At $11.50 per cylinder for 40 shots? Total deal breaker for me. This is a more powerful alternative to CO2, but no way is it cheaper than PCP if you use it alot.

I agree on it not being cheaper if you plan to use it a lot, but as a entry point into PCPs, I do think it's a great package right out of the box, and that is something we haven't seen for this price in the PCP world yet.

Very cool idea, the quality, accuracy and power looks good. The ability to carry spare gas units is awesome. Good not to have to pump up or regas a cylinder. I think this will take off for bug out and field use. The issue of course will be the availability and price of the nitro cylinders. Pity they are not refillable, a return/exchange program could have worked well. I expect some entrepreneur is watching sales to see if an aftermarket refillable cylinder option can work.

If I wanted a pcp for occasional hunting. This would be extremely hard to beat. The cost and effort would be minimal and the performance is great. That would keep me from having the high investment of traditional PCPs. This is assuming Iam new to the pcp world, without the equipment to fill one. Alot of people don't shoot over 500 round in a year. Looking at it from that perspective, it's a cheap way to go. Around $100 bucks (10 nitro cylinders) for a year of shooting. I think it's a excellent idea.

It will also prevent you from entering the PCP world. Once you have a handpump / Compressor or airtank, you are good to go for any PCP (okay maybe not with just a handpump). But I already got a compressor for just over 200 euro and I'm now looking for a nice PCP with a good power to price balance to start with. (Really love the Notos, but its a whopping 410 euro / dollars in the Netherlands, waiting for the Iconix at about 215 as an alternative). But I would like to ramp up to a Gauntlet or Hatsan Hercules Bully somewhere in the future.

@@heithwatkins Not exactly what I said, and far from what I meant. If you buy this N2 gun, your out 200 dollars and stuck with rather expensive N2 cartridges. Money you could have invested in a cheap PCP and pump to really get into the PCP world. I see the Komplete as an intermediate between CO2 and PCP, but not really the introduction to PCP as you will still be stuck in the same big step to get your frst PCP and pump. In my option, the combination of needing both is a big investment to start using PCP's. Once you have a means to pump a PCP, you are good to go.

Thanks Tyler and Umarex. Great N2 rifle. it works for a limited use pesting rifle in all weather conditions 👍👍. The Umarex Iconix should be a better choice for a "shooter who target practices and pests. I think the under $250 entry level PCP rifles are great and with a inexpensive Vevor hand pump, one has a much better platform. N2 is a great stable platform. Living in the Northwoods I wish it was used to replace the Co2 in air pistols for year round use and a more FPS.

@mrhalfstep
@mrhalfstep 4 месяца назад
Tyler, I don't see this gun being an entry level PCP because of the cost of the nitro and the small shot count. What I can envision, and I hope you share this with Umarex, is a budget arrow launcher like the AirJavelin, only powered by HP nitro and regulated. A bow hunter is not going to expect to get or need to get lots of shots from the cartridges. The CO2 powered AirJavelin is really too low powered for deer, especially since deer are usually taken in temperatures that ruin an already weak CO2 powered system. I assume that nitro would be more temperature stable and that the regulator would aid that even more. A bow hunter might be reluctant to buy compressors and pumps to charge a gun like the more capable PCP powered AirSaber, even if he thought the idea of an arrow launcher was appealing, because he just isn't going to be shooting it like we shoot our pellet PCPs (100s of shots at a sitting) Taking a charged gun into the deer field with a spare tank in the pocket, just in case, might be more appealing. That's my thoughts on the matter.
@pyramydair
@pyramydair 4 месяца назад
That's another good use case for it for sure! I am fairly certain the folks at Umarex have a decent number of ideas for this tech already, but the arrow launcher side makes perfect sense to me. Good call!

Appreciate your thoughts here. We are working on additional use cases as you might imagine. Interesting. PCP power from a canister! Currenlty, I'm paying $8-12 for Co2 cartridges to power my MPX and DPMS. Both of which are seriously under powered for any kind of pesting. Sure, they're fun or I'd have gotten rid of them. However, I took a friend with me to shoot pigeons are a farm and he insisted that his Co2 rifle was up to the task. The first pigeon he shot flew off despite being shot center chest. My friend chased it down to a back fence and shot it again. And again ti flew off behind some pens. He followed it and put another round into it and when it didn't go down despite being shot three times, my friend gave up. This would NOT have happened if my friend had been using PCP level power on that damn bird! I'll be telling my friend about the Komplete as what's holding him back is that he doesn't want to invest in all the accessories necessary to go full PCP.
@pyramydair
@pyramydair 4 месяца назад
Nice! The more I think about it, the better comparison might be to CO2 guns. While this has many of the hallmark features and performance of a PCP, the cartridge aspect is the same as CO2. In that comparison, I think the benefits are clear. The cost per shot or cost per fill is quite high still, but if you have a need for the extra power and don't want to deal with fill equipment, it's really the only option that bridges that gap at the moment.

Where I live I pay $6 to fill a 12 litre scuba tank to 4500 psi and I live inland far from any sea. Yes, I needed to buy a scuba tank. Found one used for $50 got it approved for another $120. With these gas canisters it will cost a fortune in the end so it's not a surprise that the rifle itself is on the cheap side. And I guarantee that within a year you want to replace it with a proper pcp. So from my own experience of buying cheap pcp I recommend to pay the extra money to get a something for $1000 plus. A small tip. Ask your local fire department kindly and respectfully if they would consider to fill a scuba tank for you once in a while. Many of them can consider doing so as long as your scuba tank are up to date on inspections. Most time they just take a small donation to the coffee and cake fond, works at least here in sweden.😊 First pcp Hatsan gladius. Current pcp Edgun leshiy 2.

I wonder if this rifle in .177 tuned for less power but higher shot count would be more appealing? For those that want to plink paper, or dispatch pests 25 fpe isn't needed. A higher shot count at lower power would extend the use of th3 canisters. Does Umarex plan on offering a conversion kit to run HPA? That would allow people to enter the PCP airgun world on N2 canisters to start and if they want to shoot more without the cost of N2 canisters they could opt for a conversion HPA bottle and fill from a bigger tank. I bet someone has already converted one to save money. Great video !

So lets say you like to shoot 2 times a week which is at a cost of $45.98 per week for the cost of the cartridges. Well in 3 to 4 weeks you have just spent enough to buy your hand pump for the umarex Notos. and have also spent just as much as if you had just bought the Umarex Notos with a hand pump in the first place. because after 3 to 4 weeks you are now spending more and more money for the air you need to shoot this gun but if you hand just done what I said you would happily be shooting and just spending money on pellets not air and pellets. To me 40 shots per cylinder is not enough & will be expensive to run ultimately. And having seen the damage a rapidly de-compressing PCP cylinder can do, a puncturable gas cylinder holding back that pressure has safety concerns IMO. I would hope Umarex also offer this gun with a refillable air tank option....that would be much more attractive IMO. Are there any implications in terms of shipping these high pressure cylinders ?

i think it is a good idea but i would like to see a air conversion bottle down the road. It seems like having to change the bottle every 38 shots can be a bother. Yet it seems simple but more expensive at the same time. I shoot 300 to 500 rounds a day ,doing pest control. that would come out to 12 cylinders a day at 11.50, that is 138 dollars a day. Not to mention pellets or lighter slugs. I do like the idea and might get one just for around the house but i see it being to expensive for a serious hunter or pester. I do like the ergonomics and design. Kudos to Umarex .but i would like to see a conversion later for a 300 or 480 cc bottle down the road( with a 250 bar fill) Or take the bottle from the Avenge X and shave off 6-8 inches from the bottle and convert it to fit the Komplete. With a longer barrel for the hunters in mind . With a 1/2unf threading on the barrel .

If this was my 1st airgun? Yes, I'd be all into it. It appears to be a great gateway gun. As much as I like to shoot though? I could potentially spend $115 a week on cartridges... 5 weeks of shooting I coulda bought a compressor and, at a similar price point, a Notos Carbine or Hatsan Jet II which are both FUN AS HELL guns that are a joy to shoot and fill fast off a ReadyAir. Now, as for introducing my nephew to modern airgunning? It's an attractive gift option. If you bought this for a neophyte marksman and they cooled to the idea or shot sparingly, you wouldn't suffer the buyer's remorse. Plus, Umarex makes good stuff (good thing, because their customer service is not very friendly in my experience. My PPQ M2 slide EXPLODED off the frame and I have a ReadyAir that shows an "S" fault after travelling ONCE, but they were such jerks when I called I guess I'm flushing that $800)

This is like the bastard child of a mating between the Gauntlet and the Umarex Octane. Not exactly backyard friendly in terms of loudness. It appears that this new design can be easily altered to use a conventional PCP air tank of the correct dimensions. For those who may own some metal working equipment, you could fabricate an adapter that went from the receiver to the conventional air tank fitted with a gauge and you should be good to go. If you opt to go with the N2 cylinders and you shoot alot of pellets, I can easily see that you might as well have saved up a bit longer and just bought a conventional PCP and a hand pump.

Hello Fellow. Airgunners, Granted, it’s more expensive than CO2, but for people living in sub-freezing temps., it’s a viable option compared to a Hammerli which like all CO2 products, is temperature dependent. This is a budget friendly survival tool. Hammerli should offer the 850 Air Magnum using this technology. That’s a good Segway into my next point, the most exciting aspect of this invention to me. That is, does this mean Umarex can now apply this technology into any and all CO2 products, like all the beautiful replicas that always leave one wanting; in the performance area?Can Umarex make 12 gram versions w/Nitrogen so a replica Peacemaker can shoot like a p.c.p.? That would be game changing, especially for survivalists that can’t justify purchasing CO2 in cold climates. I can’t wait to see how far Umarex and other companies take this technology. All the bad ass replica firearms that only operate on either CO2 or Green gas, if it’s possible to re-design them using Nitrogen, that would be transformative; I would imagine with the aficionados of Western era firearms, that have yet to enjoy air gun versions that satisfy in all areas, and older chaps that would enjoy the ease of use. Big potential here; especially if the Nitrogen becomes more affordable.

The lack of temp sensitivity is definitely a worthwhile point. Makes this an interesting gun for those that want a "prepper" tool that is ready to go when they need it without hauling pumps, tanks or compressors around. This is purchased only once, and it works for all the PCP that you want or can have, for example, Komplete- $200, pellets- (good brand) $35 each for 2 for 500 shots $75, 6.5 cylinders of nitrogen at $25 per pair (you have to buy 7) is $175: the first expense would be $450 and each time you want to continue shooting it would be $250. common!! buy any pcp and the air compressor and from then on you just have to buy pellets...
