It's very simple when you have 2 screws go through the wood into the 'table' surface. Under the wood drill a hole in the surface, some leads to the screws, and hang a battery under the surface.

I remember way way back in junior high school my science teacher rigging something like this up when one of us students asked if it were possible. He did it to demonstrate that no it is not possible & doesn’t work. There is too much loss in energy thru heat & friction & thru belt attachment so that immediately after manual force was withdrawn it would stop. Nice illusion tough. Yes, that is true, however, if there was no loss of energy to anything, that's just a flywheel battery; it is still not free energy even if there is no energy loss. Looks like power source is connected to the screw from below, which is connected as the brush. You gave it away the moment you connected a bulb and it was switched on instantly while there is no reduction on the motor speed.

Unfortunately, this cannot work, already because of the small losses due to the resistance of the cables and mechanical losses. If you then connect a consumer, such as this lamp, the whole thing comes to a defensive standstill. My guess is that the screws that go through the wood were connected to a hidden voltage source. Never hold metallic or sharp edged work pieces by hand if you drill them! Fingers don´t grow again. The ground plate could be larger to give the motor a flexible mounting point. ;) Next challenge: unit´s noise protection. :D
