On October 10th, 2020 a revised version of the historic offshore powerboat race known as the "Rum Run" took place off the coast of Southern California. Produced by Ocean Cup, The two offshore racing teams that competed for this inaugural race were Team Lucas Oil in their SilverHook 48GP and Team Reindl Powerboats in their 24' "Bat Boat". The UIM/APBA approved course spanned 112 miles around Catalina Island, starting and finishing at the Huntington Beach Pier. I had the honor of not only shooting this race, but I was one of the coproducers of the event.

Damn! Them Lucas oil boys were really getting after it to outrun the chopper! That little 24ft bat boat was moving too! Probably getting beat up in that thing pretty hard!

La Gran Argentina set the overall speed récord in a key west '95 p1 offshore competition reaching 230 km/h (144m/h) averange speed. This 63f boat Kevlar Hull handcraft Made in Monza IT had mounted four Seatek twin-turbo 630ci 1100hp whit 15 inches 5 blades 31 pitch propellers. I think it's remarkable Even comparing against todays competition boats. It's a shame that our country does't continúes his proud competition boating legacy...

@@penskepc2374 yes, it had Marlboro and Repsol Labels, front canards and a orange cockpit , one of the first whit auto ejectable technology...( The Pilot Scioli Lost an arm in a past competition accident, thats the reason why he invest a lot of money to do this life saver device)

This is the bighest fault of the nprmal US poweboat races, they no longer use helicopters for shots and its thw only shot that matters. This was way more exciting than 10 supercats going in a little circle.

speed on the water is much different that land i have a scraab metor 5000 with triple 1350 mercruisers it's an insane ride 100 mph cruising a 65% throttle on smooth water but the hull really cannot handle more than that but i inherited the hull and it was completely gutted and a friend hooked me up on a set of takeout engines so not ideal but i like the insanity of it

i have a Four-winns H170 with a 200 hp 4.3 V6 that hits 53 on our GPS perfectly trimmed up (lol) .. but on that little open bow it feels like 100 MPH and sounds kinda cool...lol

You call that fast? Without aerodynamic stabilizers, those boats are flipping all over the place, its amazing they don't dive under the surface. Add a nice stabilizer tail, dual skies molded into the bottom of the hull, and you could easily do 200 mph+ on that water with minimal crashing. Use gas turbines and you will be able to hit 300 mph in the same conditions.

When will the boats, air craft, etc. be all battery powered per the biden administration? California has all the strict emissions laws, do all the vehicles have catalytic converters?
