Sunny Show I love Mr Pawson's teachings as well. I disagree with this one though and a few others though. There are NO gifts in the Bible that are just meant for the user. The gifts are for the user to use for edification of the entire body. Blessings to you.

Orchid Farm This is great in theory. BUT, per Paul's own words (see 1 Cor 12:11) the gifts are given out as the Holy Spirit wills them, not as we ask for them. Also, we all receive the Holy Spirit when we are born again and become a new creation. We don't become 2/3rds christian. Blessings brother.

Praise the Lord for bringing this series of sermons to me. Recently I'm troubled deeply by the issue of asking something in prayer buy not sure if God has heard me. And my faith was shrinking because of many unanswered prayers in the past. Thanks David for giving us a new perspective to view our prayer!

The entire sermon is based on the Bible. As you study Scripture more, you will recognize those texts to which he refers. In the meantime, ask the Spirit of God to guide you in your own personal study. If Min. Pawson speaks about something of which you are not familiar, search the Bible for the key words he uses so that you may pinpoint the exact chapter and verse.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been praying in the spirit alone and in groups and been told by others, are you showing off? I have tried to explain and I know how wonderful it helps in my prayer life. Been practicing for many years and it improves as we use it more and more. I believe that our Church greatly needs it. We need the power of the Holy Spirit in our daily walk so very, very much. You have given me the best explanation and I will recommend it to others to help them understand. Thank you Min. David Pawson.

It's not about remembering a sermon. Any message you read/hear should be considered with your own study tools on hand, i.e. Bible, Concordance, etc. As you hear the message, you may need to stop & study or rewind & replay. Look up keywords and find other texts the teacher didn't even share. Look up additional texts referenced in the footnotes as applicable to the main text. Never just take another's words without such rigorous review. That is how you study, and it is essential.

I agree with you DP. I groan in the Spirit for many hours though I do not understand anything. It is accompanied by deep sighs and tears. Charles Finny's success as a revivalist was due to the untiring groaning and prayer of Daniel Nash. The small booklet on Daniel Nash encouraged me much.

Nirmala Peters True. I at times groan during my prayer session, I cry, I sometimes even laugh. I do not know what they mean but I believe these are times when the Holy Spirit gives us utterances where only GOD can decipher the meaning.

We do not watch for ourselves by relying on any minister's provision of chapters and verses. If this is your indicator of truth, then you will be deceived. What you need to seek is the Spirit of God who can reveal to you what is of God and even guide you to the proper Bible verses when there are questions. Min. Pawson is an excellent Bible teacher and I would suggest to you his "Unlocking the Bible" series where he goes into detail of each book.

complicated, I follow some things and others are foreign to me because I don'y know the Bible well enough-I suppose anywhere is better than not searching at all. And so, I begin.Leza S.

Pawson needs to take into consideration the fact we are told to guard against false teachings and therefore supply chapter and verse so we can follow along biblically every step of the way to insure we are not misled at any time. To expect anyone to remember an entire sermon to check for inaccuracy at a later time is unrealistic and unreasonable. Most of us do not have photographic memories. You're not very understanding of those of us who are new and are just trying to watch out for ourselves.

The salvation message is for all. We are seperated from God because of sin. In our flesh is no good thing. We are all sinners (lying, stealing, taking the Lords name in vain, fornication, lust, hate etc). God is pure, Holy, righteous, perfect - he cannot look upon sin. You have sinned against a righteous judge.....a Holy God. The good news? God sent his only begotten son as a sinless, perfect sacrifice. Fully man yet fully God. Jesus Christ died for your sins and took your place on the cross so you could be reconnected and forgiven. The blood God shed washes you clean of all unrighteousness. He took the wrath that you deserve and gave you a way to eternal life. He paid the price for all your sins. You have free will to accept the free gift of salvation or to continue on the path to destruction. God died for you. You can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ....the living God. He made the biggest sacrifice for you......He's knocking, will you accept Jesus Christ? You can't earn salvation. No amount of going to a church or good works will get Gods favor. If you reject Jesus Christ, your sins are still counted against you and your punishment is hell for eternity. God gave you a way out through Jesus Christ. "Repent ye and believe the gospel" Mark 1:15 Between you and God, repent...... humbling yourself before the one who created you. With a heart wanting a changed life and all truth. Only God knows your heart and if you're genuine. Cry out to God with a broken and contrite spirit and put your faith in Jesus Christ. "Heavenly Father, have mercy on me. I'm a sinner deserving of hell. I can't save myself. I want to turn from my past, I want a changed life and I know only you can help me. I put all my faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. I believe he died for my sins and rose 3 days later. I pray for all truth no matter the cost. Please save me and lead me into all truth. In the name of Jesus Christ amen". Seek him with all your heart. Luke 5:31-32King James Version (KJV) 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Psalm 34:18King James Version (KJV) 18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Ephesians 2:8-9King James Version (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Questions... Where in scripture does praying in The Spirit ever equal praying in tongues? We are to walk in The Spirit, live in The Spirit and talk in The Spirit. Why didn't John and Jesus, who were both filled with The Spirit in the womb, ever pray in tongues or teach it? Jesus (The Messiah and Master Teacher) said when you pray, pray like this.. Use this structure.. In Matt 6. I think I will do as Jesus taught. Many want to model their behavior after the most rebuked church in the bible (The Church in Corinth). Paul even says in 1 Cor 14:14-15 that "if" he prayed in a tongue that his spirit prays but his mind is unfruitful. He says then in 15 what will I do then? I will pray with a fruitful mind and spirit. Where is it ever OK in scripture for the mind to ne unfruitful? It was used as a language (g1100), the Corinth's used it out of context and Paul rebukes then. Now I won't put God The Holy Spirit in a box and say He can or can't do this or that. But per scripture and the harmony of it, praying in a babbling language is never taught. First we need to see what tongues, G1100 in the Strong's concordance, was used for. To spread the gospel. I hope we all pray in The Spirit or else how else will we even know how to pray. I hope we all walk/talk and live in The Spirit. God bless

Hello Stephen, if we let Scripture speak for itself, you will have your answers. "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries...For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." I Cor. 14:2, 14-15 Verse 2 explicitly states that he who prays "in the spirit" is praying to God in an unknown tongue which no man understands. Verse 14 reiterates that praying in an unknown tongue is the "spirit" praying. Verse 15 contrasts praying and singing "in the spirit" (which has already been confirmed to be in tongues without understanding) with praying with the understanding. Why does Paul "thank God" that he prayed in unknown tongues more than others (I Cor. 14:18)? Why did he desire that they "all" pray in unknown tongues (I Cor. 14:5)? Because praying in unknown tongues edifies the one praying (I Cor. 14:4). In summary, the entire chapter states that when a man is praying in an unknown tongue, his spirit is speaking mysteries to God. He is praying "in the spirit". NO MAN understand him, but he himself is edified. It is a sign for unbelievers, but it also has a purpose of edification in believers. However, while an important gift which Paul used more than others, tongues is not the greatest gift for it is better if the entire congregation can be edified vs. just one person when in the presence of the saints. As with ALL spiritual gifts, they are for today and will not go away until that which is perfect (Jesus whom we will see "face-to-face", verse 12) has come (I Cor. 13:8-12).

I think because as long as Jesus was on Earth the Comforter... Holy Spirit... wasn't given... so, languages only came after Jews rose and went to be with the Father. I realise you posed this questionn2 years ago... hope by now you have prayed aforementioned and are using this wonderful gift?

How does that automatically mean he speaks in a non-human language? Can it not simply mean he speaks in a language unknown to those around him, and therefore only God will understand what he's saying? The other tongues we hear of are talking about earthly languages.

It's interesting how all these false preachers all have the same thing in common that they dismiss John3:1-21 where Christ talks about being born again and becoming a new creation where we naturally desire not to sin, and we naturally desire to pray.
