Thank you so very much for your tutorial. I have a viking with plastic bobbin. Do you have any recommendation to wind a bobbin. Thanks again

Hi Barbara, we find that the plastic bobbin should be the same as the metal bobbin, but you can always refer to your sewing machine manual to see if they have any suggestions. If you're using a fine thread, for instance, make sure to wind it on a slow speed and only half fill it. You can also refer to page 26 and 27 of our Quilt As You Go Handbook for all of Pauline's tips about mastering the tension on your sewing machine 😊

Pauline I'm so glad I found these videos, because I struggle with free motion quilting. I like the idea of quilt as you go, and have bought a few of your tools. But I have not quilted any of my squares yet. So I'm looking forward to watching this new series, so I can learn a new process on quilting. Thanks for posting this informative series. Looking forward to watching more.❤

I bought a grab bag of sewing supplies at the Flea Market not long ago. Inside that bag are some clear plastic templates. I had no idea what to use them for; until, I viewed you using templates (with different patterns). I thought they were for painting designs onto objects. They don't look like the one you were using.

It's hard to say what the templates you purchased could be! We manufacture our quilting templates here in Australia so they would likely be quite different (we do ship internationally though).

I’m struggling with free motion quilting on a sit down quilting longarm. Basically buyers remorse! Love my domestic machine so I’m excited for your videos. Drawing with a needle is not easy. Thank you for these videos.

You are so right that drawing with a needle is not easy. I'm so glad you found these videos as Controlled Quilting will make quilting SO much easier for you - good luck!

Try tracing your pattern onto your quilt first. Depends on if you have plastic templates, use quilts pounce, or paper, stitch on the lines with large needle and pounce. Then just stitch on the lines. Free motion quilting requires practice and getting the stitch length and drawing with the needle will come. You know when it does. Buy tops of auction sites to practice on! My cats got a wonky small quilt each from my practice attempts.
