I watched this movie about three times in past 10 years and it breaks my soul each time I do. I went through the same path as Bobby, except for...I made it alive. Today my mum loves me, respects me, and cherishes my happiness. If you are another Bobby watching this, there is hope. Truly never give up!

Thanks so much for uploading this heartbreaking movie. I wish me and Sam could have seen this much earlier. Sam was an exchange student. He arrived in Stockholm 2006, we lived in the same student neighborhood near Stockholm university. I saw him a couple of times on the bus, he's always so energetic and seems happy. I remember one day he gave me the most beautiful smile and said HI when he sat next to me on the bus. We started to date even though I know he will go back to the States after this 1 year program. It was harder for both of us than we expected after his exchange finished. He was asking me to move to the States but I chose to stay in Sweden. We've kept in contact via Skype almost everyday. He was always visiting me in Stockholm when he had holidays. Looking back now, we probably had a long distance relationship. I was invited to his family in Texas on Christmas 2009 as a FRIEND. He's from a Mormon family , I remembered his mother was asking me to sleep on the floor next to his bed. but of course, Sam came down and slept with me during the night. I can still remember that night vividly, his smell , his smile and his tears. He wanted me to be here with him and I rejected him again... We hugged and cried together that night, and that was the last time I met him. On 30th Sep 2010, He called me via Skype, He asked me if I can come this Christmas just like the year before. He suggested we can travel to NYC together. I happily accepted the offer. The very next day, 1 Oct. 2010. I received a Skype call from him but another man on the phone asked me If I noticed anything unusual. That was officer Stephen, I will never forget his voice, Calm and low key. He told me, Sam has probably killed himself and our phone call the night before was the last record. He's just doing some routine checks to see If I noticed anything.... The first feeling I had was, This must be a prank or some TV show with lots of cameras around Sam to see his poor friend in Sweden get pranked... But, No camera, No explanation, No condolence , Just a stranger checking the routine and my world broke at that moment. For the following 3 years, I suffered a severe panic attack. I had to pause working because I couldn't play on stage. I visited several doctors , they were doing great TBH, but they can't fix the missing part in my heart. I kept replaying our last conversation in my head, trying to find anything that I might have missed, might be a clue, might be a warning sign , so I could have saved Sam. I asked his family If I could attend his funeral. They never respond to my email. For those who are still suffering , I feel your pains, but also , please remember, there is always someone around you who really cares and loves you. Talk to them , ask for help. We can fight all together. If I had a chance to talk to him again. I'd like to say, Please give me a chance to help you...

I used to feel like Bobby. I wanted to end it all, but I didn't give up. Now I'm 23 years old, I have a great job, and I live with my boyfriend. Our families accept us, and we plan to get married in the future. I love this movie and I come back to it every few years. I first watched it when I was 15 years old. Greetings from Poland, remember, you're not alone. I love you all.

i didn't like this movie when I saw it about 10 years ago because not long before I had had a Gay friend in Chester, UK, with bipolar disorder commit suicide. For several nights after seeing this movie I went and sat on the steps of a an apartment building around the corner from where I lived. It was across the road from a park where we had walked when he first visited me in the area, not long after I had moved there. That was about 25 years ago.

Literally crying... only that person understands that pain, anxiety who is suffering... who doesn’t want to do sin, who don’t want God to hate him, but at the same time as a human being we are attracted to same sex and we still control our feelings ... this mix feelings, thoughts led you alone bcz no one understands you except God... people will judge you for who you are... no one wants abnormal life... being different from the rest of the society is painful... Bobby was indeed good son, brother and friend... there must be so many bobbies in the world right now who don’t want God to hate them like me... 💔

Bobby committing suicide had to with more than the religious mother factor . He was not hip to the gay scene . He was like a country bumpkin . He was home sick , his boy was playing around on him and them all the things he was told by his mother just pushed him over the edge . He was going kill himself once but was too afraid he would go to hell . That is very telling of how sensitive he was and naive . I kind of blame the boyfriend " David " for leading Bobby on to believe their relationship was monogamous . Bobby was coming from a straight , middle class , religious family . His idea of dating or being in a relationship was far different from the LGBTQ community . I don't think there was a commitment made , but it seems implied . Mary Griffith had to go through a lot therapy in order to confront her beliefs .
@gordanag3683
@gordanag3683 4 месяца назад
agree. more than the religious mother (also, he left family for Dave, for what? Dave didn't love him, nor he was devoted to him...) It's about You accepting Yourself the way Yoe Are. It's about loving and respecting yourself and that cannot be broken by anyone (even not by your mother, your lover, or anyone else). Bobby was Torn. And he should just embrace himself the way he is; who accept it - fine, who doesn;t accept it - too bad. Life is pricelesss. Every problem has a solution, only death doesn't have it.
@onumaytuu

@@gordanag3683 :;Sadly it's true . Death is not an answer to any problem that is not a terminal , progressive illness. There are days , some people don't or can't get out bed , but they want to live . My brother had stage 4 cancer and declined fast. He wanted full resuscitation . He wanted live so badly , but after 4th admission to ICU , the physicians asked " what now ? " Comfort care at home . You get one life , love yourself and as you said accept who you are and if you can change for the better , then go for it . Life is a gift . If Bobby only knew the people he left behind would grieve to the day they pass away , he may have thought twice . But he tried suicide once before and his brother saved him . Don't live your life through and for others . It's your life ,

@@gordanag3683 When we decide to get married, when we graduate, when we add one more year to our age, why do we invite everyone we know to witness our decision, to share our accomplishment, to celebrate one more year of life? Because as humans, we have a strong need to share who we are, what we do and what we become with those we love. That's the answer to your question.

The mistake his mom made was to blow his homosexuality out of proportion. And also, it seems that she didn't understand the power of God's Love and Grace in Jesus. Homosexuality is a sin, but it's nothing to be stuck on. If God had healed Bobby of it, he'd have gotten stuck on something else. Adultery is just as bad in the Bible, yet Jesus said that simply lusting after someone who is already married is, at heart, adultery. It's as sinful, yet most do not take lusting nearly as seriously as someone being gay. But, guess what? Whatever the sin, "‭‭‭‭‭‭Where sin abounds, there Grace abounds all the more." Romans‬ ‭5:20 We're all sinners. We're all stuck on something. That's why God doesn't expect or demand our change. He can't expect it. That's why God sent Jesus to fulfil all righteousness for us and to die for our sins. So if you believe in Jesus, your faith in Him is counted as righteousness itself, Christ's righteousness. So even if you sin, you're still righteous in God's eyes because of your faith in the righteous one. You should try to not sin, but it's not going to condemn you if you sin when you're a believer in Jesus. So people need to stop acting as if being gay is worse, while acting as if straight people lusting is a mere oopsie.
@user-nj9ce7ce6s
@user-nj9ce7ce6s 3 месяца назад
Being gay itself is not a sin! But if you are lustful is a sin no matter your sexual orientation. Sexual Orientation is being formed during pregnancy. You can't be a sinner for something you didn't decide to be! Can someone be a sinner becuase he had blue eyes??? (an eye-color outside the common, like brown eyes. Blue eyes are in a percentage of 8-10%, in the same context with homosexaulity (5-10% of the general population)). If it was a sin to be gay how throughout human history that percentage remained the same? A sin is a chioce someone makes, and the people who choose to sin can of course vary. But the fact that homosexuality is a fixed percentange throughout history it says something!

I saw this on TikTok, and it brought me here. I'm glad I watched it. I learned a lot here. I was sad because this happened in real life, and I know there are many parents who have been strict with their children. I hope it will be open to accepting them and loving them, whoever and whatever they are. I hope that every parent's mind, heart, and feelings can be opened to accept and love their children. I hope one day no child will be hurt just because of their chosen gender and identity. I know that Bobby is happy now because his family fought for him and loved him even though it was late. I know that God loves Bobby.🤍🌷
