*DIODE!! The diode is NOT needed as the rectifier preforms the duty of protecting against back charging. This is a video about the wiring on my predator motor from harbor freight 670cc vtwin. how to
I did a repower restore for my John Deere tractor from a Kohler 12hp to Predator. 670. You video saved me a lot of time. I followed your advice, and it started right up. Now finishing up and get ready for Utah snow! Great post! This ole MSgt is happy camper!
I have no idea where i got the diode but it is not needed! I think it was just on the floor and i thought it was included. The rectifier has a built in diode.
You are a lifesaver. got a wiring harness from VEGAS CARTS ( terrible customer service) company that did not show I needed the yellow and green hooked up. I even returned a perfect engine thinking it was bad as I was not getting fuel. Needless to say, I wasted over 5 hours pulling parts off and back on. but this made it run. Thank you.
@@americanboathead5390 total excitement the second it came to life. We used it for the parade and everyone loved it. also had a big 4th of July party and that thing got a good workout. so far is a great workhorse.
This is AWESOME!! I'm repowering a skid steer with this engine. The box with the controls will be mounted in the operator compartment. This is the first and only breakdown of wiring I've found. It got a thumbs up and I saved the video. Thank you.
Nice!! I only posted the video because I was having a hell of time figuring it out! I wish I would've taken it apart more to show but of well. Good luck with your project!!
Hooking up a fuel pump and magnetic clutch to my Predator. I spliced into the yellow wire that comes out of the ignition (key) box. Seems to work perfectly. Thanks for all your help! (Gonna go clean some carpets with it now)
Currently got a predador 670 to replace my kohler ch20, this video is really helpful and clear, but I seen your comment about the electric clutch, gonna install my 670 on a walk behind heavy duty stump grinder, have you make few adjustments like raise the engine quarter inch and a crank shaft sleeve from 1 to 1 7/16 about 4 inch long so it fits my old clutch and pully wheel, any ways may original harness has a fuse to it ignition and clutch toggle switch on off, but if the clutch is left on or machine dies while the clutch is engaged it won’t start unless it’s off pretty sure it’s a safety measure any info would help out a lot ??
Man, thank you! Was having trouble with one I have had a few years - your video was GREAT and helped me get to the problem…. Like, tag, share, and comment!
Your a savior man! Was attempting to wire this blindly and ended up smoking stock ignition switch. Completely bypassed it thanks to you and this ol" skid steer will run another 10 years thanks to you!!
Thanks! No I don't but I've learned that the rectifier acts as a diode and the one I have is not needed. In fact, I have no clue where it came from! 🤷♂️
You have helped me out tremendously! I bought a go kart tih electric start & multiple lights but all of the wires were disconnected. I can't find a comprehensive wiring diagram but now, I'm confident enough to rewire it myself. Thank you.
End Watched here… I cannot wait to go to troubleshoot my problem of not being able to get my engine started after replacing the factory ignition to a Vegas carts extended ignition… Since then I’ve had nothing but problems trying to start the engine you can hear it try but it just won’t kick in… I believe you helped explain everything in great detail… I should be able to fix this with no problems… Stay tuned… Great video thank you again!
FYI.... watch the entire video if you haven't had coffee yet. This brother did NOT ground out on his beard... thats a mic... guess i'm the only one. #oneistheloniestnumber
Love your wiring description. Maybe one with showing where all the rubber tubing goes. That thing has so many rubber tubes on it . Especially the one vacuum line that goes to the fuel pump.
Its in one (videos are up) but i havent had much progress for a good while.. sadly been working too much. You should check it out and see what you think though!
Gracias len contre el problema Ami motor lo lleve con el mecánico y me dijo que era basura que comprara un honda y mire este video y lo prendí en 5 min
You’re awesome!! Thank you for simple explanation. It was Immensely helpful! After watching this video I self diagnosed a bad fuel solenoid and deleted it. I had no idea what I was doing before the video.
Yes!!! YOU are the reason this video was made! I just thought I'd make the video I wish I could find! This comment makes me feel awesome! Good job fixing your engine!!!
Si i could basically hook this up to my oem harness that goes to ignition low oil light, in my heavy duty walk behind stump grinder, switching from a kohler CH20 to a 670 any info would help, this video is actually really helpful💯 most helpful video I’ve found, very understandable and clear. If any one could help me out thanks l.
Put in the protector motor. 670 was the outside voters regulater. I see how to hook it up. Put it in a 91 easy go golf course. Put it in a ninety one easy go golf court thank you for the help
Got withdrawals. Think I was going to start getting the shakes/twitches. Took the motor and wiring off boat #2 and going to cut the boat up for the dumpster today. Weather is breaking and wife wants the space. I guess I didn't finish the build in time.
The beauty is, you can easily make another better one when the timing is better! I'm thinking of trashing one of mine to free up space! Maybe drop it off a house or something and see how strong it is
Excellent video explanation. I have a Predator engine in a John Deere Tractor. Do you have any idea why when I engage a Electric PTO it kills the engine? Thanks
I built a mud motor. Backwater,670 predator, mikoni carb. I did give you a like, because I plan on replacing the momentary, and the beard. Not the replacing, the mic placement on the beard. Awesome.
bro I am going to overlook the fact that I just got a flashback of nacho libre and satans cavemen when you got up in the camera.....back for that wiring diagram!!!! thanks dude
@@americanboathead5390 No idea. I have a couple of these engines and none have the diode. I'll post the rectifier part number later to compare with yours.
Took out the fuel solenoid and I'm going to fire it up in a little while. I pulled it out took out the spring and the plunger then screwed it back in. It pretty much sucked because I had to tear the engine apart to get to it. I took a picture of it for reference if you want a copy. Sorry it took so long to respond but life got in my way.
My Predator 670 is not running due to a definite shutoff valve solenoid under the carb bowl that is not working. I think it has also caused my engine to shut off in the past. Can I just take the plunger out and put the threaded part in to plug the hole and run it? It's hard to find that solenoid valve. I did install a cutoff valve for the gas before the filter.
So where is the diode between the rectifier and the battery located? I didn't see it when I discombobulated all the wiring to the swich.Repowering an old Kawasaki Mule with this engine.I am simply extending all the existing wiring of the engine to the key switch that I relocated to the dash....
You're the man! I'm using this engine for a skid steer repower, so this was extremely helpful. Quick question, where did you run the ground from the battery? Is that just to a random bolt to ground to motor?
Yeah pretty much any metal part with a bolt should work. I used the bolt on the upper cylinder that held the exhaust can on before i removed it. Good luck with your project!!
@@americanboathead5390 thanks for the quick reply bubba! I wish I never came across your channel though because now I have to build a mini boat too😂😂😂 have you ever seen the belt 3d printers? They print onto a belt so you can print infinitely long parts, been wanting to print a mold then lay some fiberglass on it. Might be something you could do for fiberglass bodies
@protovault3931 leave now friend! Save yourself! I have to warn you, it always starts with one mini boat, but it never ends there... its like a real problem hahaha its one of the most fun easy rewarding things to build! 3d printers are ideal for steering parts! I dont have one mostly because i dont have a good computor nor the knowledge to get my idea into the code/slicer/ magic program lol
@@americanboathead5390 you don't need a good computer to run the printing slicer software. I've been using a Microsoft surface (tablet) to run design software and slicing software for years. You'd be surprised at what low end computers can get away with, the slicing software is free too. Cura slicer has been my go to for a decade
It depends. If it were me, I'd put an open switch on the black coil wire between the coil and a good ground bolt. Then if you push the botton or pull out the safety lanyard clip, it will connect the coil to the ground and it will stop.
Thanks for making the video it helped a lot. I hope it pays off for you in views. Can you clarify the Diode issue? Looking at the parts diagram in the 670cc manual, I see the coil diode (4 wires), but there is no mention of a diode for the charging system. I would think the Voltage Regulator (rectumfryer) should have a built-in diode. Any comment would be appreciated!
Thank you! Yeah apparently there is no need for the diode and another viewer said, like you did that the rectiflyer does that job already lol. I have no idea where the part came from tbh. I should try to put a note on the video! Thanks friend!
Thanks for your time and information was very helpful. Last year I installed a 670cc in a lifted golf cart and found out that it was designed for stationary type of set up(non-pressurized oil system). I'm doing another custom cart but using the 708cc that has a pressurized oil system. The 708cc can keep oil to the important parts while bouncing around. The 670cc every so often experienced performance loss and heating issues when bouncing down the trails. Again thanks for the video. Basically wanted to pass info along and see if you had experienced oil starvation issues?
That is good to know!!! I figured it had some pressure but it must be the flinger type like the smaller engines. I still have yet to use mine for more than 5 minutes so your advice is awesome!!
@@americanboathead5390 For some stupid reason I've gotten into doing dumb things with golf carts the past couple years. I must have had an aneurysm because my other build I've stretched a cart 42", lifted it 12" and installed the engine and transmission from my FLH, and wheelie bars. BTW, your boats are sick. If I can get my daughter to like boating, I have been inspired by your builds.
You basically need to find a way to stop the spark plug from firing. The easiest way is to ground out the coil (the pack at the other end of the spark plug wire.) There is usually a black wire connected to the coil. Then connect a wire from your switch to metal ground. Then find out which pins make it run or stop running. Maybe just use a spark plug so you dont have an engine that wont turn off. You can also hook a zip tie for pulling the wire off the spark plug while running to kill it.
My predator will not start until I turn it over about 20 times with full choke. Then any time you restart it you have to choke it what can I do to make it start like yours thanks jim
Well that means you arent getting enough fuel in one way or another. . Its likely the pilot jet inside the carb is getting gunked up. Or even that it needs to be bigger. Maybe even the idle is set too low? Id for sure take the carb off and the jets out and clean them.
Oh jeeze.. it shouldnt need anything.. are you at a high elevation or is it really cold? Is air filter on? Thats weird. Maybe look into exchanging if possible.
@@americanboathead5390 when I got the 1816b skid steer I took air cleaner off , removed adjustment plugs . Jets were set at three and three and a half, I got it running pretty smooth at two turns out each. I am going to get rid of tiny garden tractor 🚜 battery and put in two 6 volt golf cart batteries, it seems to turn over to slow to start easy, what do you think,I appreciate all your thoughts. Thanks jim
Aye man, im trying to fix my ignition coil WIRES on my predator engine for my zero turn mower. Mouse chewed thru it. I have to make one. And i.m having a hard time with it. I have to re crimp the wire every time to start it.. after it sets over night, it will not start again, no matter what , until i recrimp the wire all over again. Do u know what is going on?! And do i have to have a diode in the wire anywhere cauae there isn't one . Previous owner has already spliced into this one wire in a few places to join wire. I would just buy the whole new wire set up but they discontinued it. Dang i really need help. I have 11 acres to mow and i can not get this wire situation under control.
Thats really weird! You shouldnt need a diode. I messed up and thought mine belonged there. The rectifier performs that function. As far as the coil wire, i dont know exactly what you are saying. Sometimes if a current sparks through a connection, it stops conducting. Maybe solder could help?
I'm just amused that his neighbors are thinking he bought himself a panhead or a bagger, but instead, it's a floater! LOL Omg, there's yer boat name. "Floater"
It's in the boat and hooked to a u joint and a shaft and a propeller! Steering is close but untested... I need gas tank, switches, starter battery. The list goes on 😆 I hope to work on it this summer!
@@americanboathead5390 i have the 670 predator i just picked it up and i was trying to see if it was on there but i didnt see it and i was trying to find it on the internet but couldnt find that exact one
Where did you go man, I’ve missed your helpful videos. I’m constantly using them while building my mini boat. I know you haven’t been getting as many likes or views as you have been, but you shouldn’t be doing these videos for the likes or views, you should make them for people like me who don’t exactly know what we’re doing
Yeah I miss it too! I have plenty of footage and ideas etc. I just don't have time to go through the editing process with working and having two lil hellion boys lol honestly the only reason I even care about the view numbers is because if there were more, I could justify spending time editing and creating... or do it full time! When the kids are older I'll be able to turn out some awesome stuff! Thanks for the kind words and I hope your boat is going great!
Brilliant placement of the lavalier microphone! Switch controlled Juiciness and fried rectum. Wrecked him hell! Damn near killed him! I love the dinner gong at the end. A good End is always worth Watching. I can hardly wait to see this thing out on the water. It's either gonna be so cool it's scary, or so scary it's cool. 😃
If you pull the spark plug ,put it in wire boot and touch it to metal there should be a spark when you crank it. If there is spark and it still doesnt run, then you arent getting fuel
This is getting hard to read. is there a way we can message directly? I also want to draw a schematic to make others lives easier as well as add a few pics I took
