The little hole is for your sunglasses to hang it off from your bag on the outside I think to look really cute as it sits on your table or something. Depends on how deep the little hole is I guess.

2018 going forward the Gallerie doesn’t have the slit.... on its bags...I believe it was intended to hold the fob, rather than hang

I heard the little slit on the bag is a throwback to older bags that had a slot for your bus or theater tickets. I've been researching the galleria and double bag to purchase and a review I read on the galleria stated that a Prada SA told the reviewer that that is what it was intended for and it was a little known fact.
