Probably a bit late for you, but in case anyone else needs to know: Look inside the case under the top cover. Right behind the DVD drive is a metal latch protruding down into the case. You need to pull the latch down (into the case) and then slide the top cover forward. The top cover will then lift off. To replace the top cover put it back on the top in the forward position and then slide it back. The latch will engage automatically. No need to pull it.

Can you tell me where to order the power button switch for a xps 13 9365, and part number. I love your video!! My switch has always been very "tender" acting and now it's just not working at all. I took replaced the battery, the ports are loose, I tried to clean gunk all around but must have jogged this switch too much.

This is a terrible video. Way too close. Does not even show what has to come apart to get to the power switch.

I'm having difficulty turning on my XPS 8900 as well. Sometimes it shows 7 - 2 Orange flashes, sometimes it's 2 -1. But I read that someone found out that it's just the Power Button Switch Module. Also because even with these flashes, a few hard restart might turn the PC. So it's time to buy the power switch and do the replacement.

All you said is that you tested the switch, but never told how to test it.

@@edwiz100 Thanks, it is just the button. I have to press it for several minutes before it kicks in. I found several bu there is no button to it, just the switch.

It is not easy to get case part’s unless someone is selling one. You can try eBay search. You may try to buy a used system that doesn’t work for the case parts. Or buy a used case to transfer motherboard and internal parts. Or if you know someone that could put in a different switch. Even a toggle switch. Not sure how old the system is. You may be better off with a new system with widows 11 Let me know how things turn out.
