Using other equipment such as footballs, softballs, or small soccer balls can help you practice getting that flick with your wrist, getting the right angle and rotation on the ball, and increasing your revs.

I have seen too many release videos to mention over the last ten years. This explanation combined with the two prior videos you posted The THUMB part 1 and 2 is the best explanation if the release in existence.👍

Great video guys, but I gotta tell you that’s old school and that actually teaches you to spin the ball because it doesn’t teach you to collapse your wrist or hand from behind, but hey, in all fairness, I think it’s a great video for beginning bowlers, or even intermediate, because it teaches them to lift the ball and turn it out there, so great job!

Appreciate the feedback. I would agree non-football equipment CAN lead to spinning, but the football specifically doesn't. Spinning is usually a product of rolling the wrist all the way around, and if you do that with a football, it will wobble badly. To get the spiral, you have to collapse the wrist by starting to turn the thumb, then lifting back with the fingers. It is old school, but this video is mainly for beginners who need a little work on that motion. The kids we coach who spin the ball cannot throw an underhand spiral with a football. As we work thru that, getting the spiral actually leads to them fixing their spinning issue. I have used the football myself to practice for many years, and it has helped my release to establish the muscle memory as well. I do appreciate your thoughts on this, though. We love all feedback. Thank you for watching.

I can throw all those balls but cant get my bowling ball to do the same. I pitched fast pitch softball my whole life, slingshot and it has thrown me off now for bowling. I want to go straight like head pin is the catchers glove and thats not what i want. The hole throw in a angle has me lost. I have got it a few times but not consistent. Practice, practice, practice lol I think im going to hollow out my cracked old ball and add sole weight and practice in back yard instead of it bwing so heavy until i get it. I am a med to low track player my tilt is 20 degrees my rotation i need to get up its low low almlst up the back or i spin the ball which means im coming over thetop. Bowling and golf is the hardest sports i have ever played. 😅

I have absolutely nothing for a release….blame it on my age,but really I see guys close to my age(77) with great releases. Over the last five years I have dropped from the 180’s to the 150’s. I still want to bowl but this is embarrassing

I understand. It is hard when age causes our game to decline. The thumb fit lesson where you use the thumb to pull back and cup the wrist is intended to make the ball feel lighter and might help a little. I have arthritis in my wrist, and it really helps me. Give that a try and let me know if it helps at all. Stick with it.
