1. Ball --> ball --> 5th pitch 3-run HR (!!! just after talking about being patient!) 1/1 2. Ball --> ball --> 2nd pitch pop out 1/2 3. Ball --> ball --> (3:45 yes indeed sir, it is true!) 6th pitch fly out (good AB) 1/3 4. Ball --> ball --> 2nd pitch 2-run HR 2/4 5. Strike --> swinging strike (better to take, outside) --> 1st pitch fly out 0/1 ***You put on a clinic in game 1 - goes to show what a little bit of patience does for ya! 2 HR and 5 RBI that were key in the Diamondbacks team victory. First 4 ABs started with balls...and you took ‘em all! Could have taken the first pitch in that final AB - keep patient and good things will come! 6. Ball --> ball --> 2nd pitch GIDP 2/5 7. Ball --> ball --> 5th pitch strikeout (bad calls hurt the AB...Ohtani painting) 2/6 8. Ball --> ball --> 6th pitch solo HR (great AB, worked the count and hit a bomb - that’s how its done!) 3/7 9. Ball --> swinging strike (low) --> 3rd pitch strikeout (I guess a bad one was due eh? Lol) 0/2 ***7 of your first 9 ABs this series started with ball 1, with 8 of those pitches being out of the zone. They are clearly pitching around you, as predicted, and you aren’t biting. Coach won’t like 2 Ks...however, one was a BS AB, w/ a bad call and Ohtani painting low-in corners controlling that one. On the other side, coach will love the HR that more-or-less chased Ohtani from this one. Also of note...3 hits so far this series, 3 bombs - nice, make ‘em count!*** 10. Strike --> swinging strike --> 4th pitch ground out 0/3 11. Strike --> swinging strike --> 1st pitch GIDP 0/4 12. IBB 12. Ball --> ball --> 6th pitch pop up 3/8 ***Sucks to lose the hit streak, but oh well. You’ll take a team sweep over the Dodgers any day!*** First pitch: 9 balls, 3 strikes First pitch result: taken for ball = 8, swinging strike = 4 (3 in-zone, 1 outside), called strike = 0 AB Results: 3/8 after taking first pitch, 0/4 after swinging at first pitch Series - 3/12, 3 HR, 6 RBI, IBB Notes - If you swing against quality opponents as you did for the most part in this series, you’ll be an absolute matchup nightmare for any opponent. Great work! - Notice how much they pitched around you this series...in games 1 and 2, they really wanted nothing to do with ya. Because you didn’t swing at trash early, you were gifted opportunities later that you took full advantage of - Start a new hit streak tomorrow! See ya there :)
I think I'm learning... but being the reigning MVP and Silver Slugger is going to get me a lot of balls to start at-bats this season. Thanks for the great analysis, as usual!
