The survey was BEFORE 2018-19 season Jokic and the Nuggets hadn’t made the playoffs yet (Wind said it was AFTER the Playoffs vs Spurs Blazers, but that’s not correct). They beat the Spurs and lost in 7 to Blazers at the END of the 2018-19 season not BEFORE. Jokic hadn’t made an All Star game yet and his career stats were 15, 9, 4 at the time. He was def getting better every year from 15-16 to 16-17 to 17-18 and he should of been on the breakout list, but important to note where he was in his career going into 2018-19 as compared to after it. The whole segment is wrong bc of that😅. Had it been before the 19-20 season you’d be correct, but I imagine if you did this survey before 19-20 season Jokic would of been on it as he averaged 20, 11, 7, 2 stocks in regular season, was first team all nba, 4th in MVP and in his first playoffs (at the END of 2018-19 season) he averaged 25, 13, 8, 2 stocks on 51/39/85 in 14 playoff games. LeBron being 40th in 5yrs in 18-19 shows he always blows away expectations for him then when he exceeds them media never admits they were wrong then moves the goalposts again. They did/do it with Jokic also. Lebron getting 3rd team all nba yr this yr instead of 2nd over Kawhi or even Durant (who he was better across the board in and played more) an example of the media (voters) hate from ppl like Simmons (who hates LeBron bc Bron lead teams knocked out his Celtics 5x from 2011-2018 including 3 ECF, 2 of which Celtics were up 3-2 with chance to win game 6/7 at home to go to finals). LeBron by nearly important metric (EPM, EstimatedWins, BPM, PER, VORP last year was clearly a top6-10 player in the NBA). He was 6th in EPM, 6th in EW, 6th in BPM, 6th in PER, & 7th in VORP, 9th in OnOff (for elite players who made all star game)! He was one of 3 players to avg 25+ 7+ 7+ along with Joker Luka! He was first player EVER to avg 25+ 8+ apg shooting 40+% from 3. He was better than everyone on 2nd team all nba in 23-24 analytically besides Brunson and AD in a few categories. I get many Jokic fans hate LeBron, but they are way more alike (on the court) than not alike. Both have horrible whistles since 18-19 (only 5.9 FTA per game when they get hacked a ton in the paint), both God tier IQs, both underrated by many in the media since 18-19, both let down by their teammates a lot the last 6yrs, both unreal stat stuffers & value/impact metrics at their best etc etc.
In two years, I can still see the Nuggets being good along with the Thunder, Spurs, Dallas in the west. In 5 years, I can see the Spurs, Dallas, and Utah being good. I think the Nuggets will still be contenders with Jokic but not top top tier contenders.
Why are you so sure that Nikolq will be in Denver for a 5 years more? I would love like all Serbian...Balkan ppl to see Nikola and Luka play together. That is what we want...but, should you be so sure that he will be in Denver for next five years...hmmm, I can bat on it that he will not. He has contract until the end of 2026/2027 season...am sure that he will not stay in Denver after that. Until then so many things will change...I do not care about the team until Nikola and Luka play together.
Its kind sad that Jokic best years are kind behind him and waisted 4 out 5 of them on experimentation off Bol bol Facu Aston R 3 back surgery MPJ and ACL Jamal.. Reality is if he stays with DN for next 5 years they at this state would be waist of his prime but now on project dynasty..He will not be able to win nothing ever again with this team..
Unless MPJ makes some major steps to improve, the recent draft picks all show out, and Murray actually comes into the season in shape and able to play 70 or more games, then Jokic probably needs to keep a trade demand in his back pocket if he wants to contend for championships on the backside of his NBA career.
