Sound hit without kicks or other background noise? That's what we're dealing with today!
To begin with, how is a tone produced on the brass instrument?
We keep our lips closed, the incoming air flows over the tongue against these closed lips. If we hold our facial muscles around our mouth against the resulting pressure, our lips begin to vibrate - a sound is produced on our instrument. 🎺
In order to practice hitting the notes, we play a note in the middle register. I recommend you to start with c1, g1 or c2 at the beginning. We start as described above and play a short, bumped note. Pay attention to the correct air pressure, impact and lip tension. Important: We play the notes several times. This sharpens our hearing, body awareness and the ability to choose the right setting for the respective tone right from the start.
After playing the note, we erase our embouchure and start making our adjustments again to play a new nudged short note. If one tone works, let's take a second, third, etc.... 💪
I hope I was able to help you with my thoughts, exercises, tips and tricks on this important trumpet topic/video. Here's to a good cooperation and always remember: Stay tuned is the motto!
See you soon and Ciao!!! Your Nico 👍
