I've got the same setup, due to larger, heaver tires, upgraded to 33x12.5 from stock, and I cannot say enough good things about these rotors and pads! Bed them in properly and you're set. If you're towing, or lifted with beefier tires, you can't go wrong!!
Great Review and thanks for posting! I installed PowerStop towing brakes Z36 pads and rotors on the front of my 1997 GMC K1500 suburban a few years back and the stopping power is the best I ever had on this truck. Note, that my K1500 only has disk Brakes on the front , so the rear are drums..
At 4:20 the rust is from the caliper metal which has lost its paint where the caliper touches the brake pad. That break pad has stainless steel shim plate on the outside of the pad. So it isn’t the pad which is rusting. Just wanted to share that because you mentioned you weren’t sure which.
Lmfao!!! Bro…”jackwagon” that’s hilarious, my mom use to say that. Miss those days some good times gone by. Anyhooser, hopefully the brakes will be just as good on my stang. Just bought them and looking at the box contemplating a 2am brake job 🤙
Thanks for the updated review. I have been going back and forth with buying these as I live in New England and was curious as to how these would hold up under our horrible winters. They look to be holding up fine and I will purchase some for my 2015 F150 this week.
I just installed those on my f150 last week (april 2019) So far I love them. I have not did any towing yet. But I do have an RV that I'll be pulling in June. so that will be the real test.
Truck Bed Camper; Class A, B, and C Motor Home; 5th Wheel Travel Trailer; Goose Neck Travel Trailer; Pull Behind Travel Trailer; Toy Hauler Trailer; Pop Up Tent Trailer, Van Conversions - ALL are considered to be RV's.
Have them on my 06 Ranger going on 2 years now could not be more pleased with them. No dust, no noise, great stopping power and they look good too all that for under $300 when they finally wear out I will buy again.
Good channel, I like it! Thanks for the review man! I just put the powerstops on my 2017 f250 regular cab. Only about 300 miles on them. I’m interested to see how they hold up in a Western New York winter with lots of plowing. I haven’t towed with it yet, but I tow a 14’ dump trailer and a 7x14 enclosed. Can’t wait to put the powerstops to the test for myself! I plan on putting them on my ‘17 crew cab too!!
Have to love the Chicago winters! I also live on the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I always paint my rotors . I Tape off the surface and paint the cooling fins and drilled portion of my rotors. I use Eastwood’s 2k aerospray. It holds up extremely well and you will be happy with the results. It’s extra work but well worth it!
Don't forget to mount the air valve for your bags. I have a 2014 F150 and about 10 to 12 inches from the receiver on either side of the bumper is a small bolt hole.
@@Roscoschickenwaffles Have the Z26's in the rear and the Z17's in the front. They have been quiet. Very little brake dust on the rears, heck it just might be plain old dust. The front ones do get a light coat of brake dust but with weekly wipedowns using ChemicalBros soap, it becomes simple routine maintenance. All pads still look virtually brand new, plenty of meat.
I live in oak lawn close to the highschool you're video came up when I searched for a power srop review pretty cool to see someone on RU-vid from my hometown keep it up!
I will be buying a Tacoma soon but I also have an older celica. Doesn't it make sense installing semi-metallic on the Taco cause it uses drums on the rear? I believe OEM is semi-metallic? I may be wrong
Thank you for the video. I am buying a set for my ford transit 250 i haul shelving and tools to the tune of 800 pounds every day and trailer from time to time.
I bought some MAXX BRAKE on my 17' ram 1500 when i had 30k (km) and now not even 57k they're all warped and making noise... I don't tow anything heavy so i blame my aggressive driving but still is nervous having to go slow or having to change the rotor again Lol, nice video
I considered getting drilled and slotted but I figured since that’s for rain, and where I live we get three inches of rain and those holes are made in China probably the less the better.
I should mention that there is a break-in procedure you should follow. It seemed odd but appears to have worked... Heavy acceleration/breaking several times in a row
I replaced the rear pads on my moms highlander and it seams that she blew through them in under 10k miles, sounds like its metal on metal now. fronts are also bad, not sure what brand the previous owner used, but the rear are napa brand ceramic. gona try these. case 10k is nuts for ceramic IF they actually are that.
I drive a full-size 2004 Ford expedition with the power stop Z 36 kit all the way around including calipers. He fails to mention that your truck will stop so hard that it will cause A crash behind you.
You hit the nail right on the head!!! Well put...I used to tow...oh and used to work for a Major Glass Company...driving a van...they will haul to get around you...then slam on their brakes to make that right turn(most were guys being dictated to by their wives...aaarrrggghhh...I mean I'm carrying glass here...ok...never failed to amaze me...durrrrrfffeeeee DUDE
MOST every good rotor is now made in China...few are made here...so far...BUSH CLINTON BUSH OBAMA(aka Barry Soetoro) made sure of this...now that Trump is in...our jobs will be back asap...we used to be the foremost Manufacturing Capitol of Planet Earth...keep watching...but dont get me wrong...I am ordering a set asap for my car...I believe they are GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS...OK...
looking to replace my pads and rotors all the way around on my 09 civic si. OEM rotors are so expensive and Im a mechanic for Honda and rotors still very expensive . The part that scares me is how much a difference in price these rotors are compared to oem. I don't want to do the job twice and worry about brake pulsation. Thoughts?
I can say I've never felt even a shimmy come from my brakes. Whether I have a trailer or not the pedal is still very responsive. Pedal has never felt spongey always firm and prepared to stop when I need it, especially when some jackwagon cuts me off. I was skeptical too but honestly very happy how they've been performing.
Dawg, Power Stop headquarters is in Bedford Park, IL. That's right across the tracks from me and must be pretty close to you. Just installed some Z36s yesterday.
Two months after I purchased the Power Stop brake kit my right rear caliper failed and began leaking brake fluid. After waiting three weeks for the part, they now tell me the ETA is over a month away. This really sucks. I now have to buy and install a temporary generic caliper while I wait for the Power Stop caliper. Don't do it. Right Rear Leak TT797144
They're still holding up great! Last I checked they have plenty of pad left. And I'm just over 90k miles on the truck. I was just up there there the other day installing a couple cabinets for someone.
My power stop brake kit is already shaking when I brake ive only had them on for 1 year lol i took the calipers apart to see the wear and the pads look almost new however the rotors are warped in the front and i need new front rotors. Hopefully i can just machine them and that will fix the problem.
@@HitchinMitchim just ordering a new brake and rotors from max brakes pretty sure they are the distributor for power stop brakes. anyways no one around this area machines rotors down anymore its a old trade... brakes should last a few years not just 1 year...
Have these on my Jeep JK. Not impressed at all. Braking is very unpredictable and more of a slowdown instead of typical braking, like the pads are just not gripping properly. I did the break in routine multiple times and it's never solved the issue. I wish I had just went with Centrics like I normally use.
@@HitchinMitch thanks this helps out alot because they have several different kits and some come with the calipers and some don't. I didn't know if I bought the kit for the first time if I would need to purchase the modified calipers or not. It's good to know some of the kits are plug and play versions instead of an entire overhaul of what is existing on the car
I have a question, I want to put some powerstop performance brakes on my 2019 300 which ones do you recommend? I was thinking the powerstop z23 evos would be fine, if you recommend something else pls let me know thanks and also great video and review can’t wait to install some of powerstop on my 300 😀👍
@@HitchinMitch The reason I was taking about the dust I have chevy silverado with oem brakes and never seen brake dust at all, if wanted to upgrade my brakes even a little dust would make me unhappy.
@@bozkurt7673 fully understandable, I'm not one to be outside constantly cleaning my truck since its parked outside year long. But I can say the wheels have never been coated in dust with pads and seem to stay fairly clean. My oem pads would blacken my wheels within a few weeks.
If you're somebody that hates the rust like me try RP-342. Wish I had found it years ago. A smothering cosmoline wax that's really tough. Without oxygen there can be no rust. I have it all over my truck now. Working on it is a breeze. Because all the nuts and bolts are sealed from corrosion
I used caliper paint that can found at any autoparts store. I made a video of me painting my calipers. They were just bare metal prior to painting them.
Hey was woundering, did you service your brake. By that i mean , on my 2017 ram with stock pads and rotor after 40,000 km the driver side was squeaking. Had to to clean pads and discs. Was woundering if it was just cause of the stock pads ands discs. Its my first pick up, i always had cars, and never had to clean or service the brakes. Was looking in to the z36 kit, cause rams dont stop for shit.. Anyways, thanks for the video.
Squeaking is a good sign...it only means that your disc brake pads are HARD and will last a long time...ok...(I honestly hope it is not the wear indicator brushing up to the rotor itself) best check it out...
John Gray saw something about 4:16... when the camera is on the center of caliper, there is a hole and you can see what looks like a crack on the pad..
Wth you rambling about? Are you doing a review on rotors or brake pads? Why are you talking about shocks and people cutting you off man? Keep it short and to the point?
I have seen some good rotors at geobrakes.com not sure what kind of you want but they have got some good selection of heavy duty drilled and slotted ones
