Brent Venables met with the media earlier today and updated his team's progress as they get ready to face No. 1 Texas Saturday inside the Cotton Bowl. Injuries? Faith in true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. in his first OU/TX game? What about facing Steve Sarkisian once again? OU is trying to learn from the last two SEC games and their offensive struggles. They'll need lots of things to go right if they want to get back in the national conversation. But a win against Texas will do exactly that.

I'm hoping we get Sawchuk to finally show up this year. Sawchuk, Tatum, and Hawkins could give us a solid run game. We'll see, I guess.

As far as DC, Venables might be unmatched, but if not definitely one of the greats. But as a HC he’s got a lot to learn. If he ever wants to be at Saban’s level he has to put his emotions aside and play the best players and not the most senior player. If BV knew that Hawkins was the better QB during spring, summer and fall camps over JA, he should’ve named Hawkins the starter from the beginning. He’s not benefiting the fans, players or the program by not putting out the best product.

He’s been doing that a lot this year. Putting the best players out there. Nothing Brent can do about the lack of skill at the skill positions due to injury…and he’ll never be Saban level

The big plays are there, just most of the time there’s a flag or Hawkins has failed to look downfield a lot when scrambling and has missed guys running wide open. All about guys playing consistently and executing.

yall have to stop saying "oh we saw a vanilla offense vs auburn". Our offense IS vanilla. There IS NO "other plays". We have a playbook of about ten plays at best. I would suspect Litrell prob added 1-2 at BEST for Texas. Some trick play that wont work that will screw up our momentum. What we see is what we will get. I do not expect ANYTHING different from what we have seen from Litrell so far. He is basically playing for the other team.

I kind of agree. There are only so many running concepts you can do when every week you have different linemen every game, but this will be the second game of the starters being back. Hopefully we get some more running schemes.

I absolutely agree! Regardless of if we end the season at 10-2 or 6-6, Seth Littrell was not a good choice for OC.

He's gone after this year. No more buddy or alum hires. Too much young talent out there at OC that could improve this offense towards our normal yearly offense

It's not on Litrell it's up to the players to execute whats in front of them . Litrell is in a bad position you have no O-Line,your Quarterback situation is inconsistent,and your receivers are beat up and runninbacks are non existent. Litrell can't trust anyone on this offense so he has to make the best choice to put them in position to hopefully not to overwhelm the offense and hopefully turn it over. I'm not saying Litrell is the best OC in the country but he's been around long enough to know what he's doing.

We should use misdirection and reverses and throw the ball downfield and pop the ball over to the TE in the middle of the field. That’s my couch take.

If r mason thomas leaves for the draft, does OU move dasan to defensive end? That’s what he played at Indiana, and is probably his strength, he should not be out in coverage. We lose a lot of ends if r mason enters

I'm going to put the over/under for Texas at 30. If we hold them to less, we have a chance, but if they score more we're in trouble. The turnover battle is going to be VITAL!
