Try placing ranunculus in mesh bags to keep them separated, then place them in a bucket with a fish tank filter to oxygenate your water. Thank you for all of your videos they have taught me so much! I hope this helps you.
Laura, I wish I could have your energy!!! You always look fantastic and accomplish so much in a day. You and Aaron are amazing parents and gardeners alike. I love how Aaron is getting more involved in all the videos. Totally Awesome 😎🌸🌸🌺🌺💕💕🌿🌿❤️❤️💚💚
Your and Aaron's personalities compliment each other and make such a good team! 💜 So enjoyable to watch the ideas bouncing off ya'll and the end results. 😊
Laura is a fantastic listener.... And so is Aaron... With the mail time you did... I could see that your heart is genuinely in it.. You both are human and that makes you both so relatable... Thank you for showing me you have normal lives and I really love your channel so much
About the raised beds, you should just put the super hoops and quilt on there and let it melt the snow! Then it would provide more moisture for the soil
Ranunculus and anemones....2 of my favorite flowers! So fun to design with 🧡 How exciting to have all your stakes and such organized. It always feels better when that task is done. I didn't know you could use potato sprouts like that. When you buy potato sets for planting, are they treated with a growing chemical somehow? Well, like you said...it's an experiment! Thanks for taking us along on your day!🧡
We had some potatoes during lock down last year that had started to sprout but used them in cooking after cutting the sprouts off. They sat on the counter waiting to compost.. they dried off and continued to grow. We ended up planting them on a lark. Got another three times the potatoes.
You can pre sprout your potato sets too before you plant, just leave them somewhere warm and light (not direct light) for a few weeks to get a head start on planting - I'm sprouting half of mine now to plant Mid March, just in my kitchen, the rest are stored in the cold so they wont sprout until i want a second planting in a few months . Potatoes just start growing when they think it's spring, the sets we buy are temperature controlled so they don't sprout until after we buy them, no chemicals involved.
If the shade tunnels want to fall out of their ‘shelf’ just put a screw on each vertical wall support at the high end of the tunnel and stretch a bungee cord across the tunnels
Hi Laura great video. l agree with you a great day to clean your barn. You have a lot of nice things in your barn. Love the arch both of them really lovely. Looks so much better in there now.
Because of this video, I tried my hand at soaking and pre-sprouting ranunculus and anenomes today. Thank you, Laura, for your inspiration. It has added so much interest and creativity to my life.
Because of you I have already started my seeds inside and I’m already have them coming up. I planted potatoes with just little roots coming out and I’m so excited. I already have a potato sprouting up. This is the first year I’ve used PW soil. I’m thinking it my be because of the soil. So exciting. Thank you so very much for sharing.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
So cool to find those potatoes. Goodness we really need to empty our storage and organize. I love what you guys have done. Poor Aaron, you shot down his first idea and he looked like a little kid. Hahaha. I enjoy the interaction you two have. So fun and the fact that you both share the same goals is wonderful. I can’t wait to see these corms grow and bud, then flower. I have never grown either but the flowers look beautiful. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Storage is the challenge for every single hobby. With all the wood I would have hooks everywhere. We use the space between studs to corral the loose things. They stay in place with eye hooks and bungee cords. 👍
I'm so glad you're doing a series of videos on Ranunculus and Anemones. I always see them for sale in stores but never buy them because they intimidate me. I hope your videos will help push me into finally trying them out next year.
I didn't know what the plants were until I clicked on the links you provided. Those ARE beautiful flowers! Thank you for teaching me about some flowers I have now fell in love with.
I am learning and taking notes Laura....So many different plant support options out there. this way I can keep my garden looking a bit tidier. Great teamwork guys...have a lovely day!
Yes, I was thinking the same until I realized that shelf isn't really that tall. I was also thinking flipping them so the skinnier pointed end goes into the can. Were you talking to them as they were doing it too? lol!
@@mariafolch8067 I also keep my loose bamboo sticks and such in a large old milk can....they are heavy on the bottom, so they don't tip and keep the sticks straight up pretty much so the can won't tip, unlike a garbage can.
Such great information! Thank you. I grew ranunculus and it took them MONTHS to come up, and then they weren’t healthy at all. I gave up on them that year. Now I’m gonna try again!💗
Laura, I used the garden Velcro from Gardners Supply to store my half circle supports just wrap around the legs and store as one neat unit. I like it better than zip ties! It holds them together and it’s easy to remove however many I need at any time, then re-secure the remaining stakes!
Thank you for sharing Russell with us, he clearly loves and adores you tremendously by the way he looks at you!! I love him so much just by watching him watch you...
Roses and ranunculus, I think they may be my favorite flowers though I do love so many others!! Talking organization-clutter drives me bananas, I also have a happy heart when things are organized!! 😃
Peachy, I hope they will come up and bloom nicely, here in Minnesota the snow cover is insulation for our perennials. Even in the polar vortex a few years ago I lost some shrubs but all my perennials survived. Haven't grown those particular flowers but have heuchera, hosta, peonies etc that survive nicely even in low snow conditions. Good luck with your plantings.🤞
busy busy... don'tcha love it when things get organized??? if only they would stay that way.. my pot rack was so nice and neat and i've been out there messing 'round in it and now it's starting to bug me that it's all messy again 🙂 the bulbs will be gorgeous, so many pretty colors... sweet Russell... some great organizing ideas and bulb info in this video... good luck with your taters! how fun! 🙂 ❤ thanks for the video!! 🙂 ❤
I just realized why I haven’t had very much success with ranunculus and anemones, I never soaked them. To organize my stakes and bamboo I stack a few cinder blocks and stick them in the holes.
I would love to see a garden tour of how things have changed. It would be nice to see your pair it with video of how it used to look, and then maybe you can start to explain your plans more of what you would like to do if you already have a plan for a space. I love seeing the progress and process, and it is always interesting to see a winter garden versus what it has looked like in the summer. I would like to transition my garden into a space that suits me more than just what the previous owners of my house wanted, and love seeing how others transition their spaces to fit their needs gradually and working with the existing garden when needed.
I always find it amazing how soaking bulbs or a little bit of prep work ahead of time will do great wonders for success in survival of plants later on in the season.
If your barn could talk, the stories it could tell! That part of the barn looks so much better in its organized state! I need to do the same thing in my garage! Anxious to watch those plants grow & put on their show! Hope those potatoes put on their show - will they produce new potatoes? 😃🚜🌷🌼🌻🌺🥔🧹
Get some 6-8” diameter pvc pipe and cut them down to 3-4’. Bolt them together at top and bottom. Then bolt them to wall every so often. You could have a whole row of pvc and each one can hold different stakes. We used this method in our parts store for long snowmobile slides. Love to watch you guys work together 😊🌱
Lara you have such a good heart and an old soul! Makes me proud and hopeful that future generations will continue gardening. I worry about that. Maybe with your two kiddos you could start a community kids garden on the new land to ensure the love of gardening for our future generations.
Mounting additional plant stakes to the wall my husband cuts a 4" PVC pipe about 6" long and secures the piece to the wall or post using screws place the stakes inside the PVC sleeve. Keeps them secure and tangle free.
You can put a small hook on each beam @10:42 (side by side) on the "Built in shelve" and then attach either a strong cord, bungee cord, wire, dowel across each beam. That way you can stack more things upright without fear of them toppling forward. You can easily get things out by disconnecting one side of the supporting cord, wire, dowel, etc. Using a strong cord, bungee cord or wire allows you to place more things than if you use something that does not bent. I hope you can visualize it. Good job organizing!! Now, I need to do my shed.😏 Question.... can you just use the potatoes for vines? The foliage should be pretty or are the potato vines we buy for the pots different? Also, I just pruned the Crape Myrtle and kept a bunch of the tall branches to stake out the beans, tomatoes and other plants. Aaron needs a cordless vacuum from DeWalt. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8cvesrmZBrQ.html
I put all my stakes in a large christmas tree bag. I then put the bag on the loft of my garage. I don’t have much space to store garden stuff since I use our garage for our two cars. Lesson learned. I once just propped them against the garage wall and they fell over and scratched my husband’s car.
Oh gosh! You're both getting me amped for cleanup, and organizing and preparing for spring! I love the energy of this channel, it always gives me a boost! Thank you!
Get video. I purchased ranunculus in the past and didn’t have much luck only 2 out of 100👎. They are such a beautiful flower, I’m willing to try again. Thanks for the inspiration.
So excited for this video & information, especially about ranunculous. I bought my first bag of ranunculous last fall. I've not ever pre-soaked/pre-sprouted so seeing you do this will make me feel more confident in the process. Thank you & hope you have a great day!
