Title says it all really. I'm taking a look at Predator: Concrete Jungle and breaking down why it's so bad #predator #predatorconcretejungle #predatorhuntinggrounds
I agree, the game had flaws but like considering the time period it was made this game really wasn’t that bad at all, I wish I could play it to this day. Those scenes where scare face would show his personality with certain criminals was honestly fucking awesome
Comparing it to chaos theory isn't really fair. That was a big budget game on its third outing, next to a low budget movie spin off. It was great for what it was
We need a proper remake/reboot. There is a lot that could be more fleshed out like an in depth combo system and better vision mode implementation maybe more cities to explore. I absolutely love this game as is though the armory and trophy collection always interested me and It's a shame we haven't had a successor with how far the capabilities have come.
In concept, 100%. It just missed the execution for me. Great idea though and a more talented development team could do something amazing with it for sure
@@TheGameCupboard I've listened to both takes, and I agree that Concrete Jungle is not a perfect game, but since it's the only semi-open-world Predator game with basic platforming, I still like it. I think the perfect Predator game could have a sorta Hitman-stylized sandbox approach where you have multiple ways of killing your prey. I would also have Assassin's Creed-like parkour and free running. But that aside, I really liked the different vision types in the game as well as the cloaking ability. The only other games to implement cloaking before, which I know of, were Perfect Dark (2000), Destroy All Humans (2005), and Halo 2 (2004). The latter two are more contemporary with Concrete Jungle than Perfect Dark is.
Fun fact, during the first Xenomorph level, you can place bombs on the walls while you are climbing. It's night and day easier with this trick. I was playing the level like you until I realized this
Take the story of this game, rebuild in unreal engine 5, tweak the problematic areas of this game and make it open world, update the weapons and I reckon this would be a glorious game
I think you’re being a bit extremely critical for an old game. Btw it’s on Ps2! What do you expect? Do a review on PHG, that game looks beautiful, controls are smooth, and the gameplay is fun, but the games full of flaws and exploits that make it unplayable to some. Oh let’s not forget the game came out 2020 for PS4 and pc. You can’t compare the two ofc cuz of the timeline but both have good and bad you can point out
After experiencing how the Batman Arkham series managed to give us Batman with easy access to a multitude of his gadget arsenal, I wish for modern devs to have a go at Predator
I love this game. No matter what who says. Its a great attempt at being predator. The only thing that overlaps it is AvP 2010 with great Predator Experience
A critical feature you missed in the xenomorph mission is to use the pulse mines against them, especially while you're climbing, as it stuns them and makes them fall. Believe it or not, the best way to handle that mission is to not fight the xenos at all and simply avoid them
The video is great, man! However, I totally disagree. I loved this game, in fact, I think its by far the best predator game. Its up there with the new "Hunting Grounds" game.
bruh I Love LOVE This Game Since I'm a HUGE Fan of the Predator Franchise and I'm pretty expert on the lore. It's my Favorite Game alongside Aliens vs. Predator 2 and Skyrim
Definitely needs a new one. There's so much lost potential here. I recommend the latest Matt McMuscles video, he goes in depth on the development of Concrete Jungle and the game we got is not the game the devs wanted to make.
I was thinking of trying this game out remembering my nephews playing this in my childhood but never asking parents or family to get me this when I was a kid (which good thing considering hooker stuff in this game lol, but then again I had san andreas as a kid so uh, idunno. The whole first decade of the 2000s was, something else) Even got to emulating this and finished a level, but this vid prob saved me time best used on other time wasters or hobbies along with my experience with the clunky mechanics of this. Thanks for the solid review, and found your channel out from this looking up a random retrospectives for this old thing. ^^
Great review! Took me a while to find a good video on this game. Definetly agree with the criticisms, though I will admit I have fond memories of this one.
I loved this game as a kid, but coming back to it as an adult was.... rough. All the points you brought up (weird ethics around drug addiction, the racial stereotypes, the raging misogyny) made this a really hard game to get through, and tbh I couldn't finish it. Great video though, I had a good time watching!
