He is so inspiring ❤️ ... I have done 550 kms twice in a day in my TVS Apache 160 4V 😀 ... In 2nd trip, it was raining almost for 300 kms during a partial lockdown ... It was the best journey in my life
Experience and discipline speaks volume when Schumi talks. Have been following him since a kid when he was with OD. So much of knowledge and experience and so much to learn from him!
Hey you folks make great videos. I'm having trouble finding any answers on a coupla topics : - The best bike for hill life... Say if I'm based in the Himalayas, not the plains. Typically - lots of cornering, very little high speed riding, lots of bad roads on incline/decline, high altitude, low temps, rain snow and sleet, rare servicing. - The best bike for 2-person touring in the hills... Say if me and a friend (with combined weight of ~150kg) go trekking and bike to the basecamp, with a coupla rucksacks of 30kg/60L each. Again, the points above will mostly apply. But pillion comfort, luggage mounting options and infrequent low-speed falls also to be considered. What would you recommend?
It's my Encyclopedia for my next Long distance tour. . If this pandemic would not have been there I would have just gone for long ride 😍. . He tried to cover up everything he could ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks Shumi ❤️ #pdarmy #stayhome #staysafe
i ve never rode more than 50kms at a stretch..Nd for the first tym ever, this lockdown, i rode around 700kms(which i consider myself an achievement) in my mt15 to get to my new hospital whr i was posted..I was very nervous before the ride and was searching whole of youtube for tips..This video wud hav been very very helpful then..Nd I really enjoyed my ride except for the scorching sun and not a single restuarant on the way..Great Video Shumi..!!
love mt15 done a 800km ride with a friend great performance amd milage ride quality especially for beginners who upgrade from 100 to 200 even though mt15 is 155cc its awesome.
Thanks a lot shumi for this goldmine of a session..I was in to long distance biking in 2005-2008..and cd100 was my bike. But in those days cars were not so powerful. Those were days when you could really enjoy a good ride as bike touring was not a common thing.
I have done 135km stretch rides either from home to work or work to home in different motorcycle like Himalayan, fz, classic 350, ns 200, mt15, and Yamaha libero g5 and these bikes has different performance comfort etc... and i find the 106 cc libero g5 gave me most comfortable riding posture and seating comfort considering others. While Himalayan gave best pillion comfort and cursing speed at highway are better because of suspension wind shield etc.. and was thrilled by performance of mt15 and ns200, while 350 and fz are better at low at speeds (40 to 60) in highways (note the point highways out here are not super as like in another's States ,but somehow we are adjusted to the scenarios). So it doesn't actually matter the cc of bike every time all matter how experience are u with bikes mind and body and how well u have planned and packed is your long distance touring. #Enjoy the ride rather than rushing in to redlines. Find #your comfort zone in budget, health, food, packaging the stuff, speeds, company's (friends or group) stops or refreshments backup plans service and maintenance, route time etc... All matter is the #attitude what you want and how do you #behaves to achieve the goal. Be a #passionate, #responsible, #productive and #socially wellbeing human and a rider.#Learn everytime when you are on a motorcycle, because each time these #lovely mechines teaches the perceptive of beautiful world and human out here in different angles when roads hits you . Onces paradise is where he is and it is achieved just by working towards ur aim through behaving yourself. At the end #memories is are left for you. If my word's or views are wrong #forgave me. #Hope everyone is doing well #stayhome #stayhealthy .Hope for fast cure in covid19 pandemic.
Can you make a video on riding gears? A know how of accessories from top to bottom along with brand recommendations. Not only motorbike companies but also individual manufactures have their presence in this market thus making difficult to accessorise.
My father is a huge fan of driving, we've done 1000-1800 km drives several times and the only debate we have throughout the drive is he drives similar to what your driving style is and I drive similar to what Akshay's is and listening to your reasons of why you drive that way literally felt as if it's my dad and you are in on the script lmao
Going through the video for the nth time. Every time its imparts a new confidence. Looking back, we did Delhi - Udhampur (approx. 750kms) on tbe first day of our Ladhak ride and Manali to Delhi (600 kms) on the last day of the same trip on CBR250, Duke 200 and Pulsar 220. It was exhausting but was exciting.
Even if i wont do long distance in future, listening about it was great. Tips about how to manage time, back and other pains was very nice. Thank you so much. This is the first video from which i started watching power drift.
you have touched almost all the aspects of long distance touring.very informative video.should have got a million views by now.sadly some irrelevant and stupid touring vlogs get more views and likes than they deserve.anyways keep up the good work of educating masses on bike related issues and saving their life and limb.used to read ur texts in overdrive magazines if i am not wrong for a very long time.
How do you clean & lube the bike chain on a very long multi day ride without a main stand. Specially on a heavy adventure bike. For home based I know the paddock setup works. But on a long ride when on the go? Any hacks there? I think Bret Tcaks had once mentioned a single side rudimentary stand which props it up via the paddock bobbin but keen to hear how you might address this. Thank you.
Thank you Shumi for doing this. I watched it the second time and this time I took notes. That's just way too much knowledge. Probably do another soon? :) and avoid the already answered questions this time ;)
I too don't waste time on luxurious foods, I just get a roti with daal or boiled eggs with coffee rather than having maggie or momos or any fast food as it makes me feel heavy on stomach while riding... Only once I had red bull twice as I had a long stech of 900+km from Srinagar to Noida which consist 300km of mountainous curves roads which took around 8 hours to get over then remaining 600km I did in 12 hours that day I didn't had any food other than what I had at breakfast because it would make me feel sleepy so I only took liquid diet such as coffee or tea with biscuits and redbull
Shumi many thanks to you for this prolific exposition. Absolute gold standard stuff...One query... You use Arai RX7V extensively. Is it absolutely the best for touring or is there any other Arai helmet that is more suited for touring. Comfort and massive levels of ventilation are the most important QRs Thanks
Amazing video, thank you so much for this. There is so much to learn from experienced riders like you. Been following you since the OD days All of the podcasts are such a great resource for all the new riders joining this community All the best for all your future endeavours
Your views are very helpfull thanks, I would like to know more about hill riding? Any special gears for off roading / hill roads?, Is there any modifications need to do for offroadings?
Hey Shumi, could you go a bit slower when you mention names of the products you recommend/use? I love these podcasts. The tons of useful off topic information keeps me on my toes. :D
Absolutely fentastic! What a passion u have on raiding bikes even after 20yrs!🙆♂️👍👏🙏 Ur energy levels, passion n attention to details makes anyone get motivated either on riding or on the work wat they r doing!!! Keep up the good work 👍 tc
PowerDrift has come a long way in my perticular liking. Shumi is a baller always puts out information that helps us to learn and get to know bikes better.
Only reason I enjoyed this 1hour long video so much is because of Shumi. Really enjoy watching this man talk. Big fan since saw you first in overdrive.
You have such amazing and sensible advise. Just discovered your channel and I have been binge watching ! If all bikers listened to you they would have an great experience and also for others.
See thats the thing , if u can talk like this about biking and at the same time listen to something like this for almost 75 mins , biking is life and life biking🧘🏼♂️😍
Great session @shumi ! I’m myself planning to travel to Nagpur on my Ninja650 after this lockdown ends which is around 900km from Pune. This would be my 2nd time, 1st time was with my Classic 350 which was not super planned but I think this time it would be much better. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions 👍🏻😊
Dear Shumi, I really am a big fan of yours. As a fellow motorcycle rider, I have had my fair share of riding cross states in India every year. I have been Riding the Bullet 350 ci 1968. Drives perfect. Is maintained perfectly. For luggage I use rucksacks, Sometimes Ladakh Carrier. Sometimes. Mostly rock sacks. As my ride is a Tubed Tyred OLD Machine, I'm these days bitten by the fact that the Puncture repair guys alongside most roads bluntly refuse to repair tubes punctures. I've also tried Slime liquid but Im not too convinced by it. Do you have any specific touring tips for touring on a Bullet ci old model if one has to cover approx 200 to 500 km per day. Thanks. Keep doing the good work buddy. God Bless.
Amazing man, You guys inspired me to go for long trips and enjoy life. I am one of those nerds who sits in front of a laptop or a computer screen and play video games when get bored lol 😂😂.
I want to know why all famous motor journalists(I don't know if it's the right term to use) are here in powerdrift now? Just a curious question. Regardless of the reason, powerdrift is getting better and better day by day
I understand. Keep making good content for RU-vid. Happy that y'all are here because I believe RU-vid is more democratic compared with all channels and flix-prime-stars out there.
Hello PD. Can i get help to buy a bike.....as in a guide.....i love the gt 650, rr 310 is amazing sport, ktm is punchy but too teeny, dominar 400 is good over all package, etc etc....... Can u make a video regarding what bike for what purpose and what exactly do i need for some city and some touring. Thanks. Great content always. 👍
I feel Iron Butt is of no use actually. Be it any country. I mean, we all ride for pleasure, exploring and freeing our minds off, not for doing records and gaining popularity doing so. That risk makes no sense imo.
shumar sir, it’s ok. I know your were live for more then an hour & half the time without even a fan. Looking forward for more videos. You r doing a excellent job. I too wanna explore long distance riding on my desert storm 500. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Where is racetrack in Bengaluru ??? I'm staying here but couldn't see a motorbike race track in here. If you are talking about "Meco Kartopia" then ignore me.
Not only because I like Automobile🏳️ stuff, but even as a person u & your team feels responsible & mature.. & Seem to have a good character, which is a imp thing 😊 ⚕️
Is there any Facebook group where people post rides information? I am trying to avoid solo long rides and looking for a buddy. This helps a lot in peace of mind as you have a company alongside. Location Delhi
