My Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 arrived today and I couldn't wait to demo it with my KSR Ceres and Kemper Stage Profiler! This thing is great, especially now that it has a Presence knob which makes a huge difference!! You can also run TWO 412 cabinets with this model too!! If you get the chance, get the new Powerstage 200 because you're going to love it!

Man, I like the intro alot, I do. But ever since that one guy commented on the foit pedal sounding like wood, and you said it was you hitting a wood block. I can't stop thinking about it! I smile almost every time I watch!

Bro, anyone that remembers Tone Loc is instantly family! Hahaha!! You're going to love the PS170!! It's so great and find yourself an amazing eq pedal, like the MXR 10 Band EQ and you're going to freak out at the great tones!!

I have my PS coming tomorrow, been waiting for my new head for months now I’m hearing possibly mid may. I also like the small package since I’m not 20 anymore. Best gear channel hands down! Keep it up

@@louistorres sounds great with my EMG 81/85 Jackson, my Duncan Jackson sounds too muddy with the G4, can I tighten it up with a TS9? I’m waiting on the 6505ii for the tighter gain, I was gonna use the REVV as another gain option and fk around with it as a boost. Thanks bro

Side note ... that Mesa 290 is a killer dude!! I remember those things and the Mesa Triaxis... that KSR Ceres pre amp is a winner EVEYTIME it gets plugged in. I have had the Duncan Powerstage 200 in my Sweetwater cart for months now. The Victory Kraken pre amp through Powerstage 200 for easy travel and ear assault !!

I can’t believe Hasty sold the 2:90! You’re so lucky cause that power amp sounds incredible. I remember plugging his synergy modules like the SLO and about shitting myself cause it was so unreal sounding. Lol.

Great video, this is my exact rig. SD powerstage 200 + KSR ceres in green into a Zilla 4x12. Spoke with a guy at amptweaker he said an updated Depthfinder is expected Q1 2021

@@louistorres From what Jack at Amptweaker told me this morning it's an updated version scheduled for a Q1 2021 release. I emailed them after watching that video by Kujira studios. The Zilla is pretty sick opted for an x pattern of v30's and g12h-75's. Great guys over there at Zilla, it was nice getting to pick out the tolex, grill cloth, piping, handles, speakers and how they're wired all for about the price of a Mesa 4×12

So far I’ve tried all the small pedalboard power amps, and as of late 2020, I found the Ritter 280 SHP to be “the one”. It’s 280 watts no matter the cabinets ohm’s, has no knobs at all (the modeler has enough parameters), 140 each side stereo, 280 bridged, and is more than enough volume for anything. Try it.

I loved that Powerstage 170 but at the time, I found myself not using it as often as I should have. I think I'll use the Powerstage 200 more often because of the Headrush and Kemper I have now. :)

The space between your pre-amp and this (power amp) is your effects loop.

I use the KSR PA50 with the Profiler Stage through a KSR 1x12 with the Celestian 150 Redback. I tell you what, gigging was never easier, no more breaking my back.

Yeah man, everything is easier now and between your Stage, PA50 and 112 cabinet, you suffer less. As you get older, objects seem to suddenly get heavier too, so you're ahead of the game! I'm glad you went with KSR. Kyle is the man.

Great review brotha! Can you full stack with the power stage 200? Or say run a 4x12 and a 2x12 with a line 6 helix?

You can run two cabinets out of it in any arrangement (ie: 412 and a 212) as long as they have the same impedance. So you can use 8ohm cabinets but not 8 ohm and a 16 ohm... Your Powerstage will blow in that case.

I bought a powerstage 170 recently and and I'm running it through my triple xxx 412 cab at 16ohm mono but the volume lacks. Can I use a splitter cable and run it to the xxx cab in stereo at 8ohms without blowing up my 170?

Because there's only one output on the 170, you won't be able to power two cabinets with different ohms but I think you may be able to use the Radial Cablink Speaker Merger if you plan on doing that. :) I've never used that Cablink, so I'm not 100% certain, but call Radial directly or speak to someone at Sweetwater to confirm whether or not it will work without blowing up your Powerstage 170. :)

How do you compare the Power Stage 200 and the KSR PA50? I play the QuadCortex into a PS200 and I’m not 100% satisfied, I’m considering the PA50 to get back the power tubes and transformer punch in the gut that I miss so much. Thanks.

Bro, legit, it's night and day!! If you get the PA50, it'll be loud and brutal!! That being said, it'll also color your tone but if you adjust a few settings, you'll love it. Having both, no question, the PA50 with my Headrush Pedalboard and Kemper Stage creates loud, in your face monster tones. :)

Natural coloration of tone doesn’t bother me at all, actually since I switched to modellers I’m more concerned about total transparency because it really take out life and depth from the sound and makes it sterile and 2 dimensional, if you know what I mean. I hope the PA50 is able to get back the punch, the immediate response under your finger and the brutal ear aggression that only fat mean tube amp can deliver. I’m not talking about just volume or loudness, you know, it’s a feeling, it’s the magic of power tubes cooking and output transformers saturating. I grew up with playing with that feeling and since I trade it for convenience (only reason I got to modellers) I’m desperately looking to get it back into my tone. Anyway, thank you very much for your answer, I hope you can keep doing great videos, you totally deserve my support and subscription.

How does the power stage account for varying impedance between cabinets?

It's 200w @ 4ohm, 100w @ 8ohm and 50w @ 16ohm but it handles 4-16ohms. You CANNOT and should NOT run different ohm cabinets when running two simultaneously when using it. I'm sure you know this but just in case, I wanted to make it clear, so you don't use a 4ohm and 16ohm cabinet and wonder why your gear is now fried. If you're only using one cabinet at a time, then you're fine and again, you can use 4-16ohms with wattage diminishing at higher ohms.

It just depends if you like your tone with the MXR 10 Band. With the 200 you may not need the MXR but you're a tone seeker, so you may still use it. You can plug two cabinets into this one too! I didn't realize that until I pulled it out of the box! :)

I upgraded from the PS-170 to the 200 myself. I was very happy with the 170 but the added Presence feature and two cabinet outputs sealed the deal for me. I've used the aux input too a few times and that's pretty handy to have.

It has a fan that turns on if you use it for a while but I've beamed it at 85°F as the hottest mine has gotten.

I bought the kemper power Kabinet, 800 dollars, it is horrible. All metal amp profiles sound the same, it is very fizzy, it's has a nazel like tone, it sounds like I'm using Willie Nelson's nose as a guitar cab. It does cleans really well, and handles mild distortion very nice too, but for metal it is God awful. I just bought the powerstage 170 and a mesa 2x12 cab off of Sweetwater, crossing my fingers, if that sucks I will send the kemper back and stick with tube amps

Oh no, it sounds bad even when using IRs? When using an FRFR speaker, you definitely want to make sure you're using some speaker IR. My Headrush speakers sound terrible if I just run direct without a speaker simulator. Try it, that should make a world of difference.

I usually run mine with Mesa 412/ v30 cabinet simulator or an ENGL 412 sim.
