Bada Valley, located in the Lore Lindu National Park in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, is home to a mysterious collection of hundreds of cylindrical stone jars and numerous humanoid-looking statues whose origin and purpose cannot be explained. The Bada Valley Megaliths were introduced to the international scientific community in the early 20th century by missionary and ethnographer Albert C. Kruyt, who documented them. He observed that local communities would bring offerings to the statues to ensure a good harvest or to seek rain during droughts, yet the locals themselves didn't know anything about the creators of the megaliths, stating they had always been there long before their ancestors settled the area. Modern estimates suggest there are over 400 megalithic artifacts scattered throughout the Bada, Besoa, and Napu valleys in Central Sulawesi, with the giant jars numbering around 400 and the humanoid statues being only around 30. The jars, known as "Kalamba," and the statues, referred to as "Arca," are found in clusters as well as isolated locations, indicating that they were part of a widespread and organized cultural practice. No clear evidence links these megaliths to any known historical civilizations in the region. It's unknown how old these structures are, but researchers believe they are at least 5,000 years old.`

The current tribes in that area displaced the previous one only in about 1000bc from Taiwan, the ones before them absorbed the earlier ones in 3000bc as part of the Philippine Jade culture trade route. If the dates of around 5000 years old are correct then the current tribes are two cultures removed from the builders. On another note they have the same stone jars in Laos, Maybe at one stage in the past they were part of the same culture?

😮there are giant jars in Quangnam Province Vietnam too, if you explore the heavy forested mountains and hillsides you will come across remnants of a great and far superior civilization, now overgrown and lost to time. If you ask the Chótu people in the area they will tell you giants made them. I've been to the plane of jars in Laos, the jars in Quangnam Province are 20' tall and shaped like a flower vase, a narrower base with broad shoulders and small openings on top topped with stone lids. We came across ruins in SE Laos the local people say are 150,000 years old. They say sky people built them. There are some interesting petroglyphs of flying saucers, landed saucers with giant aliens and giant robots walking around, and some creatures I wouldn't want to meet up with,,,my adventures in Vietnam were unforgettable and enriched my understanding of life emensely,,,

Just basic math here. But if the jars are let’s say at least 4 ft tall and nearly completely buried. If it takes almost 200 years for 1 cm of soil to cover the existing ground, wouldn’t it take roughly 24,000 years for those to be that buried? Unless it’s prone to mudslides

If the jars were originally more or less buried, or covered in a mound of soil, and on a hill in an exposed location with lots of rain, they would become uncovered and exposed, rather than buried. I would assume they were charnal houses or for cremated remains. European dolmens become uncovered as opposed to covered, due to rain and wind.

i lived for awhile in remote Issan Thailand, all of the houses had huge clay or some kind of rock jars that held water from the monsoon rains that they used during the 6 month dry season .they were at least one story high i remember

I remember hearing about the “Plain of Jars” on the radio and television during the Vietnam war in the 60’s and early 70’s when I was a kid. I wanted to know, “ Why is it called this?’ Is it really a plain covered with jars? I mean WTF? I asked my parents, who knew nothing. I bugged my history teachers at school. Finally one found one picture showing some of the jars. I immediately asked “ Who carved giant stone vessels and left them scattered around like that? What were they for? Of course, no one knew anything. Looks like things haven’t changed much in 50+ years. But I’m glad these are getting more attention. It would be interesting to look at the distribution of them, and the land contours. Perhaps they were moved from another location and scattered by a flood, floating, or even just tumbling, and coming to rest bottom down by gravity. Do some soil cores and see how the soil was laid down.

Good way for community seed storage the lid cannot be removed without a group the stone wouldn't get to hot or cold because of thermal mass. How do you save seeds for next year's plantings for next year where if stolen from everyone could starve and you must keep birds and mice out.

Why does it have to be something that can turn stone into liquid and then back into stone again? I am a resin caster we use a set of chemicals that don't become solid until they are mixed and reactive.. Has it never dawned on anyone that there may have been some sort of ancient geopolymer or very strong concrete? There are a lot of megaliths with little pockmarks on the surface that remind me of what it looks like when a bubble sticks to the side of a mold and cures into a little pocket. Think about it.. mixing your stone materials on the spot is a lot easier than cutting it and carrying it from somewhere else..

I personally believe that these jars were for food storage. The heavy lids would have deterred thieves from stealing the precious grain or perhaps fatty meat stored in them. I could imagine that these jars were actually used jars that had been replaced. This would explain why they are in the middle of nowhere some broken and lids missing. I could also see them being used for wine making. Cleaning these jars would have been difficult hints the need to replace them. As to how they were made I have no idea. As a potter I can tell you that I don’t know of any clay that contains granite and it certainly wouldn’t fire to from solid granite. If it is pottery it would have been fired as air drying would not have been sufficient and I can’t even imagine the massive kiln this would have been fired in. Mankind doesn’t have kilns that big today. This is certainly a mystery.

Wouldn't it be much easier to defend and hide smaller pots? It doesn't make sense how large they are with lids that weigh a ton. Seems risky and unpractical for an average man to use back then. Maybe it was for ceremonial purposes? Impractical as they are, I've noticed most megalithic structures have a common theme. They were was always for some religious or spiritual purpose.

It depends on which ‘history’ we believe, the historical records of our ancestors or modern science theories of the past. If the myths are true then superior ability people (gods) survived a cataclysm then repopulated the earth, if modern science is true then closer to ape-like people created all the stonework and megaliths. The evidence can be explained if the myths are true and cannot be explained if evolution is true.

An invention wouldn't be 100th Monkey effect as by nature it the first of its kind, not in public consciousness/awareness/knowledge. It more likely that the information is "downloaded" from the ether in the case of inventions, by one or two, or perhaps imparted by a higher intelligence at certain stages of evolution to one or two. ..The reason for Global Structures Technology etc, is because it was a Global Society, or had contact with a global society spreading their knowledge (Atlantian Race) simple as that..

That's not actually the correct interpretation of the Genesis account. It is all about Noah's son, Ham, trying to assume patriarchal dominance over his father and brothers by having incest with his own mother. The idea that they are all chiseled from blocks of stone is ridiculously counter intuitive. As storage containers the size of many of them would be profoundly impractical for use by normal size humans. One would imagine that many more lids are likely to be found if they were to perform excavation around the Malaysia site. The findings of which would no doubt be an inconvenience to established academia.

The reason why there is these structures all over the world on different lands separated by oceans etc is because these giants were so big so huge that it was very easy for them to walk from land mass to mass even through waters of great depths. Don't believe me? I can prove it

Nonsense, everybodyyyy knows tht ancient humans carved all these huge S stones with copper chisel and hard S round stones cause ancient humans have nothing but time. Also they would move these humongous stones around with ropes and with the muscle power of maybe 5k-10k humans to move each block, There mystery solved. U r so silly to even suggest giants.

Guys… Again… Ignoring actual scientific fact right in front of you just to propagate your BS… These pots are Geopolymer, which means they were originally liquid like a concrete and then they’ve been molded into the shape. if you’ll notice a lot of them are still buried underground with water in them. It’s not a coincidence. they were originally buried underground-when they were submerged water with seeping through the edges of the Geo polymer clay, and created drinking water inside that they could go in to. think of it as pots equals Wells. 😂

I'll accept the geopolymer hypothesis when our materials scientists can replicate it. There would be huge amounts of money to be made, so it's not like there isn't any incentive beyond the academic. Being able to shape what appears to be granite would have immense implications for the construction industry.
