Thank you. I appreciate the audio isn't quite as good on this Vs the new stuff as I didn't have an external mic then; thank you for watching it 👍

Stardrops is another good APC. £1.80p from Ashton market. It smells the same as expensive named products. Great video. You're brilliant at this.

That's very generous of you to say David, thank you. Koch Chemie GreenStar is also a fantastic APC too, like the Surfex HD it's incredibly concentrated so when you dilute it down it's very economical. 5L of Surfex is around £17, mixed down to 20:1 which is good for a lot of applications means you can make 100L of the stuff, so £1.70/Litre. Where as the Sainsbury's stuff is about 3 capfuls in 10L but nowhere near as potent.

I would value your opinion on my current dilemma, my location in Devon has a hosepipe ban that is likely to last for a long time (areas in Cornwall have been restricted since last August). Detailing is a passion for me so now i need to come up with a process that reduces as much risk as possible for cars and motorbikes. It appears that garages will still have accessible jet washes so if this is the case my nearest option is 5 miles away. I could get to a garage do a dry pre-wash and then use the jet wash, then at home continue a process depending on the circumstances. I live in a rural area that makes this hobby very challenging for the majority of the year, so new options need considering. In the winter i have often used completely contactless cleaning regimes at times when the local lanes have been ridiculously dirty and maybe this approach will have to suffice if conditions dictate. I have considered rinseless, but have major reservations even if my vehicles were cleanish i would probably not enjoy & spend more time trying to clean the huge quantity of cleaning media that i would have to go through. A water Butt might be possible longer term if i can get one in the right location (doubtful) and overcome concerns that any contamination in the Butt could be filtered before being blasted onto a vehicle. Sorry if this is a bit long winded, i'm in a quandary as to the way ahead. I have watched many of your excellent videos and use many common chemicals that you have rated positively. Best wishes.

Thanks for reaching out Tim, I've recently got back from a week in Fowey and had to seek out somewhere to deal with the fact that I got "gulled" by what I can only assume was an albatross. I would definitely look into Rinseless, but potentially not in the way you're thinking; if you can get to the jet wash you'll be sorted. Have a look at my process here with Feynlab Pure Rinseless and then let me know what you think about how you could do that at the local jet wash. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GN2gouKUhAQ.html You can get buckets with lids that don't spill ya see. www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/carbon-collective-gamma-seal-bucket-lids-black?ghref=3377%3A373130

@@SuperchargedLlama Thanks for the information, clearly this is so different for us brits that it all looks rather nerve wraking. However i keep thinking to myself well if your happy to blast a dirty / gritty panel with a jet wash then why not try this method particularly in the summer when i could practice on the wife car first😁. The main thing is that your comments are challenging me to think of work arounds. Having also reached out to GM Details i really like his idea of just using my jet wash at home connected up to a wash bucket (that overcomes the hosepipe ban, i have yet to see how long a 20L bucket will last with a Karcher K5). Ultimately you guys are helping me to develop a plan that i can tinker with to carry on with my passion for detailing, who knows maybe i may do a decent job whilst using less of this resource thats so easy to take for granted. Oh and Fowey is such a lovely place, had many a bike rides in that area. Best wishes.

@@Tim955w that's absolutely right, a bucket will certainly work too. I use a 250 litre tank on the van and I find that I can get 1-2 cars out of that, so the 20L bucket will really disappear quickly, especially as the K5 is more powerful than my C135i. Other options, with the buckets and gamma seals, is to take them full of your normal wash shampoo and do a regular two bucket wash, just apply your pre-wash via a pump sprayer (Auto-foam via a pump sprayer is still just as effective and uses far less product too) and then wash as normal. Or you could take one bucket with the shampoo in and then just multi-mitt wash. I used an EcoWash station when I was down there and the one thing that surprised me was that it wasn't using filtered water....but luckily you'd be driving along on the way back from it, so it'd dry your car for you.

@@SuperchargedLlama Thanks, yes i love Auto-faom through my IK sprayer particularly in the colder months when it can dwell for longer. Those buckets you suggested look very interesting so i shall get some of these as well. This problem really cuts to the chase for using solid products so initially it will be Surfex and Auto-foam via sprayer, probably GT wash or BH Auto-wash, maybe followed via a spray on rinse of product (Polar-seal via hand sprayer at 20ml to 1L works ok as a quick and easy process). and if all this is easier than i anticipate then i'll be back to some of the more enjoyable to use products.

Another great demo of real world considerations. I've found the hand foam trigger heads to be pretty useless and have abandoned using them as have found the variable mist type head works much better for these types of products. As for prewash and what, if any product, Surfex has consistently outperformed citrus and shampoo. Is prewash needed prior to foam? I've found it depends on type of road film. I live in countryside so find a bit of Surfex helps on rear, lower panels and leading edges prior to AutoFoam. As for pressure washer, no contest but not always practical if e.g. a quick contactless tidy up between drives and you are reliant on the chemicals working with a low pressure rinse from hose. Good, practical review.

Thank you! I too find that a bit of Surfex under the AutoFoam really does help with some types of grime, although AutoFoam is seriously effective. And then Touchless is great, but is a bit more particular about the context in which is works well...where as Surfex seems to be quite good in all situations, but it isn't as free rinsing (or doesn't seem to be anyway). I did a vlog using ONR for the first time and I was really surprised at how good a pre-wash that was actually, but again...needs a pressure washer for that to be the case (although it's a good option if the pressure washer you have access to is a jet wash at the petrol station).

It's gets expensive lol but I rinse the car down, Spray it with Carpro Multi X diluted 20 to 1, Snow foam over and rinse. When I finally get to the contact wash I'm able to get it spotless with minimal touching which is always the goal.. The less you can touch the paint in anyway, the better.

Agreed, that's why I use Bilt Hamber AutoFoam and Touchless (not at the same time, and after recent testing, AutoFoam is the better of the two in my opinion). With that I find I don't need any other pre wash, and I can skip the pre foam rinse too as that actually makes no difference to the performance, or making it slightly worse in some cases. I've got a video on the pre-rinse or straight to foam, as has Forensic Detailing - check them out because anything (ANYTHING!) that saves time and products is a winner for me.

try apc though a garden sprayer and no foam jet wash off works really well

It definitely works, I just tend to find any pre wash product, APC or snowfoam, works better when it's foamed (because it dwells longer mainly, but also because the bubbles encapsulate the dirt a bit better).

@@SuperchargedLlama Bilt hamber say no benefits to bubbles Gues we have to consider weather conditions, great chanel by the way

@@jezlucas3878 thank you! You're absolutely right, they do say that. Especially in conjunction with the Auto Wash product I believe, I wasn't sure it was for Surfex too? I definitely get an increased dwell in warmer weather when it's foamed, but I also don't like the residue it leaves. I generally use AutoFoam as my pre-wash, I did a couple of side by side tests with AutoFoam, Touch-Less and GT Snow and ended up liking AutoFoam the most.... although the new formulation of Touch-Less may change that.

@@SuperchargedLlama My comments are only ment to be constructive chat , but iam stuck on pre Rinse or not No one can seem to agree on it I always used to then some say go on dry Yesterday I jet washed my well protected van , but still didn't touch grime on sill Surfex at 10% 5 mins it was gone , the pre Rinse didn't touch it If I had a blower think it would have been plenty
@SuperchargedLlama

@@jezlucas3878 I think most things will be gone with Surfex at 10%, it's very potent isn't it? At 10% that'd do a fair job taking off a wax too. What pre-wash were you using? If it was a Bilt Hamber one, have you done the PIR calculations? I'm always amazed at just how much product is required in the lance to get 4% PIR.
