I played Tabla with Dr Prabha Atre in jamshedpur in rag marubehag vilambit ektal and Druth teental. It is one of the rarest experience in my life which still LURKS in my memory.Pandit kishore banerjee (Top Grade Tabla Player from Delhi).
I am fortunate to listen to this raag by her in a spicmacay programme at solapur about 35 years back. An unforgettable experience. The news of her passing away , brought pain & tears. But still the gods in the heavens would be her new audience !
Kindly upload any of her live recordings of Maru bihag if you have or can access. There have been some floating around but there is only one released by the Dr Prabha Atre Foundation which is available on you tube.
So many brilliant women vocalists out of Maharashtra. Gangubai Hangal, Hirabai Barodekar, Kishori Amonkar, Veena Sahasrabuddhe, Ashwini Bhinde --such a galaxy and gallery. Classical Music is a way of life. It is sad that people don't invest in the rigorous training, that this way of life calls for, any more. Prabha Atre has one of the sweetest voices in the tradition of Hindustani Vocal Music. The combination of Maru Behag and her voice with its perfect melody, makes one think that the Heavens had opened up, and melody rained from above.....
You can add Shruti Sadolikar, Dhondutai Kulkarni, Manjiri Asnare also. If you want to include Goa marathi also then two great names Kesarbai Kerkar and Mogubai Kurdikar also need to be added. Kesarbai was perhaps the greatest of all female Hindustani classical singer ever.
She is a Goddess and her voice is divine! Every time I listen to such performances I thank God that I was born in such a country where parents introduced me to such priceless creations of mankind and taught to appreciate :)
I know im randomly asking but does someone know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
Dear brother, music has such a transforming power! Please take it as a mission in Pakistan to wipe out the curse of professional violence from there. Join hands with us. God bless you.
I also listen many Pakistani artists. Nazakat & Salamat Ali Khan are my favorite too. At my place in Pune, we also invited Nazakat ali ji's son 12 years ago for his performance too for Pune citizens.
what a lovely raag and prefer to hear in female voices , seems to be that the the female voice brings out the emotion the raag is meant to bring forth.
No Maru Bihag by any other artiste can ever ever match this. Maru Bihag immortalised in Prabhaji just as Marwa in Amir Khansab. To regale several future generations to come
When I listen to this composition, I am saddened by the crass music we get these days. Atre Ji has a great (soft) voice that is never jarring, even at the highest notes. We are taken to another world when we listen to these previous day artists. And we should remain grateful that we can hear all this wealth of music at the click of a button. I am reminded of the film songs Tum toh pyar ho sajna (Lata), Payalwali Dekhna (Kishore), Dil jo na kehe saka (Rafi) and Matwali naar tumak ( Mukesh) that are presumably based on Raag Maru Bihag.
I m very fortunate to be born in this era where such singers like Prabha Atre,Kishori Amonkar and many divine singers are born.I m listening them since 1978 onwards. In those days, I used to do batiq painting and listen to their LPs.Ultimate rendetions by them.Sunte hi raho....sunane Ka silsila kabhi khatma hi na ho....
This is heaven ! Why hanker after heaven , when we have such vocalists on earth ? . I consider this as among the top 10 best music , I have been exposed to in my life. I listen daily .
Piranha Atre & Maru Bihag is made by each other... I've listen several times in this Divine rendition and her voice and singing always take me Heaven...
I don't know for how many times I have heard this bandish. I know little about classical music. But go mad listening to the same ragas again and, till my body doesn't absorb the tones completely. Prabha ji has been one of favourite vocalist Untoubtedly all. Thank you peter

Bada khayal ‘ kal nahi aaye ‘ and drut ‘ Jagu mei sari raina ‘ by Dr. Prabha Atre are an eternal bliss ! Listening to this audio since years now , since i started learning raag Maru Bihag .
Wonderful singing I listened this over 25 years ago. In all India radio. How lucky I am able listen modern technick. Prabha will lives in our harts and new genaration too.😍🙏👍
Simply divine. स्वर्गीय. Really humbled by these great artist renditions. Very sweet voice. Even in late & ripe age of 70 and 80 , her voice sounds much younger. So classy & effortless singing. आमची पिढी खूपच भाग्यवान. या सगळ्या दिग्गजांना ऐकत मोठे झालो.
Maru Bihag, a Purvang raag is a Shringar rasa raag and suits the female voice bringing out the longing for the mate. Prabhaji has immortalized the raag.
Heavenly! ❤ So much emotional expression straight from the heart as Raag Jogiya is intended to express. His void cannot be filled but we are most greatful that we were fortunate and Blessed to have him in our life. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Prabha Atre ji has left this beautiful gift for us who were present when she walked this earth and all the blessed generations who are going to follow henceforth. Thank you Prabhaji. Surely you will find a place closest to the feet of the sarjanhaar. 13:36
