This power take-off demonstration was shown to 4th graders at Elementary Field Day to emphasize the importance of being safe on the farm.
PTO entanglements are one of the leading causes of disabling injuries on the farm. Entanglements are usually caused by clothing or shoestrings being caught in rotating or moving equipment. Prevent PTO accidents by always keeping guards and shields in place, wearing snug fitting clothing with no dangling strings, and staying away from the rotating PTO shafts.

On July 3rd, 2019, it was reported that 5 year old, Adam Schrock was killed immediately in Reno County when his clothes got caught in the PTO while a family member was working on his tractor. Please be careful. Thank you for this video.

A lot of those kids are farmers’ kids. It’s more about the kids knowing to be cautious around the heavy machinery that they probably have at home

Older PTO shields can be retrofitted with a safety chain on both ends. Safety chains these days are required by LAW.

Because he held up the equivalent of a balloon animal. I found it slightly humorous the way he did it but I didn't laugh. It was just the comparison of a morbid mental image to a silly balloon person. It was the juxtaposition that was funny. Not the topic itself

Pretty sure we can create some kind of metallic cover that comes with it from factory. It will cover the whole rotating mechanism, avoiding any contact with it. And once you’re done you can simply open the cover and remove it if you want to dissemble the power take-off. Cmon!

the whole point of the demonstration was to keep the guards on wtf are you talking about? He specifically says he removed the guard for the demo.

themistermaniacal calm your tits ok. I’m not a farmer nor do I know much about this. All I know is that alot of people get injured and die because of this thing so if there is a guard why the fuck do people remove it? Then get into accidents. Again I based my comment on how many people got injured or saying it’s dangerous. Thank you for your contribution but calm down don’t act smart with me you don’t know me. Cheers.

@@Fish_and_Coins Older models didn't have this guard. A lot of machinery used on farms tend to be older because the newer ones are absurdly expensive and they're built in a way that you cannot repair them which forces you to send them to the manufacturer which is more expensive.
