Yes sir Holy Ghost plus skill & music theory. I've been playing over 20yrs & I just this year finally understand modal playing, borrowed chords, scales, substitutions, chord extensions etc. If you understand that it will unlock limitless options.
Hello. Nice video. Do you happen to have videos playing behind preachers who don’t hoop but are more like teachers, but at certain points in their message have times a bumps or accents can be played. Not waiting to the end but going in and back out through the message? Thanks in Advance.
@@troymarkee955 you’re right i mean every preacher chord is some form of a seventh chord and just add full diminished chords on the flat-5 and play augmented chords on the 5
It’s for callouts. When you’re using a talkback mic and your playing shout chords, it’s easier to tell the band “ 3, 4, UP, 5” than “ 3, 4, diminished, 5” quicker callouts make a world of difference when making quick decisions.
@@dudleysquibbles6366 sorry sir I went to music school most of my life not ever gonna use the term " up" I would embarrass myself in a professional setting around professional musicians when more church musicians go to school get trained and study proper music theory the language will be proper that Nashville system that the church adapted has created illiteracy in the church musicians language I've witnessed guest musicians on these videos playing stuff they couldn't define .. that's not good being able to talk but can't read or write that's called being illiterate get trained go to school stop always worrying about that $200-$300 a Sun and become a complete fully trained musician the people who put their money in the offering to pay you deserve a fully trained musician so the slang "up" has no value or meaning up can be anything I know a well known musician who's played on many records and for many artists who did not know what a diminished chord was I used to teach him theory but he just couldn't pick it up and that's cool he's still playing with national artists but can't read music... tragic
@@troymarkee955 I’m a full-time engineer. I play at church because I enjoy it and I love music. I’m not looking to be classically trained unless I was doing it full time. If you consider me illiterate because I do it for the passion more than the skill then so be it. To each their own though.
Did he say "FIGHT ME" for someone who has a problem with him taking off his shoe? Then look in the camera at the imaginary person he's trash talking too? Smh.....why? Grow up dude.
That's the mindset of the church musicians today arrogant and wanna be church thuggish but what they do not realize that there are young guys in these streets really being thuggish Merkin everything... humble yourself
