Krosan Verge would be a great land to include here. It's a Myriad Landscape that gets ANY plains and forest. Riftstone Portal is another great budget option if you have a way to get it into your graveyard. Taps for a colorless on the field, but if it's in your graveyard all your lands can now tap for G OR W. Celestial Dawn is another great budget mana fixer if you're not running any utility lands. It also plays VERY nicely with Emeria Shepherd.
I was playing around with a variant of this deck and added my walking ballista to it. So op. I had forever together out, chorus of the conclave, and Hamza plus 4 creatures with counters. Played ballista for free with 4 counters on it, used 1 mana to activate together forever, removed all counters and did 4 dmg, repeat for all the 13 mana I had in my pool. 56 dmg in 1 turn. Won me the game.
I would highly recommend cutting Biophagus. It's good but I'm not sure if the effect is enough to justify the price in a budget build. Alternatively I would suggest either spending a few more dollars to get a Benevolent Hydra which is Hardened Scales on a body OR spending rather less for a Hardened Scales. Bloodspore Thrinax would be another great way to add some extra counters since this deck is making lots of tokens. Cast Bloodspore Thrinax, let it devour a handful of tokens, and then everything else comes in with THAT MANY extra +1/+1 counters. As for mana dorks I would highly suggest looking for those that scale with their power. Evolution Sage is a step in the right direction. Some I would recommend are Gyre Sage, Marwyn the Nurturer, and Heronblade Elite. I would also point out that while Marywyn and Heronblade Elite READ as tribal (And that can certainly help) it's really just increasing their power that actually matters. How is unimportant. Iridescent Hornbeetle would be a great fit here. With how many +1/+1 counters you'll be piling on your creatures Iridescent Hornbeetle will be drowning the board with insect tokens.
I found the deck needed more counters early game that’s why I justified the price.:) If you want some hardened scale budget options look no farther than conclave mentor and lae’zel vlaakiths champion. Adding some mana dorks that scale is a solid suggestion thanks for dropping a comment 👍
@@decktechsfordecks Hardened Scales IS actually pretty budget now at around $3. I had considered Lae'zel, Conclave Mentor, and Pir (Should he be within your budget). They ARE good options but don't give counters themselves.
Another card you might consider is Jiang Yanggu, Wildcrafter. As far as planeswalkers go, he's very underwhelming, but the mana he can add on a turn can allow your hand to be dumped if you're behind and you want to cast two large CMC spells in a turn. Cheap to cast as well, and if nothing else, it can be a good bait card for people to focus on while ignoring your board as you DO go wide. Also, since he's not a creature, that Blasphemous Act isn't going to affect him, but will allow you to possibly rebuild faster than others after the fact.
I hate being new to magic, I joined almost a year ago, and still only got like 1 finished deck, too many good commanders get shown off making me go all over the place starting on different decks I'll realistically never finish got at least 11 in the "brew! phase
Oh Tyrant Guard is a great choice. It plays better than it reads too. First it works with ANY counters. And second it's technically 3 cmc so Sun Titan can recur it.
I’ve been on the tyrant guard hype train since he was spoiled honestly I throw him in any counter deck I can!! You’re right sun titan and tyrant guard have a super strong synergy good catch!
Looks like a very good take for +1/+1 Counters. My first EDH deck was a Kraj Combo deck, i never got it to work and is still painfully slow, i might change from Simic to Selsenya. What do you think of Lae'zel, Vlaakith's Champion + Master Chef?
I ended up cutting Lae’zel because I found that I would rather have something that put counters in my stuff early to rush my commander out. Master chef is in the deck :) If you want some upgrades the defilers would be amazing one goes wide and the other pumps the board. Get them both on the field and you can keep casting and sacing your commander for value for almost free
Ohhhhhh I see haha my bad the deck would definitely work pretty similar the only thing is I did include a lot big boys that you might find hard to cast without hamza reducing the cost
