Predicting the AFC South. We break down the AFC SOUTH. Who will win the division, which moves stand out from free agency & the Draft for the Texans, Colts, Titans & Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence got PAID$$$$$. Can quarterback C.J. Stroud play even better in his second season? Tennessee spent a lot of money this offseason, but does anybody know if Will Levis is good? Anthony Richardson returns from injury.

As a titans fan I’ll make my case. They’ll likely have an 11-6 ceiling and a 8-9 floor. Last year the titans nearly won 6 of the games they lost by 1 score. If their offense was even minimally productive they could’ve gone 11-6 and won the division last year, but Mike Vrabel (despite the praise the national media gives him) could not form a consistently good offense during his entire tenure. That’s why he was fired and why the titans failed to go to the big game and yet now they have that. Brian Callahan is a modern offensive mind with experience around great quarterbacks like Burrow and Peyton Manning. He’s exactly what Levi’s needs to thrive on offense and develop into a game winning quarterback, something he already proved he could do against Miami with a truly god awful offensive line. Brian also hired his own dad, legendary o line coach bill Callahan, who’s sure to put rookie JC Latham (who he handpicked over alt) and new center Llyod Cushenberry to good use to improve the titans o line. Remover that he turned the browns squad into a monster and he’ll likely do the same with three young guys on the left side of the line where it matters most. The offense has also greatly improved from last year. The only big loss was king Henry but that was inevitable given the size of any renewed contract and the titans transition to a pass first offense. That’s why GM Ran Carthon drafted running back Tyjae Spears, an elusive pass catching running back who can help Levis get the ball out under pressure. Likewise, he signed Tony Pollard from the Cowboys who fits a similar role as spears if not bit more physical given his play style. Combine that with a good inside runner like Julius Chestnut and you have a solid three man committee to run off of with a proven player like pollard, a younger prospect in spears, and a third option in Chestnut. The wide receiving core has also seen massive improvements. Throughout the past several seasons the titans have struggled to find solid wide outs, starting with Jon Robinson’s terrible decision to trade AJ Brown for a less than adequate replacement in Treylon Burks, and a continual carousel of receivers coming in and out. The only solid signing they’ve had has been D Hop who proved to be in good form last year despite being double teamed on almost every play and with Levi’s sitting behind a collapsing o line. Spacing was the biggest issue for this receiving core last year. D hop getting double covered as the only reliable option made the offense impotent at best and left the other receivers unable to do much. Thus they addressed the problem by signing Calvin Ridley, a receiver who specializes in burning corners with speed, opening up lanes to get himself and others the pall. He’s exactly what the titans needed and he’s backed up by Tyler Boyd, a solid third option who already understands the likely Callahan offense from his time in Cincinnati. Overall I’d grade this offense on paper as a B+. Levis needs to prove himself as the franchise guy and he now should have the line, scheme, and weapons to do that but it remains to be proven which is why they’re a B+ and not an A and certainly not an S. However, one thing is certain and it’s that they will be giving opposing defenses problems come September. On the flip side of the ball the titans defense had two big losses - Denico Autry and Azeez Al-Shair, both of whom signed with the Texans. They made up a fierce front for the titans at defense edge and linebacker respectively and their loss was felt immediately especially Al-Shair. To replace him Carthon drafted Cedric gray. a good prospective linebacker in the fourth round. He may take a year or two to develop but gray Is a solid prospect, and up front Carthon drafted T’Vondre Sweat, a somewhat risky DT pick out of Texas. Sweat has some behavioral and weight issues and missed OTA’s to focus on losing weight and healing from a minor injury. He looked good in mandatories this week and as the SEC defensive player of the year he could prove to be a solid if not great contributor next to Big Jeff, and even a pro bowler if he reaches his potential. With Harold Landry coming back the linebackers and defensive front should be solid but their two losses should still be felt come time to play. However, one thing that absolutely won’t be an issue is the secondary. The titans signed one of the best corners in the game, L’Jarius Sneed, and another great corner, Chidobe Awuzie. Combine that with a good young corner like Roger McCreary and you have a shutdown secondary rivaled only by teams like Cleveland and the Jets. Even better is that they signed Denard Wilson as their D coordinator. He coached the ravens DB’s last year and led a completely shut down unit. He will eat up offenses with this squad and the fact that the titans are still in talks with Justin Simmons AFTER signing Jamal Adams at Safety (who Wilson handpicked) could mean that the titans could have the best secondary in the nfl. Overall I’d give their defense an A. On paper they have one of the best units in the league and it could get even better depending on how free agency finishes out. However, the titans are NOT rebuilding, they’re trying to compete here and now and that’s evident by their signings. With the new offense and their massively upgraded secondary I don’t see them losing anymore than 9 games in an absolute worst case scenario. They can score big time points now and there won’t be times like last year where the offense crapped the bed and lost the game despite the amazing defense. I still think there will be some first year struggles for Callahan and Wilson though so I have them going 10-7 with a ceiling of 11-6 they have a great roster and just need to execute to succeed.
@motivationallizard6644
@motivationallizard6644 Месяц назад
My specific prediction: Week 1 at bears, W. The bears have a rookie QB going up against a terrifying front and a shutdown secondary. I don’t know why people think they’re winning week one especially when Callahan has insisted on tuning up the starters in the preseason. Week 2 vs the Jets, W. Realistically speaking this is Rodger’s first season with the jets following last years disaster. I also don’t think the jets have enough weapons to compete with the titans offense. Their defense is great but their offense is lacking in comparison aside from rogers. Week 3 vs Packers, L 2-1. The packers are a solid team and I think the titans will struggle to stop them. I think the game will come down to a shootout with Jordan loves experience proving to be the deciding factor in the game handing the titans their first l of the season. Week 4 at Miami, W 3-1. They beat Miami last year in an amazing comeback with a substantially worse offense. I think this year they’ll win comfortably against Miami on the road especially since Miami tend to do poorly against teams with winning records. Week 5 bye. Week 6 vs the colts, W 4-1. Last year the colts barely edged out the titans at home but coming off of a bye I think the titans can get it done against a hopefully resurgent Anthony Richardson. At the end of the day the colts have a fantastic offense but I think the titans defense is just that much better in comparison and that’ll seal this game at home. Week 7 at bills, L 4-2. The bills are difficult to beat at home and I don’t think the titans will get it done. I think the game will be somewhat close but this is a game where you look at it and just know there’s going to be something stupid that causes the titans to lose. Week 8 at Detroit, L 4-3. I think Detroit is better and I can’t see the titans beating them on the road it’s that simple. Levis going to get sacked a lot and I think the o line will lose this game for the titans. Week 9 vs the patriots, W 5-3. I think this is gonna be a blowout win coming off of the loss to Detroit. The patriots run an archaic offense and I honestly cant fathom how they’d won this game. Week 10 at the Chargers, L 5-4. This is a game where I think the titans will beat themselves. They’re a much better team than the chargers but I just have that feeling that they’ll somehow bungle the game up and lose. If they reach their speckling though they will likely win this game to go 11-6. Week 11 vs the Vikings, W 6-4. The Vikings are entering a possible rebuild and I honestly don’t think they have much of a chance here, sneed will lock down Jefferson and Levis will drop bombs over the secondary. Week 12 at Houston, L 6-5. I think Houston is just better and this will be a close game but ultimately a loss for Tennessee on the road. Week 13 at Washington, W 7-5. I actually like where Washington is going, they added a lot of guys in the post season, but I think the titans will come out angry from the Texans game and will ultimately put up a lot of points. Week 14 vs Jacksonville, W 8-5. They beat Jacksonville last year at home and stole their best wr. I think the titans will win the game in the stretch beating Jacksonville at home. Week 15 vs Cincinnati, L 8-6. This could be a game where the titans upset Cincinnati but I think Zac Taylor will ultimately beat his former coordinator, but it could go either way. Week 16 at Indy, L 8-7. I think the colts will rally to a crucial win for the post season here. The titans also tend to have a tough time at Indy so I think they’ll lose on the road. Week 17 at Duvall, W 9-7. Yes I have the titans sweeping yen jags. I don’t think the jags have the necessary roster to outplay Tennessee and I think the titans will win on the rode. Week 18 vs Houston, W 10-7. I think Levis gets revenge on Stroud in this game. It’ll be close and come down to a field goal or a miracle play but Tennessee will beat their division rival at home.

The Titans are the most underrated team going into this year imo. I like their coaching staff moves (OLine and DC especially) and they have way more talent across the board than people realize - many good players that are not household names as well as vets flying under the radar. I think they will win 8-10 games. Divisional games are huge for predicting records, so I appreciate you going through the schedule. I bet they will win 3 of their 4 matchups versus the colts/jags but will likely be swept by Houston. But, it is possible that Houston is resting/coasting in week 18 which would change things. Conversely, it is possible that Callahan is simply not a good head coach or that Levis is a bottom 10 starter, either of which would torpedo their chances.

The Titans have the best offense they've had since Year 2 AJ Brown. Levis is the most talented QB to play for the Titans since Steve McNair. The defense was good last year. The Titans went out and added CB help in Sneed. The Titans will be a lot better on 6 the defense will be top 12. Titans finish 2nd and no lower than 3. People are way too low on the Titans.
