Not sure if this helps anyone but I wrote it down: Step 1: Left hand arpeggios: - D, F#, A, D (2nd time stop at F#) - B, D, F#, B - A, C#, E, A - G, B, D, G Step 2: Right hand triad (inversions): - D major: root (D, F#, A); 1st inversion (F#, A, D): finger 2 instead of 3 and move hand forward; 2nd inversion (A, D, F#); root and back - B minor: root (B, D, F#): hand slightly forward; 1st (D, F#, B); 2nd (F#, B, D); root and back - A major: root (A, C#, E): use C# as landmark for hand movement; 1st (C#, E, A), 2nd (E, A, C#); root and back - G major: root (G, B, D), 1st (B, D, G); 2nd (D, G, B); root and back Step 3: Line up arpeggio notes with chords (first with one note per chord and finally with two notes for every chord!) Bonus: end with A and D (left) and D major (right) I’m waiting for my piano delivery (haven’t played for like 8 years) so I’m preparing my practice exercises! Thanks for the great video!
One week in and I see a small progression. My understanding of doing this is that if I master this, I may as well master a lot of other things coming later. Truly grateful for the help provided by you and other youtubers.
Whats the most useful part of your practice routine?? Chapters: 0:00 - Intro 1:18 - Left hand arpeggios 2:43 - Triad inversions 4:46 - Both hands together 8:45 - Practice tips
Lisa, you are amazing, do not ever forget that. Thanks so much, you're mindset makes things that used to look terribly difficult as if they were a walk in the park!
As an adult, I took piano lessons close to 20 years ago. After several years away from the piano, I've been trying to get back to playing. I've picked up my old lesson books, but for the most part, I'm not enjoying playing. I am so happy to have found Pianote. I've only checked out a few of your lessons but I am already more interested and excited to be playing. Thank you
When i watch this channel >> * skills improved ✔️ * looks professional even still need learn and practice a lot ✔️ * show a simple ways to make a beautiful performance✔️ Thanks pianote!!!! This channel really helpful and blessed me
I like that you showed the final result in the beginning, awesome ! And great video by the way, I am currently practicing inversions and my routine started to become boring so I will definitely try this out !
Love your explanations! You take it slow, and provide levels of practice for beginners like me, and for more advanced students. That’s what great teachers do 👌
Third time's a charm. I see that I need to pratice this every day. I'm starting on Bach and his C Major Prélude and would like to thank you for all you've done to help me on this journey.
I have learned a lot from this channel. I don’t have time for piano lessons but I want to learn playing piano with chords at my own pace. Have seen a lot of youtube videos and IMHO Pianote is the best. Highly recommended.
I’m a super beginner, and not the youngest in the bunch. And so, “THIS” Every Single Day Practice was awesome to find!!! Love the way you teach. Thank you kindly.
I am going to work on this everyday. What a great excercise and I don't see how I wouldn't improve so I will just practice it and see what happens. Also I learned so much in this video. I really enjoy learning. So much I don't know regarding piano and music in general. Again thank you, I look forward to becoming a better student of the piano..
Nice comment, and great idea. I've been playing for 8 months and started on this exercise 7 months ago. Even if progress is slow keep doing this and once it gets easier you'll feel an improvement.
It is amazing dear Lisa . your practice is very important. You are the first one on RU-vid that give this information with this perfect way . I am following you for a short time but I see in your videos the different .thanx alot dear .
Wow... this looks like this covers a lot of things .Look like I have homework. I like it because seems challenging, interesting and fun and once done I should be on another level of being a beginner.
Thanks for this valuable tutorial. I suppose that after mastering this I-vi-V-iv progression in D, we students could move on to the same progression in C, and G, and A, and so on . . .
This is exactly what I need to practice and finally found a video to teach me this. I was playing basic chords like how you were playing in your worship songs. I think this will be a great building blocks step in learning to play more "fancy" ;)
There is a need to donate to advertise for the world this RU-vid channel crazy crazy crazy good I didn’t saw anywhere in by searching for piano lessons, a video like this, Massive, massive massive !! ❤❤❤❤
Just started playing ,do an hour a day, I'm up to old mac donald, wonder how long its gonna take to get to this level!? I'm figuring a couple of years.
Great lesson...wow it incorporates a lot so this will make us better. For inversions - the NOTE of the chord is always played with either the thumb (root of the chord) pinkie (1st inversion) or the middle finger (2nd inversion) This really will help, especially when you have to just use one inversion and not start with the root. Then the other fingers drop down.
I’ve been working on this for the last few days and I’m now playing slowly with hands together (part 3). Thank you for this lesson. I think I will definitely make it part of my forever practice routine in different chords and progressions! Wonderful teacher!
I have been practicing this exercise almost everyday since Oct 23, 2020,.Thank your so much for the wonderful posting" . My right hand play up to three-octaves , so much fun.
So many people love your vids Lisa! You are such a skilled and generous teacher, thank you. I am a lifetime member of your Pianote site and I love it xxxx
I have been trying to practice chord inversions on my own. My method was boring, so I didn't practice them very often. After watching your tutorial I am looking forward to practicing them. I even practiced them while breakfast was cooking this morning!
Ma'am if there were more teachers like u students would love attending classes and majority of them wud end up Toppers. U r tooooooo good . So much knowledge , humility , lively , passionate, lucid etc etc etc. What a great voice too so clear too , smartly dressed everytime and most of all u r soooooooo shweet. Epitome of what a great teacher / guru shud be.
Genuinely LOVE this style of teaching. I also love the fact that when there's obvious filming mistakes or musical mistakes it's left in and not made "perfect" Doesn't hurt when the person teaching comes across as such a nice person! She might be a total cow but he ho!! hahah! When I can afford it I will be signing up but in the meantime these freebies will just have to do!! Awesome!
i keep watching your videos and they inspire me alot, me and my wife are stuck in an early level and trying to improve, we are seriously thinking of joining your courses cause the way you teach is just amazing
This will take me approximately 10 weeks to master. Lisa makes it look so easy. It would definitely help if I had the sheet music so I could remember what needs to be done. Thanks for the lesson and tips!
This is a good job. I like the way you teach, your smile, your gesture, all these put possibilities in me. I play for personal worship and relaxation. Thanks so much. I will soon register for your course.
You are new favorite piano teacher. Thanks for the lesson! Any tips for someone with fat fingers? After practicing piano for the last couple years I've learned to gently twist my fingertips for those inversions and what not.
I am learning so much from you!! And also exactly what I need to learn to be confident and really enjoy playing! I have years of practicing classical piano, but this is what makes me alive!
Thank you for this video, I have always dreamed of learning to play the piano but life took over. 4 grown children later and on lockdown i decided to start today and guess what? One hour later I was playing The appagio and the first section with some understanding! I feel so chuffed@ your guidance! I will practice the fist 2 sections for a week before moving to putting it all together! Hopefully ill be able to do it in my sleep within a month! God bless you! Im 50 by the way!
You and your channel are the best! Not to mention your angelic voice! 💖💖 I am forever indebted to you for your generosity in sharing your talents 🙇🏻♀️❣️
(English is not my language) I am so thankful for having found this! I'll become 61 in one week and feel like a kid with a new/ the most precious toy ever !! I bought my piano one week ago!
This is such an excellent exercise where you can build from...to play it smooth and accurately not as simple as it seems at the beginning....I have added it to my everyday practice...you are a great teacher..Thanks!
This's the greatest piano channel on youtube by far, i have tried several local piano classes and always felt confused ans agitated when practicing and i quiet piano all together because of it but after 4 years of looking at my piano in the corner in shame, i found you guys and i can't say how happy i am right now. I've started practicing with your 7 days video and for the first time i feel confident playing piano, and I'm really proud of myself for every step i take. The way you break down everything is amazing and thank you for your great lessons.
I have been playing since I was 4, so I basically am above the level that you teach.... But I still watch your vids! You use great techniques that I know would make it easy for a beginner to learn! Keep up the amazing work!
