Two great musical gems from Karnataka. Some of the finest compositions of Dasa Santhathi of western India sung in Marathi, Kannada, Hindi (language is just a medium) but the expression of devotion rings out, loud and clear. I have had the fortune to listen to them live .
Great and sweet rendition of Raga Shuddha Kalyan. Even in supersonic speed of Taans, voice is absolutely surili. Pt.Jayateerth Mevundi is the torch bearer of next generation of Kirana Gharana. Respected Arun Gunari, hearth thanks for the raga on the site.
He is trying to emulate Bhimanna (in all departments!!) However he has to be more contemplative. Technical prowess is necessary and is the hallmark of a good artiste but a good artist becomes a GREAT artist only if his music drenches thirst for the soul's yearning. So technicalities are relegated to the background at some point in one's worship. Mr. Mevundi has miles and miles to cover before he comes close to be referred to while taking Bhimsen Joshi's name. That superhuman of a man could invoke the Gods. He was blessed - could touch divinity.
