When I farmed with my grandpa, he hired his neighbor that lived on the backside of his 80 that we farmed. Jim was a retired lineman, and actually about the same caliber of your Jim. There’s wasn’t much that our Jim didn’t know. When I helped my grandpa I was in college and since we worked 6 days a week Saturdays would he sometimes rough none the less from Friday night partying. Jim always made sure to bring either me, another guy that helped us that was the same age, or BOTH of us along on one of the hottest jobs you could think of in late July Missouri. Our Jim would never say a word about our “impairments” on Saturday mornings, but would often chuckle at the first one of us that had to go around the field to vomit… man I miss those days AND Jim!

The tip on your smoke wrench is leaking. It’s not seated correctly in the head and the popping is a fire burning in the head of the torch. Might just need to be snuggled down a bit tighter but would certainly get it straightened out so it can’t burn back up the lines to the regulators. Not real likely it will but still could. This year here every two days it rains. Crops look so good! Zack l have a friend drilling a hole just like you two miss lined shaft and gear the drill bit broke and toke his right eye. Oh did I say he had safety glass on the drill bit hit him in the cheek in out right in the eye under the glasses one second for the rest of you life. Hey Zach, have you heard of a remote control robot called the Grain Weevil? It is sort of an RC car with helical screws for propulsion. You can drive it around on top of the bin contents, and it can do many if not all of the things that might otherwise require the farmer to climb in to the bin. Could possibly save a few lives just by keeping the farmer out of the bin all together.

There is a big high pressure dome covering Texas, New Mexico and other states. The water in the Gulf of Mexico is 98 deg F. If we get a tropical storm it is going to turn into a massive hurricane in no time.
