Prabhupada’s Purport, Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 4.25.41 ‒
Prabhupada: In this regard, the word vikhyatam is very significant. A man is always famous for his aggression toward a beautiful woman, and such aggression is sometimes considered rape. Although rape is not legally allowed, it is a fact that a woman likes a man who is very expert at rape.

That would not have made any difference to me. My relationship is with Radha and Krishna directly anyway. And in fact he may have actually appreciated me calling that out in fact. He has appeared in various dreams and indicated that he does appreciate me calling these things out. But even if he "threw me out" I would not have felt any malice and I would just have kept on going the way I am now. My practice is not defined by him or anyone else other than myself and Radha directly.

@@TheLustyDoll You Should Hear The Full Conversation. This controversy is silly, for it’s a common sense that rape cannot be pleasurable to the victim. But welcome to the age of Kali, where common sense itself is uncommon. There’s a psychology known as confirmation bias. Ideally one should follow where the evidence leads us, but people with confirmation bias by hook or crook make the evidences to comfirm their already established goal, they force the evidences to comfirm the already imagined conclusion. Because they are already envious of the Hare Krishna Movement, they have the confirmation bias to this extant that such silly allegations are also not rare these days. Srila Prabhupada in his books & recorded talks has ‘n’ number of times condemned Illicit sex. Even union without the purpose of procreation is condemned by Srila Prabhupada. However, here are few instances of Srila Prabhupada himself admitting that rape is torturous to women- Srila Prabhupada’s Lecture on BG 1.36 -London, July 26, 1973- “Innocent women, they are very much harassed after the war by the victorious party. You know, the soldiers are given freedom to rape the women.” Srila Prabhupada during his Morning Walk -April 20, 1974, Hyderabad - “That Central Park, nobody can walk there. I have heard from many women that they rape. The negros, they capture and rape. Life is unsafe even in a civilized city like New York.” Here itself, the entire propaganda of the opposition has been destroyed. Now, let’s draw our attention on the opponents’ most cherry picked quote from a morning walk of Srila Prabhupada where he said ‘women like rape’. The miscreants quote this again and again like a broken take recorder! There’s another place where Srila Prabhupada said women like rape, i.e. in his commentary on SB 4.25.41. It’s such a ironic defeat for the miscreants, because there if we check the sentence in it’s entirety, Srila Prabhupada in the morning walk clearly said that women like rape ‘sometimes’. The miscreants deliberately removed the term ‘sometimes’. The use of the term ‘sometimes’ by Srila Prabhupada indicates it’s an exceptional case. It depends on various factors such as how did the attack take place, was it gang rape, was it violent, was the victim very lusty, etc. And for that Srila Prabhupada cites the story of a rape case from Calcutta (currently known as Kolkata), where the victim was left alive and not killed by the rapist. The attack wasn’t violent. The victim herself in the story was made to admit to the court that she felt some pleasure although she was raped. Who on earth would be that dumb to say that? if it was truly a brutal rape assault? What Srila Prabhupada stressed in there is the psychology of women liking aggressive and forced sex, not necessarily be it rape, because rape is cruel. But rarely, it is also in the form of rape, and therefore Srila Prabhupada uses the term ‘sometimes’. And that’s what Srila Prabhupada meant to say. Forced sex gives a particular mellow which is liked by the one who is extremely lusty, be it any gender. According to the reports based on search results, and the like, forced sex is one of the most famous pornography on the porn websites. In 1985, Louis H. Janda, an associate professor of psychology at Old Dominion University, said that the sexual fantasy of being raped is the most common sexual fantasy for women. A 1988 study by Pelletier and Herold found that over half of their female respondents had fantasies of forced sex. Srila Prabhupada himself explains it while commenting on SB 4.25.41, as follows- “A man is always famous for his aggression toward a beautiful woman, and such aggression is sometimes considered rape. Although rape is not legally allowed, it is a fact that a woman likes a man who is very expert at rape.” Here again, we see the term ‘sometimes’. The man should also be ‘expert’ which indicates that the woman although hesitant initially, succumbs to the man’s ‘expert’ aggression and enjoys the attention and experience. In the very next verse (4.25.42) we find in the Sanskrit the term ‘ghrina-uddhata’, meaning “aggressive mercy.” In this verse, the woman in the story of Bhagavatam, is expressing her attraction towards the man even more openly, saying: “Actually you relieve the distress of husbandless women like us by your attractive smile and your aggressive mercy. We think that you are traveling on the surface of the earth just to benefit us only.” And commenting on the above verse, Srila Prabhupada says- “When a husbandless woman is attacked by an aggressive man, she takes his action to be mercy.” Objection- In most of the rape cases, the helpless victims seek pleasure in the moment, but that doesn’t mean they chose to be raped, or that they liked the experience. Refutation- Where's the 'objection' in this? that's what Srila Prabhupada meant to say aswell. Srila Prabhupada nowhere said that in these special cases the victims enjoyed the experience completely. He himself cites a rape case from Calcutta as an example. The woman had dragged the rapist to the court although she did feel some pleasure, as described by Prabhupada himself. Of course she didn't want to be raped, otherwise why would she had filed a case? and why would Srila Prabhupada quote this story at all? In some cases the victim is helpless and is forced to feel pleasure. True. But in some other cases the victims are already extremely lusty. They are helpless in a different sense, meaning they liked the experience but is forced to feel displeased, because there are many consequences of being raped such as possible pregnancy, danger to our social status, damage to their chastity in the eyes of others, etc. They are 'helpless' & 'forced' to dislike the rape in total. Of course this isn't the case for everyone as many have strict chastity vows.

I'm fully aware of the "context" of all this conversation. That is precisely WHY it pisses me off so much. Prabhupada KNEW better than to say this stuff but he did anyway. So the "context" in this case is more or less irrelevant. The main thing is he never apologized or acknowledged he was being cruel in laughing about such things and saying such things. Yeah "sometimes" some crazy people like the idea of being amputated and all sorts of crazy off the wall shit. By definition you can't actually "like to be raped" as it is sexual exploitation against one's will. So what if "sometimes" someone gets sexual pleasure from it? Its irrelevant to this point. If that was the case, it would actually by definition NOT be rape at all. The other point is ITS STILL CRUEL AND CRIMINAL. There is therefore NO point in saying such things. You can say "sometimes" about people liking ANYTHING. "Sometimes people who have Stockholm Syndrome "like" being abused" Which is a SYMPTOM of their abuse by the way. So women supposedly "sometimes liking" to be raped would just be a type of stockholm syndrome, a symptom OF their abuse in fact. Which makes it even worse and even more cruel to laugh about! Saying that stuff helps no one and is cruel, especially laughing about it. Which he never apologized for or made amends for. He never owned up to what he said there. The fact is Prabhupada never apologized for laughing about saying that "women like to be raped sometimes" Its the laughing part that was especially saddening. He could have EASILY apologized for that and made amends to all the people he would have known would not understand him properly. He would agree with me on this too if he was around today. Each individual has to take responsibility for what they say, including teachers. Your statement that people call this out because they are "envious" of the Hare Krishna movement makes no sense at all. No, they are just calling out unnecessary cruelty where they see it. That has nothing to do with "envy" whatsoever. In fact it has to do with actually CARING about the victims he was laughing about. The EXACT OPPOSITE of envy! There is nothing to be "envious" of in the first place anyway. LOL I myself am a Hare Krishna and take my practice very seriously and even I call this out. I am FOR the Hare Krishna movement, the good aspects of it that is. I'm not "envious" of it. Neither are people who are not Hare Krishnas either. Why in the world would we be "envious" of our own practice? That makes no sense at all. Its not "miscreant" for people to actually care about others and to want teachers to own up to what they say and apologize for being cruel in what they say and do. That is just basic compassion.

@@TheLustyDoll You Quoted "The main thing is he never apologized or acknowledged he was being cruel in laughing about such things and saying such things. Yeah "sometimes" some crazy people like the idea of being amputated and all sorts of crazy off the wall shit." If you analyze Srila Prabhupada's every statement thoroughly then you'll understand that it is his style to speak less, direct and non-generic even if the people may not be able to digest it. For example when Alfred Ford met Srila Prabhupada for the first time then Srila Prabhupada only said to him that “Where is Henry Ford now?” this single statement of him made Henry Ford a Lord Kṛṣṇa devotee and a renound member of ISKCON. This single event completely describes about Srila Prabhupada's ability to observe people's nature, he knew that which statement can convert a material person to spiritual. Hence we need to understand that Srila Prabhupada haven't said women like rape in ignorance or to demean women's position but on the other hand he just said the nature of women in a non-generic way. You Quoted "By definition you can't actually "like to be raped" as it is sexual exploitation against one's will. So what if "sometimes" someone gets sexual pleasure from it? Its irrelevant to this point. If that was the case, it would actually by definition NOT be rape at all" Rape & Illicit Defined Today, the definition of rape has become synonymous with brutal assault. But for Srila Prabhupada, his definition is based on the social standards and laws of Vedic society and thus seems to be much different at its root, and broader in its application, as noted in his use of the term in the story of King Puranjana, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Fourth Canto, Chapter 25. While the common definition today for rape is a forceful penetration without consent, it was not so long ago when rape was used in a broader sense, i.e., to rape the land, to seize or plunder or to seize or plunder womanhood, virginity. It was further then defined as sex against society’s norms and/or law. To understand what type of sex, for Srila Prabhupada, falls within the purview of “against society’s laws and norms” one need only look to a word very commonly used by Srila Prabhupada, illicit. Illicit is defined as “outside of the law; illegal; illegitimate.” For Srila Prabhupada, raised in West Bengal a century ago, and living a life of Vedic standards, his definition of rape and illicit were understood through the eyes of very different social applications. All devotees accepting initiation must follow four regulative principles, one of which is “no illicit sex.” While the definition of no illicit sex may vary slightly, all devotees would agree that at a minimum, it means no sex outside of marriage. So, what is rape for Srila Prabhupada? How do we understand the use of rape and illicit in their everyday application and in his purport to the story of King Puranjana. In both instances, they in fact refer to all sex performed outside of marriage. Let us look more closely at the use of the word rape in the context of this very same Srimad-Bhagavatam purport, and while reading this text, consider: What is the act being described that Srila Prabhupada is using to exemplify his definition of rape. In this context, is this act of rape consensual? You may find it helpful, as a reminder of the tone and mood of the original passage in Srimad-Bhagavatam, to reread that section. It is, in fact, the description of “a woman enjoying rape,” as commented on by Srila Prabhupada. It will also be good for those who are unfamiliar with the actual passage to read it.

When I left ISKCON, I spent about six months to a year trying to answer the question of whether it was the books or the people who were the real problem behind all the abuses I experienced. Did ISKCON fall from some utopian grace, while Prabhupada was around? Or were the abuses baked into the books to begin with? Turns out it was the books. It was Prabhupada. And I hate calling him that. Swami Bhaktivedanta is a stretch. Abhay Charan De. I'd call him by his birth name more often, but I'm certainly not giving him the honorific title of "Prabhupada".

Krishna Consciousness is very different than mundane material life. Some concepts are very controversial. But, these concepts are the way the material world actually is working. Don't be deluded. The present age is an age where everything is wrong. And as this present age progresses, it will not get any better, it will get worse. But, the solice is that this material world is not where any living entity belongs. All living entities are meant to live in the Spiritual Realm. The material world is a place of suffering. The material world, often seems unfair. On the other hand, the Spiritual World is completely conscious and full of true happiness. That is where we belong. Don't let your so-called modern education and modern values rob you of the great opportunity available to you in this human form of life.

I'm an Indian Hindu, a devotee of Krishna, and I know that ISKCON is a cult with many of its tenets going against the very religion and tradition (Hinduism/Vedic culture) it claims to be a part of. If you are interested in eastern religions or spirituality, please do some research yourself, study the cultural context, and follow the practices yourself. You don't necessarily need an organization or a cult for that. Start with reading the main scripture of the religion you wish to practice, ex. - Bhagavad Gita (NOT the ISKCoN version), Upanishads or Yoga Sutras for Hinduism.

So Prabhupada saying that women like to be raped is the same as him saying that: "people dying of disease enjoy dying of disease" or "amputees in pain like to be in pain" Its total insane cruelty to say or even suggest such things. Total madness. The only reason folks get away with saying ANYTHING of this insane magnitude, IS IF THEY HAVE A CULT FOLLOWING. IN RELATION TO THIS TOPIC: Prabhupada's vocal opposition to sannyasis funding hospitals was very strange and never sat right with me. A: Because Sannyasa is not even supposed to be a thing ANYWAY in Kali Yuga (according to Chaitanya directly) And its OBVIOUS WHY! All that comes out of it is kids more than likely getting raped, that's it. B: So therefore why NOT help fund hospitals if you have the money to do so? The claim that a hospital or dentist "does not help the soul" does not even make sense IF you actually do believe in the soul. When I get my teeth cleaned and am aware of the horror I was saved from if I had no dentist around it is a very devotionally uplifting SOULFUL experience for me if there ever was one. I would be really pissed off if I knew that a dental office or hospital that could have been built was specifically not funded due to a sannyasi or whoever thinking it "did not directly help my soul" I'd be like what the f--- man! So now I'm just gonna die needlessly or have my teeth get fucked for no reason now?! Or especially if my loved ones prematurely died of Covid or some other disease due to lack of hospitals available because some cult leader said so. That would really piss me off actually. Being saved and cared for by people in a hospital or at the dentist is a very uplifting experience that can greatly help increase a person's confidence in devotion by increasing their appreciation for other people's help. But in the world of culty "spiritual" matters, its all just big bombastic words and vast lofty concepts and constantly being told to "submit" to somebody. To either man or God "or else". One big continual threat nonstop.

I think I'm going to have to add more categories of female psychology in this sociological and social psychology understanding of women in cults. Internalised Patriarchalism, Radical Feminism, Internalised Misogyny, Gender Separatism, Gynephillic Masochism, and the newest and last one would be Female Asceticism. Female asceticism is when a woman willingly takes on gender based discrimination and suffering as an spiritual austerity.

Women were deeply treated unfair, were to be bowed down to the males, told to stay in the kitchen and cook where they belong, and much more misogyny that I can't discuss cause I may die from anger talking about this bullshit. My family are one of an orthodox household and I don't mind them being part of whatever as long as I'm not involved. I was looked down and got no defence from other women sitting RIGHT beside me, nodding persistently at the high male devotee when I and he were arguing about this topic and told me that "Pfft. You know nothing, kid. You're thirteen! Go pray and play with your friends." Thus, continued to cackle at me. I regretted that a day later but realized that I had better things to do rather than waste my time bickering with a stupid illiterate scoundrel. I liked your video, keep up!

Whenever I approached someone about this I would often get the same reply over and over which was "it's taken out of context " or "he didn't mean it like that" I have not read any Iskcon books for ages and I am thinking of giving them away. I also think there are too many cult types brainwashed devotees who think their way is the only way or they seem to have some form of monopoly over spirituality and Krishna. They also have a habit of attacking atheists but can't seem to back up any of their beliefs using any logical or rational thought. I don't see them any different to the Abrahamic faiths.

They are very dangerous. Tamala Krsna: So we’re… I thought there were girls in Vrindävana now. They said that they’re going to have the girls’ gurukula behind the boys’ gurukula. Gopäla was talking about that. Prabhupada: No, no, no. No girls. Tamala Krsna: It should be in another city or somewhere else. Prabhupada: Yes. That is mistake. They should be taught how to become obedient to the husband. Tamala Krsna: Yeah, you won’t learn that in school. Prabhupada: Little education, they can… Tamala Krsna: Yeah. That they can get at home also. Prabhupada: They should be stopped, this practice of prostitution. This is a very bad system in Europe and America. The boys and girls, they are educated-coeducation. From the very beginning of their life they become prostitutes. And they encourage. Morning Walk - March 14, 1974, Vrindavan: I mean, some of this stuff is kind of funny. He thinks all western women are prostitutes. Lmao. Some of the sections look like they are coming straight from the quran, the hadith and the mouth of a muslim than it is coming from a realised Sannyasi. Like a lot of the ideas they have in about the submission of women in Wahhabi Islam are very similar. Beating her with a stick, the testimony of a rape, submission to husband, child marriages, etc. No offence to muslims, but there is a lot of that gender discrimination stuff in the quran.

I've met like a few women in the Hare Krishna movement, and I notice some of them like to play that role of the submissive housewife for a religious household, a silent and demure domestic goddess essentially. It's really interesting this internalised misogyny culture that attracts women into the organisation. Its a very patriarchal and sexist organisation that seems to simultaneously attract radical feminists. In a documentary on the Rebbe of the Chabad Lubbavitch movement , 'The Lubavitcher Rebbe - Documentary on the Chabad Movement (1988)', Ada Rapaport explains why radical feminists are drawn to highly conservative religious movements such as the Chabad movement. Ada Rapoport-Albert, Professor of Hebrew and Jewish Studies in London “Chabad recognised the tremendous potential force of women in determining the religious observant nature of each household, appealing to women to observe in the first instance: the commandments, the ritual commandments that affect women, specifically; and to guard the Jewish character of the household. Interestingly, since the 1960’s the kind of appeal to women that Chabad have got has coincided very helpfully to them, with the sentiments of of radical feminists who advocate, similarly, complete separatism between men and women, and the have there consciously exploited this proximity of ideas, by speaking about space for women that they can offer, using the language of radical feminism to bring women into their own separatist world and they have made tremendous conquests amongst disappointed feminists who had found a very fulfilling role for themselves as women within the fold of Chabad”
@GauraRader
@GauraRader 3 года назад
The appeal of a cult is deliverance from suffering. So not surprising some women find this solution as attractive. Anytime you offer a solution to someone’s suffering you can manage to convince some people to accept it. When someone is suffering they are vulnerable and women have certainly suffered and do suffer under what remains of patriarchal values and social structures.
@MrMikkyn
@MrMikkyn 3 года назад
@@GauraRader The solution to a woman's suffering is to give her a husband in an arranged marriage, make her into a domestic goddess, give her the opportunity to raise kids in a religious household, a community of other religiously minded women, and give her a bible and scripture written and translated by a misogynistic tobacco smuggling, snuff sniffing, 11 year old marrying, wife abandoning religious dictator. Its like they think the solution to their suffering is a religious patriarchy and devotion to a misogynistic guru.

Wow! So refreshing to hear this being called out. I used to sit seething listening to this garbage, and would always wonder what other people were thinking and feeling about it. There was definitely a group of older female devotees who really thought this was all true and good, and that going along with it made them a good wife etc etc. When I lived in the temple I never grew my hair long, in fact I would periodically shave it off then let it grow back for 6 months or so. One time an older materji, a Prabhupada disciple, called me over and told me I would never get a husband unless I had short hair. I didn't say much, just shrugged and walked away, but I wish I had said what I was thinking, which was that I wouldn't want a husband who judged me based on the length of my hair, in fact I didn't want a husband at all, I have never had the desire to be married, 53 years old very happily single with a wonderful adult son who I am very proud of, and two fantastic dogs who mean everything to me. I'm such a sudra, right?! Oh, and that devotee who told me I should grow my hair, a few months after she said that to me, it came out that she was having an affair with another devotees husband and they would watch porn together. So yeah. I call bs on the lot of it!!!

@jdagni
@jdagni 2 года назад
That has become a common explanation in recent years. However, as the video demonstrates, at the heart of Prabhupada’s conception of reality lies the ill conceived notion that women are the personifications of men’s selfish desires. This positions women as the lowest moral beings in the imagined moral universe of varna-aśrama, as well as the locus of everything men are taught to despise as obstacles on the spiritual path. This is a radical religion that teaches ‘spiritual success’ is the only goal worth working toward. If women are the root cause of spiritual failure, they are the ultimate cause of all human suffering. Prabhupada doesn’t put it in those terms, but those are the implications of his teachings. The cult makes a few weak attempts to mitigate this portrayal of women rhetorically, but the dogma has this especially ugly form of misogyny in its foundational precepts regarding the nature of the world and what it means to be human. There really is no getting away from it if you accept almost any of Prabhupada’s teachings. It all leads back to this point.

Some of these big demons in America especially, they are beginning to understand that you are the most dangerous personality in the world to them. Prabhupada: To kill demon-crazy, LSD. (laughs) Yes, that is my mission. That is Krsna’s mission, paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam BG 4.8 , to kill all these demons, crazy demons. I have no such power; otherwise I would have killed them. Either establish Krsna conscious government or kill them- bas, finish. I would have done that, violence. Tamala Krsna: Yes, when good argument fails? Prabhupada: Kill them. Finish. Just like Parasurama did. Kill all them, twenty-one times. Prabhupad advocated killing, and he did not vet his disciples Kirtanananda and Kirtanananda and Radhanath Swami and all the other associates killed or ordered the killing of Sulocana & Briant. Not sure if there is a causal relationship between what he said, and what happened in his organisation - but it definitely seems like Prabhupad is to blame for the death of Sulocana and Briant.

Especially the fact that he misquotes from the other puranas and forces people not to read other scriptures.. the whole movement declare that only his translations are bonafide and hence never read any other translation of BG or Bhagavatam.. i myself have seen inserts line after line in his work. What Ive found is that when you describe abuse that has gone on, you are deemed as being offensive to the movement and towards devotees. Thus the abuse is converted into the victim being offensive. I as beaten up at New Mayapur and when I approached a Maharaja right after it happend, on Prabhupadas apperance day of all days, the Maharaja, told me, to agree with the person who beat me up if he beats me again to tell him "yes your probably right" and I had to leave on foot and walk 6 months to the next temple only to be told I wasnt welcome. Ironically she believes in Jesus too. I'd really rather we could just be good old fashion Christians at this point

Prabhupada: I condemn everyone, that “You are all dogs and hogs.” And United Nations a pack of dogs barking. That’s a fact. And in Chicago I said, all women, “You cannot have freedom. You have got only thirty-four-ounce brain, and man has got sixty-four-ounce.” I told them. So I became a subject of very great criticism. Trivikrama: Women’s liberation. Prabhupada: I denied, “No, you cannot have.” I told them. One girl in the airship, she was seeing like (makes some gesture-laughter). I asked her, “Give me 7-Up.” “It is locked now.” So I frankly said that “No, no. You cannot have equal rights because your brain is thirty-four ounce.” Actually that’s a fact. Do we see dogs committing child abuse like SP's students did and that he ignored, and allowed to continue, even after ruining so many lives? Do dogs create an organization that turned to full on racketeering, human labor trafficking and stealing? Dogs can be violent, but are F'n better than humans in so many ways. Dogs are honest. As far as people who are in his cult being the only ones classified as humans, that is racial bullshit. We are all animals and although humans invented pizza and rick music, as far as I can see, dogs are the better and more honest creatures............. Surely it would be possible to make the argument that the Vedic system of marriage, according to Prabhupada at least, is a type of legalised enforced prostitution or sexual slavery. No matter your feelings, as a woman you just have to accept the husband you have, serve him in every way including sexually, never challenge him or complain, just put up and shut up. Sure sounds like slavery to me. I'm so glad I resisted ISKCONs multiple attempts to get me married, I always flat out refused, and thank goodness I did. I can't imagine how miserable my life might have been. The patronising misogyny and double standards are rife in that organisation, and absolutely vile. I especially hate the bit that says after a girls first menstruation, the husband is ready!!!! The husband!! What about that poor little girl? These men are basically pedophiles, in a system that has legalised it. How anyone can even attempt to justify it blows my mind.

Srila Prabhupada studied British English, learning from dictionaries from the 19th century. It was not uncommon even for some of his disciples to have some difficulty in understanding his English due to his particular accent and use of words. An old meaning of the word rape was "to seize and carry off" (in other words, to steal, or to take possession of something), and that was a meaning listed in such dictionaries. Understanding the situation (a man making advances over a willing woman, winning her heart and taking her hand) becomes clear that Prabhupada is not using the world "rape" in the modern sense, but to describe the process of assertive seduction that is the basis of the love affairs between men and women. When everything is understood, we can appreciate what Srila Prabhupada wrote: "Every husband is certainly a great hero to his wife. In other words, if a woman loves a man, that man appears very beautiful and magnanimous. Unless one becomes beautiful in the eyes of another, one cannot dedicate his whole life to another. The husband is considered very magnanimous because he gives as many children to the wife as she likes. Every woman is fond of children; therefore any husband who can please his wife by sex and give her children is considered very magnanimous. Not only does the husband become magnanimous by begetting children, but by giving his wife ornaments, nice food and dresses, he keeps her completely under submission. Such a satisfied wife will never give up the company of her husband. Manu-saṁhitā recommends that to keep a wife satisfied a husband should give her some ornaments because women are generally fond of home, ornaments, dresses, children, etc. In this way the woman is the center of all material enjoyment. In this regard, the word vikhyātam is very significant. A man is always famous for his aggression toward a beautiful woman, and such aggression is sometimes considered rape. Although rape is not legally allowed, it is a fact that a woman likes a man who is very expert at rape." (SB 4.25.41)
@GauraRader
@GauraRader Год назад
As I said in the video the problem with that attempt to explain away Prabhupada’s statement is the he specifically says rape is not allowed according to the law but women like it. If he were just meant “aggressive seduction” by the term “rape” then it would not make sense for him to say that rape was illegal. Him stating that rape is illegal makes it clear what he means by rape. It’s not a pleasant truth but it is the only logical inference. Prabhupada is literally saying, rape is illegal but women like it. Not to mention the many other statements he made about women, stating that women should be beaten, are less intelligent, shouldn’t be given freedom, etc etc. even if you could explain this one quote there is still plenty of statements that ought to make anyone who cares from the welfare of women reject his teachings and question the notion that he is enlightened or a pure devotee or anything like. But as I said the statement can’t be explained away because he himself defines rape as being illegal.

Had you comprehended Prabhupada's immense generosity, soft-heartedness and compassionate nature and I'm not alluding to mere cheerful charisma, you might have refrained from creating this video. I detect a lack of familiarity with Prabhupada's true nature and a deficiency in grasping the broader perspective of his comprehensive vision concerning the material world in relation to the spiritual realm. The capability to distinguish between matter and spirit transforms one's perception of the dynamics within this world. Prabhupada didn't conform to politically correct speech. Driven by his unwavering conviction and eagerness to disseminate truth, he often communicated directly and resolutely. This directness, especially in conversations, might be perplexing for listeners who lack that comprehensive vision and understanding of the illusory nature of this world. As the saying goes: the words of a saint can be as hard as a thunderbolt or as soft as a rose, depending on the circumstances. However, I understand the reactions of certain individuals to these statements, and they are open for discussion. Nevertheless, having given it due consideration, I maintain this conviction.

I took me years of deprogramming to get to the point where I could actually the appropriate amount of revulsion and anger toward the statements he made. At first I was much more respectful but after a number of years my mind cleared as the brainwashing wore off. So maybe I’m not familiar with his teachings or maybe just maybe the constant glorification of this person, at his instruction of course, has bias your thinking and left you with some blind spots in your understanding of this man, his teachings and the HK “philosophy.” And just to be clear, I don’t think he was some sort of vicious evil person. His beliefs were fairly run of the mill for an Indian born in the 1800s, but I do think he shouldn’t be listened to or treated as an authority and that he should not be listened to and certainly not worshiped. But of course no human should be worshipped!

@@GauraRader Srila Prabhupada may have presented facts regarding gender, race, or species in a manner that could be debated, yet he never endorsed discrimination or favored any living being based on the body they possessed. What is the benefit for the women? I discuss this in my latest book, "Gold, Guns and God, Vol. 4: Deviations in the Dhama." Chapter 40: Three Things Improve with a Good Beating: The women considered beatings from their husbands as mercy. They understood from Prabhupada's books that they had mostly bad qualities and that they needed to be disciplined in order to succeed at spiritual life. "Getting the mercy" (receiving a beating) was regarded simply as a physical manifestation of the more common "getting the sauce" (receiving a verbal chastisement). When a woman came to mangal-aroti with a black eye, she told her friends, "Last night I got the mercy!" henrydoktorski.com/Gold_Guns_God/Vol4.html

When examining the style and grammar of the Gita it is clear that at least five different authors have written quite a number of slokas in that book. The provenance of the Gita is hard to determine because it was part of the Mahabharata which was written around 2500 years ago and he has no doubt greatly evolved in the various versions and tellings of that story. There may be an oral tradition which could take this storyline back another several hundred years in part but there's no evidence for that and we have to examine that idea against the vedic/cultural traditions which preceded 2500 years ago. There is no language, grammar or style or content which would make the Gita 5000 years old. Krishna was not even a thing then if you take the time to explore Vedanta. This is all known by Vedic/Sanskrit scholars, including great scholars in the Srivaishnava tradition and others. Also ask yourself why there was never a single mention of the Bhagavat Purana/Srimad Bhagavatam prior to around 500 years ago? Honestly friend, this universe is a whole lot bigger than some silly fairy stories about a blue boy god who enjoys sex with young girls in a heaven based on an idyllic Indian medieval pastoral landscape and totally unsubstantiated and uncorroborated yarns about a 'golden avatar' 500 years ago . . . go and seek your answers elsewhere but don't believe in fools and liars who can't even accept experiential reality and decent scholarship.

Not sure who you learned Bhakti from, but whoever it was, did not have a deep understanding. You never met Prabhupada, unfortunately. You would know of his special qualities, perhaps, which were always on the transcendent plane if you had met him, while he was discussing the spectrum of qualities of toxic masculine and toxic feminine, and the divine masculine and the divine feminine, as we might frame them today. Prabhupada never advocated the suppression of women or anyone else, and was very kind to his disciples who were struggling, whether they were male or female, gay or straight. This is a fact, and his actual disciples can attest to this. Material desires, of which sex is the most powerful, are the bars that keep everyone in the prison of material life - aside from sex for the conception of children. That is the highest standard if one wants to follow the path of liberation. Many may not like to hear that, especially people who have a type of sexual attachment where there is no possibility of conceiving a child. If you cannot eventually give up your gay desires, you are free stay in the cycle of birth and death eternally - along with all of it's concomitant suffering - to enjoy the fruits of your free will choices. God will still love you, but you will stay in the material confines, until you can selflessly love, as opposed to endlessly lust. You want to find fault and misrepresent the only person who would tell you the truth. Sad for you, that your false ego will not allow you to accept higher truths, and find fault with others, rather than face yourself and your own frailties, and class-action victim fetish. Prime Minister of India, Modi, has made a video where he praises Prabhupada as one of the most important spiritual figures and honorable sons of India ever. He has actually done the research - but you want to misrepresent someone never met, and "cancel" a great personality. You can have your opinion and your minuscule total 800 followers, but there are millions of others who disagree with you, for good reasons. Hundreds of times Prabhupada has advised that women should be honored and protected, like one's own mother. Your view of reality is truly perverted.

This is the classic: look what the person said! but don't look at what he did. Be genuinely intelligent, and look at what Prabhupada did! These comments of Prabhupada are indeed very unfortunate, BUT his actions are very happy. Prabhupada introduced women into practices that were unacceptable in India. Prabhupada welcomed women to be initiated, be pujaris, give classes, he directly encouraged Yamuna and other devotees a lot. People don't understand anything about the history of ISKCON. Iskcon became a fanatical environment with Prabhupada's departure from the planet. But Prabhupada did much more for women, animals and people than people who make videos highlighting half a dozen of Prabupada's bad statements, among hundreds of incredible attitudes. Men who often beat women, cheated, were terrible husbands, boyfriends, looked at pornography, etc., are criticizing Prabhupada's statements, while his attitudes should speak louder. Pay attention, this guy emphasizes speeches, more than attitudes. And I say this with good heart towards him, I am a woman in the movement and I have a lot of sexual, religious and preaching freedom. I have a leadership role, I teach, I speak my opinion openly, I am not repressed sexually, emotionally or in any way. I have a lot of support and a very healthy practice. People need to understand that religions have very sick people, this does not mean that all practitioners are not happy or are no good, this is childish.

Srila Prabhupada was not sexist as you and others believe. The fact that he has had and continues to have SO many female followers and disciples, (many are having their initiation ceremony in Alachua and all over the world, and will continue to have such for a long time into the future,) is a significant testament of this. You know I try hard to be mild and friendly and try to help all others despite their shortcomings and those of my own. So you should not take what I will say next as an attack or some display of anger or the like, but the facts are that you have displayed to me directly, how you don't always honor women as ideally. Yet, you label Srila Prabhupada as sexist, when millions of ladies state that they feel saved and protected by Srila Prabhupada. Many if not most of these ladies are of higher intelligence and know well the teachings of Srila Prabhupada about women, yet unlike you, they consider Srila Prabhupada as their eternal savior. So for our own good, we should ideally try to work on our own obvious lack of sensitivity and empathy toward women, before we risk wrongly judging others on the matter. This would be honest, practical and for sure more progressive. It would help you having more people read your books, which is what I have been trying to get people to do. This "Jewish" hypnotherapist from Hawaii, (Ex Hanuman "Swami," has broadcasted about saintly qualities of Srila Prabhupada he experienced. I think he also admits that Krishna is God. I think that you have felt very hurt and cheated and are blaming Srila Prabhupada and you may think Krishna is not God and should be blamed also. If so, at least admit that a billion people accept Krishna as God on the planet and practically all Sanskrit and religious scholars, don't only give much credit to Srila Prabhupada due to his excellent scholarship, (books,) but some place special emphasis on his simple and clean character and the fact that he "walked his talk". You should also admit to your wrong decision to give 15 years of your life to Kirtanananda. You could have certainly done much better than that, as many of us did make sure you mark your level of responsibility for your own bad decisions and don’t just blame the false guru, Srila Prabhupada and perhaps Krishna. Regarding "racism" from Srila Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada is not a racist, but he is not in illusion and a foolish sentimentalist either. He as many know, African people are very violent. In Africa, they have a history of slavery and genocide of other African tribes at the drop of a hat. A tenant of mine who was a UN special forces commander in Africa, told me that part of their training is to make sure they don't accept invitations to eat from various tribe chiefs, because they kill, put in a river for a couple of days (to soften the flesh,) the body of a 12 year old girl and serve it to guests as their highest honor in their culture. Cannibalism or raksasa practice is going on today in Africa. In USA, since the 70s till 2005, 94% of murders of blacks were committed by other blacks. That has gone down to 88% in recent years, but still shows their disregard for their own lives as is the historical case in Africa, and the lives of other races too. The Vedic culture RIGHTLY, does not encourage and less so allows that such violence that make for victimization of the general population go unchecked. So these acts of violent victimizations of others is checked by the Krishna conscious governments. The grossly violent are allowed to live in the wilderness, or they are controlled with proper engagement, education and opportunities to advance to become a mystic or true protector and lover of all. Although this is not easy for the common man to understand, it is not slavery, but a top most progressive system that by law and order, education and other opportunities, the violent element in society is given a good chance for a more progressive and nonviolent life. Srila Prabhupada understood that the only way to help the blacks and everyone, is to share the KC principles, and there are MANY blacks that know what we are discussing now, and they see as their best hope, is to live by the Krishna conscious principles advocated by Srila Prabhupada. Did not touch on the child abuse that Srila Prabhupada is blamed for, but we know he preached the children should not be hit but loved and that he gave immediate orders the offenders should be "hanged" before being kicked out, and that order has been honored at least in part. The rascals were exposed and they had to pay 26 million for their abuse, (not a small amount,) while when PBS called me for help, they agreed that the abuse had nothing to do with Srila Prabhupada or Sri Krishna, and under my advise, they agreed to interview a double Ph.D, who made a clear distinction between Krishna, Srila Prabhupada and the rascal abusers. Hare Krishna. I hope you search within yourself about stuff that may make it so you are not respected and your books are not read as they should be.

"Women like a man who is expert at rape" means that a woman enjoys non consensual sex (rape). How can that be so? A woman consents not to being exploited when having sex, but rather to being loved. And yet, when a man is having sex with a woman there is a degree of exploitation of her body taking place. And women enjoy that, even though they are not consenting to that - and while thinking they are being loved. You could also say the same for a man because women also exploit men, who really want to be loved, but who are actually being exploited without their consent. And yet they think it's pleasurable.

Old English dictionaries define rape as seduction etc. Prabhupada graduated in early 1900s. He doesn't mean it as what is meant during the current highly degraded times. Any person who studies even a little of so many books that he has written or so much that he has said, can understand that
@GauraRader
@GauraRader Год назад
@rahulg_music
@rahulg_music Год назад
@@GauraRader Prabhupada never advocated beating of women. He might have brought up Chanakya Pandit's few such quotes rarely, but when studied holistically that's not Prabhupada's overall message regarding how women or any living entity should be treated. A few of such statements are peripheral statements, not his core messages to which he devoted most of his time. This cannot be resolved properly without a proper understanding of different cultures and societies in different eras, which will require a short discussion

You can judge a thing by its result. Woman love a man who is aggressive. As much as I hate that fact it's true. And it's because violence is an asset for the home. Men mess up when our violence isn't channeled properly. Woman aren't so great at life.. they mess up too, especially when men don't protect them (when they're given independence). The solution is actually there in Prabhupadas books and vaisnava culture. Men should protect woman and woman should serve their husbands. That's how it has always been till recently and recently the world is more messed up than ever. Keep it real brother.

Prabhupada was a product of His time and where He was from... Check out Mahatma Gandhi fore example. Many Indian people involved in the anti-colonial movement against the British empire had quit a positive view of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich. We have millions of Lutherans in Europe and the United States of America... Martin Luther's writings ain't politically correct with most peoples point of view. The problem is when one can't reform a movement and have a balanced approach. I am not claiming that these things are easy. Even a figure like Karl Marx wrote stuff about people in the third world that is totally absurd for Marxists today. The anarchist Bakunin also wrote "anti PC" stuff if one look at it with the eyes of our time.

I can’t tell if you are saying that, as a way of minimizing, this criticism of SP or just as a general statement of fact. Everyone is a product of their time for sure! @@GauraRader There are plenty of women in Iskcon who do not have a problem with this stuff. They are in senior positions, temple presidents, teachers. Yes there's ongoing discussions about whether women should be gurus, but the basic point is that men have a responsibility to protect and care for women so they can safely raise children, rather than exploiting them by putting them out to work. It's just the same with Islam. You can't tell me Western women are happier with all their "freedom". Half of them will never marry, will never have children, have high rates of depression, divorce etc, which is why the birthrate is below replacement rate, which will have catastrophic consequences. You no doubt remember the old joke that the rate of divorce in India has doubled. It's gone from one percent to two percent. That's because they still follow these traditional values. SP's Victorian attitudes to women are no reason not to join or leave the organisation. Western women are responsible for their own misery.

Western liberalism leads to misery, which is why SP, and Muslims, preach against it.
