I just subscribed to your site on a Tom Davis recommendation because I expressed an interest in competitive obedience after watching one of his clients do that in one of his videos. His client (who was told she couldn’t do it) inspired me to do this too so I rescued an 18mo F GSD from working lines last week. She’s got a nice disposition, is a fast learner and she’s got amazing energy, I can’t believe this dog was up for adoption for months before I found her. Anyway, I’m not a total beginner, I was training horses to “touch” with a clicker 25+ years ago and have done that with a bunch of Collies using only positive reinforcement techniques I learned from trainers I had in NH. Now in Florida, I joined Tom’s No Bad Dogs Army and learned about his in-depth balanced training and have been amazed with his dog Lakota. This is the first video I watch of your training and I’m so excited by the possibilities of where this can go. I assume what you are saying about increments is that even just a hint of movement in the right direction is rewarded? Is there an order to the skills taught? An order to the videos you have? I don’t have a puppy so I’m thinking I still teach her the same way as a puppy? So many questions..lol..thanks for putting out these videos.
Hey Forrest great to see you on utube again hope all is well I teach all your behaviors my business had taken off here in Massachusetts Natanz is 11 now he still pretty active in obedience two years ago I got his BH in schizhund thank you for all your help my wife Linda says hello merry Christmas hope to talk to you soon!!😊🐶
I like your training very much. Already bought 2 of your streaming DVDs on Leerburg. Where can I find the tutorial that you mention in this clip? Thank you! 😀
Looks good! Suppose this dvd could help me. My dog doesn't seem interested enough in food, so she doesn't follow my hand with enough focus. Feeding or dropping a ball from armpit seems to work better, but still far from perfect.
