I’m considering getting one of these or a Westinghouse DFc of comparable size. Yours and JD’s World oil change experience and advice were invaluable! Despite all the criticisms, I see it as lessons learned and future process improvements for when I decide which generator to buy. Excellent Job, Thank You!
You created all of your problems. You had it up on that sidewalk and all you had to do. Was too tilted a little bit the right there over the edge instead of putting that cardboard there you could’ve just left. Everything the way it was and had your catch pan on it right underneath of it. You didn’t need to do what you did. It would’ve been very easy. Just hang two wheels over the edge of the sidewalk and then directly drain right into your pan. Everything a bit tilted the right way. And it would’ve went straight down into the pan.
Thanks for watching and I agree I caused a disaster. I’m going to slide a small cookie sheet under it next time as suggested by another viewer and hopefully that will make it much cleaner and easier
@@Outdoor_Prepper I liked the idea of having it elevated on the sidewalk as you did. However, as Tim suggested, leaving two wheels off the side would allow gravity to direct it into your catch pan rather than collecting underneath at the lowest point of the machine.
We have one at work. We have treated it like shit barely any oil changed and at one point it was running backwards lol exhausting through the intake. And it still runs like a champ 6 years strong XD
Thanks for watching! That’s great to hear and my experience so far has been very positive. With proper maintenance I really hope to have it last a very long time
Wow... How many time can we use the word Disaster? And I thought the Hindenburg was a disaster..... but this.....THIS was a DISASTER! Hope the EPA doesn't see this LOL. Thank you for the effort to make the video..... just maybe think things through a bit more and relax..... don't sweat the small stuff.... and BTW, this was all small stuff. I have to admit, it was entertaining..... but probably not for the reasons you were going for.
Thanks for watching and absolutely - it will be changed every 25 hours. In my opinion that will help provide maximum longevity. I know it can be stretched out longer but oil is cheap and small engines don’t have filters so I’d rather change it every 25 hours and have the engine last a long long time.
I just bought one and have done 2 oil changes, first at 2 hrs and second one at 5 hrs. First change was a disaster oil everywhere. Second change was totally different. I got a cookie and slid it under the gen and put a good tilt on it to drain the oil out and barely spilt a drop. Next oil change in 10 hrs and should be good to go.
If you’d read the manual it tells you the gen. takes 20 ounces of oil. And what did you do with the funnel that came with the generator ??? A wise man would have cut part of the side out of an empty oil bottle with the cap on to catch the used oil. And wow no mess.
Duh.. You dont realize you solved your problem when you were tilting it.. Just put a 1" x 1" peice of wood under the wheels on the other side and you can drain every drop of oil without spilling a drop. You used a piece of cardboard as a drain pan, on your porch step.. Really? Thats why you have a mess.. And you used a cut water jug to catch the oil..? Yes you created a gigantic mess...
