That’s a fine saw Wes. I was introduced to powermatic 30 years ago in my high school carpentry class. I guarantee the same machines are still there working everyday!

Great saw Wes! I bought a PM 2000 cabinet saw several years back used but in great condition and it is still running strong! No issues!

I'm looking to buy a good shop table saw, I'm comparing SawStop, Powermatic, and Laguna for table saws. Also looking at Band Saws and Laths. Very glad I watched your video. Gives me a perfect reference point to go on. Thank You.

Hi Wes nice review . I would be interested in hearing more about the differences between this and Sawstop that made you pick the PM1000. Thanks and take care .

Hi...as I said in the video, Sawstop is a good saw, especially for its safety feature. But all large cabinet saws have limitations. The biggest reason I chose Powermatic over the Sawstop was history of quality, durability, and accuracy. Also, the ability to use a molding head on the Powermatic was a major deciding factor for me. Thanks for watching, Wes.

Good morning Wes! What table saw would you recommend for someone just starting out? I'm in a wheelchair so I won't need to move it or worry about the rolling stands etc. Im looking to build small pieces of furniture (not cabinets). The largest board I would be ripping or working with is a 4x8. I will mostly be using it to rip 2x4s (hard woods) and 4x8s plywood.

I don't have a link but it was purchased from my tool retailer. Check with tool retailers in your area for recommendations. Thanks, Wes

Yes, the Powermatic is a fabulous saw. It's worth every bit of the $2700 price tag...BUT ONLY IF you're a professional woodworker. As a long-time subscriber to your channel, I have always regarded Woodworking With Wes to be geared toward the beginning-to-intermediate woodworker. For us weekend warriors, this saw (and others like it from Jet, Grizzly, and SawStop, to name a few) makes no sense at all.

Scott, I appreciate your insight. As I stated in the video, I bought this saw because I do work on it everyday. Thanks for your support, Wes

I've been a woodworking hobbyist since 1986. I really extended myself financially to buy a PM66 table saw in 1988, but it is still in use and in great condition. The motor is original, but I did replace the blade arbor and belts last year. In my experience the saw is well worth the investment, and I have no doubt the PM1000 will be the same.

Is it made in China? If so, then the answer to your question is: no, it is not worth the investment.
