With everything going on in the world and your family or personal life, how would you characterize the impact of your prayer life?
Israel’s history to this point in Nehemiah’s life can be summarized by a time of covenant - when God brought Israel out of slavery and characterized success as obedience to Him; a time of sin - when Israel turned to her own pride rather than turning to God; and to a time of judgment - when Israel was in exile by the physical hand of Babylonian and Persian kings.
• Nehemiah bows before God and offers:
• Worshipful Prayer: Recognizing God who is powerful and who rules over everything.
• Humble Prayer: Taking responsibility for the consequences of sin, even though he didn’t participate in the sinning that caused those consequences.
• Bold Prayer: Saturating our prayer in the truths and promises of God’s Word.
• Persistent Prayer: God doesn’t say He’ll grant all of our prayers, He tells us to ask and to keep asking.
• Surrendered Prayer: Yielding to God in total surrender to lead in however ways He wants.
