The day has come to finally put the bushes into the E30! After having a lot of trouble with the Flo-Flex bushes we bought for the project we decided it was best to source the best possible bushes for the project. After a lot of research we found that Powerflex would solve all our problems. We got in touch with them and after discussing our needs decided on the heritage collection series of polybushes. Not only do you get the performance of a polybush, but with the heritage collection, they also look more stock. It's the way to go if you don't want to have a clashing colour bush or just prefer the stock look.
The install was extremely easy with minimum fuss. In the video you'll see us compare them to the previous Flo-flex that we originally going with. We made the right decision to replace them with Poweflex!
Sty tuned to the end and you'll see the car on its wheels for the first time in nearly two years!
Be sure to check out www.powerflex.co.uk for all your polybush needs whether it's fast road, race or classic!

That yellow circle on the tyres indicates the lightest spot on the tyre and should be placed in line with the valve stem,

Thank you! That means a lot really. There'll be more e30 videos in the future. She's going to be epic when she's done 😁 can't recommend the powerflex enough they are really top notch stuff. Good luck with the XR2i!

Hi there very good and informative video on your e30. I have wanted to upgrade to power flex for a long time especially those rear adjustable trailing arm bushings. Have you had any issues with them moving over time, messing up an alignment. They seem well engineered but I don’t want to have to be going to the alignment shop frequently because the bushings have moved. Thanks

Hi glad you found the video informative, filmed a long time ago when we were very new to the whole RU-vid thing! Makes me cringe thinking back now 😂😂. To be honest the car is still a project, but I don't think you'll have any issues with the power flex bushes there extremely well engineered

Hi there, great video thanks. I've been looking at the heritage range for my E30 Restoration. How would say the comfort is of them in normal road use? Thanks

Hi honestly I can't tell you because the car still isn't finished but the quality of the hertatige range is spot on. They are the same as powerflex's normal poly bushes just coloured black to look more stock 👍

Hi mate absolutely love the vids! I'm new to car restoration (new to cars in general) but managed to snag a 325i for my first car. I was wondering if you could put together a list of the bushings you used? Cheers and thanks for the vids. Learning a lot! Could you make some videos on individual part restoration? The work you've done is insane and I'd love to see how you tackled something like that diff for instance. Cheers, Sam

Hi, glad you managed to pick up a 325i They are getting harder to find now! Glad the video has inspired you to do your own bushes. Here's a link to the whole set, obviously we went with the heritage series but they do have some other options if you want a different look or sportier feel. We might do some more restoration of parts in the future if it's something people would like to see! Thanks for watching! www.powerflex.co.uk/products/E30+3+Series+%281982+-+1991%29-103/1.html

@@WhitelandRestorations Thank you! I used powerflex website in the end to compile a list but have gone for full lemforder/meyle rubber bushings instead. I'm going to a slightly stiffer suspension so I think this will be a good balance. With all the suspension and subframe removed I'm gonna do get rid of the Schutz style underseal the PO installed and also restore the diff. Do you have any recommendations for a new underseal protection?
@WhitelandRestorations
@WhitelandRestorations 3 года назад
Sounds like a good setup! You'll really notice a difference with the handling. I've put an LSD in my diff, can't wait to test it out 😁 as for underseal I really recommend the following procedure.... First clean off all traces of the old stuff using petrol or thinners. Then use a wire wheel on a drill to remove as much of the rust as possible if there is any. Treat any remaining areas with a rust treatment (we use Vactan). Coat any bare metal with epoxy. Then use a bed liner such as UPOL raptor to coat the underside. You can get a tintable raptor if you wanted to do it the same as the body colour (I matched the stock colour of the factory sealer which is a sorta sandy colour). As your using the raptor use a wide brush to work the stuff into the seams just like they did at the factory. Lastly probe everything with dynax to give it a lot more rust resistance for the future! Drop us a msg on insta if you want to see some pictures or if you need some more advice 👍

@@WhitelandRestorations Also considering an LSD but have yet to drive the car in winter so I think I'm gonna wait and see how slidey it is then with the stock diff first! I had a crack at removing some of the underseal (it's the bitumen type) using dry ice and a soft mallet. It worked surprisingly well and took it off in chunks which has saved the paint/underneath. As I'm doing this process anyway do you think I should take all the paint off anyway and redo it from scratch? I'm not going for concours but do want the car to last many more decades.

Hmmm 🤔 this makes me feel bad. I bought a flo flex kit for my Cortina. No destructions of any kind and the tubes are too long as well. 😭

Did you get in touch with them about your fitment issues? I just lost all confidence in them after speaking to the 'head engineer' many times and just getting messed around. Found more people with the same issues with the quality online and on RU-vid so just ripped them out. The powerflex ones are honestly night and day. They just fit perfectly!

@@WhitelandRestorations no i just machined them to fit. Sadly I can't find another supplier for my car.

We tried that with putting the knearl on the diff but after seeing what others had found too... It was the last straw. Think powerflex have a cortina range but obviously don't know if they have some for your year.
