@@madamvaudelune3298 In the Byzantine era it seems that at the Patriarchates has been repeated the story of the Archangels. There are and other stories which i know (these other stories with people, not with angels, in which there is the possibility a person to be protagonist) which have taken place in a season and these have taken place again in a later season, the history is repeated. Five were the Archangels, the following and in order of honorary positions: samael, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel. The one of them, who had the first place of honor, ie samael, wanted to get the glory of God and he fell. In that the Archangels are four, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, and in that the order of their honorary positions is Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel, is clearly seen from the vision of Saint Nephon (of the 4th century) about the Second Advent of Christ, who was and friend of Athanasios the Great. Five were the old Patriarchates (in the Byzantine era) with their Patriarchs (these five Patriarchates now called "senior" [Greek: πρεσβυγενή, presbygene, "senior-born"] or "ancient" [Greek: παλαίφατα, palaiphata, "of ancient fame"]), the following and in order of honorary positions: The patriarchate of Rome, the Patriarchate of Constantinople, the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Patriarchate of Antioch and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. In one of these, its patriarch, who had the first place of honor, ie the pope, wanted to get the glory of Christ, of the stone on which is founded the Church of Christ, and he fell. The Patriarchates of Constantinople, of Alexandria, of Antioch and of Jerusalem, all four Patriarchates, broke communion with the patriarchate of Rome. (From the 5 Patriarchates the 4 were wrong and the 1 was right? And from the 5 Archangels the 1 fell and no the 4.) In 1054 AD when the schism took place, the Patriarch of Constantinople had the same name as the Archangel Michael, then Patriarch of Constantinople was Michael Cerularius. Ιn the revelation of John in 12:7-9 we read for the war between Archangel Michael and satan and for the fall of Lucifer (the revelation of John is an enigmatic book and for this reason correlates the two facts of the fall of Lucifer and the kingdom of antichrist in one, even though the first fact took place much earlier). This story reminds and the story in 1054 AD of the Churches of Constantinople and Rome and the war which took place in 1054 AD between the Churches of Constantinople and Rome and the fall of Church of Rome. The story of the archangels and of the patriarchates reminds and the story of the disciples of Christ and it seems that the story of the archangels has been repeated and at the disciples of Christ. ~~~According to saint Nephon's vision about the Second Coming of Christ, in addition to the 4 archangels with their orders, in other group there were and another 7 orders of angels.~~~ 12 were all the orders of angels and the 1 fell. 12 were the disciples of Christ and the one, Judas, perished. Maybe Judas because of his name (reminds the tribe of Judah, the Judeans) and because he had the treasury of Christ he had the first place of honor among the disciples of Christ, but because he betrayed the Christ he is written last among the disciples of Christ in the Bible.
Thank you Holy Spirit for your anointing thank you Jesus for saving my soul! I’ll never forget the day I accepted Jesus in my heart and was born again hallelujah! God bless
Like a Mighty Rushing Wind he came to me in my room , what experience it was, indeed what man did not hear nor have seen, neither has entered human heart , God has prepared for those who love Him
I am a devoted Muslim but I want to share a very interesting memory of mine. I was listening to some gospels and chants, then I came upon Pascha Nostrum. From the very first seconds of it, I time travelled to a church in India and came back in a second. This was one of the most mysterious things in my life which I still couldn't find an explanation.
I'm not orthodox I am actually a African American Southern Baptist, but your lack of music instruments in your traditional doctrine has created some of the most beautiful music in the world.
Human voice is already tho most powerfull instrument. Angels on Heaven are always in uninterrupted singing and praising the Lord, without the instruments. Because of that, orthodox tradition follows Heavens and don't use instruments (except church bells, if we think of them as instruments).
It is because the greatest instrument of all was not one created by man, but the human voice. The instrument created by God. become orthodox, it is the best decision you will ever make. peace to you and all of your family
@@ethandetienne1904 the OC is more interested in maintaining its ethnocentric roots than in evangelizing, hence the reason it is non-existent in most countries - so simply not an option for the majority of us.
I am an American and what is strange this is my favorite hymn sung in Russian by a Russian choir praising the same Lord and is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.
I'm not embarrassed to confess I've hear this song through my headphones at the coffee shop almost every day since I first heard this several moths ago. It's glorious and and transports me out of this world long enough to settle my soul!
Hola hermano! Feliz Navidad!
Imagine walking into a huge spacious cathedral and hearing this, people used to come together in this kind of environment, it elevates everyone above the normal suffering of life, it makes the king as well as the peasant feel expansive and full of awe. It was a collective spiritual experience that raised people's mind into a good place.
I don't understand the discussion about religion, translations etc instead of just listening to this unbelievably beautiful choir. I personally could care less what the religion is of the people who sang so gorgeously. As a former chorus singer myself, I find this base section of this choir absolutely to "die" for. This entire piece moved me to tears. Bravo Russian singers.
Here, the spirituality of the composer is made apparent by his great music. A devout Orthodox Christian during his life, Rachmaninov is buried in a Russian Orthodox cemetery in Upstate New York. This beautiful performance is a tribute to a great man and his music.
I have memorized this whole CD the Vespers by Rachmaninov in Russian. I pledged that as a praise to God who has helped me in so many ways through His son Jesus Christ. My mother was a Russian Jew - lost many of her family to the Nazi Germans and I am so grateful to have this blood going through my veins. I put up with a lot of ridicule and hateful slurs but I stand proud.
We are all one people no matter where we come from, let all what you family endured make you strong and never mind the hate that is in some people, I never worry over what other's say because believe in my faith and God, take care
People are never the same my sweet lady, don't matter who we are or wherever we come from, there is badness in what ever background or religion, long as you have faith and belief nothing else matters, God has taken care of those who suffered by ignorance from those who aren't good people, good that you remember who you are and where you come from, take care
Actually, the Jews (biblical Israelites), originated from Ur, which I believe was a part of Asia Minor. The ancient Celts (Irish), also originated from Ur. Should we not love and respect one another?

Some years back some westerners asked an Indian poorna avatar "Swami, what can we in the west do to come back to our spiritual heritage again?" HE answered them "Listen to your old spiritual composers." So right, so right. This music lift me up to the divine Creator and help me to understand, who I really am. A sparkel of God. Bless you all.

Yes - modern Catholic hymns are the bottom of the barrel - Boots and Saddle garbage. This is incomparable - totally different from the glories of Renaissance and Baroque Western music sacred music of Bach, Palestrina, Gabriel, etc, but equally moving and beautiful.
It is, everyday, in Slavonic Orthodox Churches and monestaries. The Greek Orthodox, Syriac, Antiochian, Armenian, and Coptic, as well as the Orthodox Churches in America, sound a bit different, but just as beautiful, and every single day, at least once.
@@barbaratrehy4742 Don't get me started. The church that gave us music like Palestrina's now has dumbed it down in the name of 'accessibility'. This is exactly backwards - for many people, the one spot of beauty in the week was the language and music of the church service. It's not meant to be 'accessible' it's meant to be something to be a little outside of the day to day experience.
@@ianboard544 Yes! I am Eastern Orthodox. If a baseball fan were to go to a cricket match and say that he didn't understand that game and so it should become like baseball, the cricket fans and players would regard this as very selfish. What goes on in a church ought to be different from what goes on outside a church. The outside world should be influenced by the Church. The Church should not resemble the world.
Even after listening to this piece at least thirty times, I can't handle how gorgeous it is. I'm usually not even the biggest fan of many alto soloists.. but this recording is beautiful.
I was listening to this music as I was writing something on my computer but I couldn’t help but feel I should stop and listen. I felt as though I was being hugged by an angel, a Child of God cradled in His arms. Although I do not know the lyrics to this song, I know that heaven sounds something like this, and it was just a little taste that reminded me to be thankful for such a wonderful God. God bless you all! ✝️❤️
This is the best rendition of this piece I've ever heard. The soloist is superb, and, of course, the choral support is incredible. Thanks be to Almighty God.
i went looking for the lyrics translation, think this is it: BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL, blessed art thou, O Lord. O Lord my God, thou art very great. Thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Blessed art thou, O Lord. The waters stand upon the mountains. Marvellous are thy works, O Lord. In wisdom hast thou made all things. Glory to thee, O Lord, who hast created all.
What can be better than Truth & Beauty... together, in unity, Praising the One Triune God? Peace & Blessings to All, esp my Orthodox Brothers & Sisters.
There is NOTHING like a choir blessed with several deep basses (oktavists) able to sing the low tones in so many Russian choral music masterpieces. What a fine choir this is, bringing us to a devotion so far beyond mere notes! Even the atheists comment on how this touches them....
к. "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the Blood of the Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in his temple" Revelations 7:14. In memory of all the martyrs of communism, in Russia and beyond. May their exemple keeps on inspiring the future generations.
+Андрей Соколов Communism stands for the opposite to all Christian values, and to everything truly Orthodox. So anticommunism is perfectly natural here.
+peter scheunemann: Mankind will never be "mature" enough, and it will never happen. The problem is not "maturity"; the problem is sin. Communism is godless. Without God, there will be no true peace and unity of humanity. Man does not need Communism. He needs redemption.

As a metaphor for human condition: Your Soul reaches to the gates of hell, and these are always open. Those who realise this, irrespective of their believe status, look to their purest emotion, the sliver of innocence for hope, protection and salvation from darkness...
I wish I could speak this infinitely beautiful language. I live in Texas, so I have to use this pig grunt language called English. Zhivela Srbija zauvek i svako dobro zheli.
This is the most beautiful choral song I've ever heard. Perfectly written, and perfectly performed. I am not religious, but really I don't think that even matters. Beauty is beauty, and love is love. Much love from Vancouver, Canada.
My heart wept as a child when I saw the Movie.....and to this day I am saddened.....Although I never knew you my soul did......Bless you Beloved Tsar Nicholas Alexandria and your dear children in Jesus I pray Amen
A beautiful picture of a mother that knows her child is destined to leave her and fulfill great things, notice how her hand isn't embracing him but very loosely.. as to say she won't get too close, and the baby jesus is reaching for her embrace yet she knows that one day she will loose him... Just a black man's interpretation ....
+Bobby McCray Our Lady of Vladimir is the name of this much loved 12th century icon. It was painted in Constantinople and sent to Russia. Today it is located in the Tretiykov Gallery, Moscow.
+Mary Wilbur thank you for the info. as a glasspainter a copied this picture many times without knowing the Original name. I copied it on glass, stainedglass windows; during painting I very often was listening to this music by Rachmaninov
Bobby McCray they both know his Destiny so she is sad, but he as he is love by nature as a baby hugs her with love to relieve her Pain also showing that family os the most important, love nevera dies. He as a God won't die only fusycally, i think there is something more its like they feel our Pain, the wars and how unfair os the world. There are Angels also sad, becouse they kniw the suffering of this world. This is the Mother of Russia too. Particularly this Icon represent Mary as protector of Russia as Russia is a womán too so many people idntify Saint Mary as a protector of Russia and thin chant also
That is exactly true .I am not Russian but reading the stories how the faith survive just make me happy that I believe and trust Lord . Even Dostoevski who was not a truly Christian survive regarding the Lord plan .If you read his biography you going to think "No man it is not possible" Or if you read the story of man who had been mobilized since the beginning of the WWII .Who was in Stalingrad battle from beginning to the end /one of the impossible battle in human history / This man find a Bible or just a Gospel /half burned /in the ruins of the city .Waiting for the next German attacks he start to read it .And read and read .Same things ....to the last day of the war for him end in Vienna . When the WWII was over he went to Moscow ,knock at the door of some Church and asked "if anyone could explain to me what this book is saying" See how Great is the Lord when He decide to safe someone.
@Rudolf Feindler Not true! Yeah, they worked with the USSR that the Church was completely destroyed and non existent during the entire USSR era. Tell that to all the Priests, Nuns and Monks who were murdered!
