I enjoyed the presentation! You viewers should know in most cases if you clean up your harmonics you also significantly improve your power factor. Capacitors are about as green an energy saver out there.
Hey Mark! I'm an EE student I didn't know this. Thank you for that insight! My dad works in a hotel, and they have a horrific pf (0.46) he's trying to save costs, I thought that it might be a simple fix, change capacitor bank, but now as I see this video with harmonics and current flow analysis, I see it is a lot more complex!
I agree, just remember that some pf correcting capacitors can themselves produce harmonics, especially in the case of resonant harmonic frequencies of a given system. I've heard of inductors being placed in series with capacitors to deal with issues (Ironic that you'd use inductors to solve a problem that only occured because of inductive loads in the first place). Probably uncommon but worth mentioning I think.
