Powerfilm LightSaver Max, Charge Everything with less weight 

Many ham radio operators opt for this. Definitely a smart move if you are comfortable swapping connectors.

It has worked well thus far, I've noticed of course that their panel is not as efficient as yours but I really wanted to increase my power input to account for weather variables and expedite charge times. Living in Florida with solar and batteries on my home has been an eye opening experience of how much weather can impact your charging ability. Using this knowledge, I wanted capability to support all of my tactical and communications equipment in the field. I plan to use this system next during some camping with the eventual goal of disaster recovery with a buddy whos already assisted the Bahamas, Texas ect. PowerFilm Solar commented that they don't suggest connecting other solar panels to the 12V input of the Max, but their website suggests that up to a 30W solar panel can be connected to reduce charging time. What is the recommended configuration in this situation?

@@xray9alpha You have to understand the position the company is in if they were to openly recommend any panel that's 30w to be plugged in to their unit. If they were to say that, they would incur the liability of accepting repairs under warranty for issues the could arise from poor quality units being plugged in. So with their statement they're basically saying, "proceed at your own risk as we don't know the quality of the unit your using if it's not our own. " Therefore, do what meets your requirements with understanding that if your unit malfunctions and you are not using their 30w panel, your on your own. As a side note, most companies would say the same thing.

@@sparda1123 Thanks for the great video. I have the LightSaver Max also and would like to augment the solar charge capability like you are showing. I've seen a couple other channels doing this but have not seen PowerFilm's "official" recommendationsye - likely for the reason you state above. Just don't want to jack up my unit. Looks like it's working for you, so thanks for sharing.
