The way that grizzly bear was flopping and flailing around and basically making a complete fool of himself was pathetic. Mr. Bear, we know you have been speared and we know you are going to die but all that over the top acting is not necessary. I would go as far to say it was a bit overkill.

That opening part of the vid led to recalling a story heard when I was a 20something back late 70s or early 80s. Don't know where in Alaska the story is based but, supposed to be a native method some here may have heard of. Hunter would build a platform adjacent to a bear trail (presumably one with fresh sign. Near nightfall, Hunter would occupy platform with spear (guessing longer than usual) and a cord across trail (something to indicate a presence on the trail?). Hunter would lunge with spear along the cord. Thing is all I recall is the technique. Never heard/read of how successful the technique was.
