Thanks for really getting in there with the camera people point all the time but never give perspective from a head view

One little tip on the oil change, get some disposable diapers and lay in the drain "cookie sheet" and you won't have to worry about spilling oil when the pan is removed.

I really appreciate how simple you made everything. Not overly technical. I have the same generator and was having issues with the charcoal canister. Thank you for the video.

That was a great video. I bought the same generator last September and I love it. I keep it in the back of my truck always and run an extension cord up with a little electric heater in my cab and that's how I sleep in the truck. I use the same oil in the generator as I do in my truck 5 W 40 Rotella full synthetic. I also run an extension cord to my block heater and just shut my engine off at night. I've slept in the truck at 25 below zero wind chill factor and wake up the next morning and start the truck right up because the block heater keeps it warm.

Just bought new 3500, haven't used it yet, but appreciate your insight. Will do charcoal delete, Co delete, and spark arrestor wire mesh delete. Subscribed. Your 5000 hrs. usage prove it's a good generator.

With these mods ive ran mine with the water heater, ac and several small things all at once and the overload light blinks but it dont throw the breaker... Got around 400 hours on it and just will not die. Super impressive 😅

Got this unit last September. Did all the mods right away. Changed the oil after the first hour and ran it for 20 minutes every 3 months. Everything worked great. Last night we had a power outage and I finally got to use it for the reason I bought it. Well, the battery was dead so I had to use the pull cord and started right up. Ran a 25ft. extension cord to the house and had my refrigerator and a lamp running. After about 1 1/2 hours it stopped making power intermittently. Finally the voltage meter went dark and I shut it down. 3 hours on the hour meter, first time I needed it and it quit! WTF!

Wish I had room for a Generator that big. With a short bed space is limited. I have thought about removing bed cover and mounting on top of fuel tank. Just don't think fuel tank was made to hold 100lbs all the time bouncing down the road. Great video again Sir.

Yea I have one of those already. It's a champion and been having hard time making it extended run time since it doesn't have a fuel pump.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Only question outstanding for me- why not drill a few holes in there. I don’t see anything but upside? You won’t change the flow pattern that much and she’ll breath a little better. Thoughts?

I just didn't see a need. The opening on that filter is pretty big.

Great video! What did you decide to do about the C02 sensor? I’ve read that it can be as problematic as the charcoal canister.
@TravelinTim
@TravelinTim 6 месяцев назад
I just bypassed it last month. It's not really a problem for most people but it was a little bit of problem in the bed of my pick up truck and now that I have a bed cover it was more of a problem

Thank you for the video. Does any gas come out of the vent hose while traveling on the road with the generator riding in the back of your truck with a full tank of gas in it?

Did you buy a new vent where the charcoal box was or do you just have the hose fixed up there with nothing attached to it?
@TravelinTim

It's just fixed up there but I put a cheap fuel filter on it to keep anything out

Great video content. Just swapped mine out for knew. ? Sir! ,that last part where you showed where the air flows, how often should you change out the filter above . The spongy one ? & where can I purchase it. Look forward to your response. MG
@jimhancock4082
@jimhancock4082 3 месяца назад
Depending upon the dusty/dirty environment, about every 50 hours, wash out with gasoline, and lightly re-oil the sponge.
@liamlad1
@liamlad1 5 месяцев назад
Those vents you point to are inside the filter box. Air can only enter through that one small opening.
@TravelinTim
@TravelinTim 5 месяцев назад
Yes the vents are inside the air filter housing, letting air come into the air filter housing. That's what vents are for.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. But Why did you choose that spark plug? The cross reference for the torch calls for a BPR7ES.
@TravelinTim
@TravelinTim Месяц назад
It was recommended to me by a friend of mine that I consider one of the smartest small engine guys on the planet. He recommended it based on the way I run my generator. 11 hours a day, every day for three weeks straight and then take a week off.
@amandabechir
@amandabechir Месяц назад
I came through another video the guy claimed that spark plug runs 200 F hotter than the equivalent to the Torch F7RTC which is the NGK BPR7ES. He says the generator runs outside in the hot sun with no radiator or a fan to cool it off, that you will run into problems. What do you think about that?
@TravelinTim
@TravelinTim Месяц назад
@@amandabechir I think I run my generator 11 hours a day for 3 weeks straight, take a week off and do it again. It sits in the bed of my truck. The spark plug might run hotter but that doesn't mean the engine runs hotter.

did the mods and ran great for several months. today, after running it several times for 10 mins or so at a time, she started smoking after i tried to start and the vent hose must have strated a fire and was melting the plastic! i cracked the fuel cap and she runs fine, whatcha think?
@TravelinTim
@TravelinTim 5 месяцев назад
No idea. Mine has been running fine forever. I run it about 11 hours a night, every night for 3 weeks at a time.
