up.
same here for my 2018 ss exactly what u said i agree. mine are still breaking in when cold morning backin out of driveway it squels lil till pads are warm up
I switch to these brake pads with the same rotors and now my front right brake screeches so badly.. so embarrassing.. I think it's because my rotors are too warped causing a lot of vibrations... I removed the shims and it did lower the sound just a tad but still embarrassing lol
@@Twiinforthewin my squeak went away bro... I took the pads off and added some brake pad grease behind the pad and I did another pad break in like Lethal told me too and it went away. You should try it before you replace them . But you have to do a proper break in.. I guess I didn't do a proper break in the first time
Normally me getting new rotors wouldn't be a big deal. However, my '16 SS came with the upgraded six piston front brakes along with slotted rotors. I'd be afraid to ask what it'd cost me to replace those expensive slotted rotors. I really like the idea of replacing the pads with something that's less dusty. I wonder which kit would be applicable for my six piston front setup? I'm assuming your Amazon link is for a four piston setup, correct?
Street Warrior Z26 pads and rotors (drilled/slotted/zinc coated) from CarID for $453. I also installed Goodridge G-Stop SS brake line kit (not rubber) cost $149. You need SS brake lines.
Yeah I love the pads...especially when you have the aluminum wheels. No dust, no squealing. They dont even get dirty in your dusty, sandy area.Great review Lethal. Keep them coming.
Definitely about to invest in these pads and turn the rotors. This is my first Camaro, first Brembo brake setup, and sixed car overall. I’ve literally had my car 2 months already and I’ve probably washed it 20 plus times. Brake dust is a pet peeve for me so I’m squatting multiple times per day trying to get my dirty wheels to match my clean car. I’ve read that sometimes you sacrifice performance when swapping out OEM Brembo pads, but at this point an intervention might just just be saving my exterior, as washing any car too often with soap will damage its paint job.
I'm looking for new brakes on my Audi that give off a lot of brake dust. Any online site where I can look at some that will give me more info of what brake company is good for my car and what will fit?
+Ekam24 there are a ton of companies who make breaks for your cars. But honestly I would hit Audi forms or something like that to find the best ones available. I just don't know Enough about Audis to give you the right kind of information
WC Whitney had their head up their butt & have the wrong part numbers on their site. The correct numbers for a 2017 / 2018 ZL1 = Front - Z26-1835 / Rear - Z26-1053 "Extreme Performance" series.
Got them in today, I have the Black wheels and are a nightmare to keep the brake dust off them. I have to clean the dust off every day. Thanks again for your time given to Gen6 !
@@cordelriusreed4292 I had to replace pads and rotors on a man car because the last stupid installer. Put so much grease on the back of the pads. It leaked down, got on the pads and rotors.

@@MrBillSabre I have been happy with them. Only issue is they squeak a little in the morning as I pull out of the garage. After that tho, no noise and they work great. Also, virtually no brake dust!

@@dougedoug2105 I know this was posted a year ago and you probably forgot about it, but I figured I would just clarify _why_ the stock brake pads have so much dust. By default, the Camaros come with semi-metallic brake pads. These are great for dual-purpose street/track cars since the added metals allow them to cool down faster without a lot of the drawbacks of fully metallic pads. However, these pads cause a lot of brake dust and eat your rotors (due to metal on metal contact). The PowerStop Z26s and their competitors are ceramic pads. These are great for street driving as they last longer, don't produce much dust, don't eat your rotors, and don't produce noise that we can hear (assuming there are no underlying issues). However for track use, they aren't the best and shouldn't be used if you plan on pushing your car to the limits. For most people, ceramic is the way to go, but to say that the stock pads are "low-tech," "old-fashioned," or simply just bad kind of misses the point of them.
@@Clone895 Thanks for the recommendation Brother, I’ll have to try them as I am sick of these stock pads. They’ve literally destroyed my rims. Took a highway trip recently and put about 1000 miles on the car. Didn’t wash my rims before or during my road trip and when I washed the car a few days back the dust was literally so baked on the rims(Blame 100 degree/day TX Heat) that I had to wash them 3 separate times to remove what dirt I could. Had the rims repainted in February because the brake pads and grease had stained the original factory metallic finish and they were stained again within 1 month. I hate to throw away money but I’m a year into ownership and sick of cleaning rims, but I have to paint them again this time in bläck which is probably won’t like because the metallic silver just looks better on my car because it’s got silver rally stripes. Hated to vent hug I’ll definitely give those pads you recommended a try
@@dougedoug2105 Ya np. Also good brake cleaner goes a LONG way when it comes to getting off brake dust. I find that when I do a simple wash with car shampoo, there is still plenty of dust left on the rims. However using brake cleaner (I use Adam's), I am able to get my wheels stupidly clean. The stuff doesn't smell the best, but it sure does work... I personally just picked up some Z26 pads and StopTech rotors to replace the stock setup, so I'll see how they compare
@@Lethalgarage You knew as much if not more dust would have been on your finger. I'm devoting my channel to exposing bs brake pads. I've done Advance pads, Detroit Axle and Autozone. Power Stop is next.
put these on my Daytona 392 and I have almost no dust...and by almost...I mean nearly non existent....performance wise I believe the brembo pads stoped the car a little better
In the eye of the beholder, since when you have no/less dust, normaly you have less bite and endurance from your brakes. Personaly i would have changed for something like a Hawk HP plus pad, probably more dust then the stock, lol, but more bite and endurance.
