The text is a beautiful humble prayer written by King Henry VI expressing deep trust in God and his purposes. It has been adopted as the Founder’s Prayer at Eton College and King’s College, Cambridge, both founded by King Henry in 1440 and 1441 respectively.
This setting, dating from 2022, was recorded in June 2024 and first performed in the church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont by the choir 'Cambridge Voices' in August 2024.
The words:
Domine, Jesu Christe, qui me creasti, redemisti, et preordinasti ad hoc quod sum; tu scis quæ de me facere vis; fac de me secundum voluntatem tuam cum misericordia. Amen.
English translation:
O Lord Jesus Christ, who hast created and redeemed me, and hast brought me unto that which now I am; thou knowest what thou wouldst do with me; do with me according to thy will, for thy tender mercy's sake. Amen
