I wish I would’ve read this prior to me using pliers...mine will not fit back in. I have ordered a new yellow squib connector at the cost of $70. It’s a simple easy connector to push up and remove. A panel remover tool is the best tool to pry it up and off. Please edit this video. Hard way for people to learn. Everything else was helpful though.
Thanks GINCO ! I was wondering why my C240 had power at the PreFuse box but most of my fuses in the other boxes aren't receiving power. I suspected a high powered starter fuse or Starter relay. I will once again check my fuses then test all my relays then I will check the PreFuse box. Once again thanks, your video was definitely needed for the Mercedes owners.
Interesting video, thanks! For others: This is the pre-fuse box F32 (Vorsicherungsdose). It also contains a relay that, when faulty, can cause all kind of weird fault messages when turning power on in the car. Fault code B214B72 / A14B72 can be a hint for this.
mnemo70 Yeah, no one had a video for opening this up, and a lot of people on forums wouldn’t touch it because it’s non-serviceable. It’s really just a few fuses and relays, nothing crazy about it, no need to be afraid of it.
I think this is a crappy design by MB. I had the airmatic compressor fail, and it blew a fuse in the prefuse box at the same time. Instead of having a normal fuse in the power supply it just doubled the price of the repair. Thank you for the video Ginco. Now i will repair the old box and have as a spare.
I agree, it is a pretty dumb design. The chances of the car having a major fault that would blow one of these without blowing other fuses is very low, and the fact that it’s supposed to be irreplaceable is dumb as well.
Hi mate ,I have similar problem with my w212. My compressor stop working when my battery was flat. I tested with star diagnosis and I have two fault codes . Valve on compressor could be a issue , and 2nd fault is level pressure air valve between air struts. I can hear sound from compressor when is tested by star diagnosis. Do you remember what was symptoms in your car? Can you help?
@@charlitolson7316 On mine the compressor had locked up an drawn too much current resulting in a blown fuse. There is an air filter on the compressor air intake that is often neglected. this can cause the compressor to draw dirty air and wear out prematurely. Also the intake hose can crack and give the same result..
I don't understand the instructions at the beginning. Shouldn't the voltage at the fuse box be 12V? So how can you do a continuity test between HOT 12Vs and battery negative? Wouldn't that result in a short circuit?
You are correct, I should have said to disconnect the positive wire and test by connecting the multimeter to the positive battery clamp. However, I think it’s pretty obvious you should completely disconnect, even remove the battery before doing anything involving fuses.
I know this video was a few years ago. Do you have part numbers for all the fuses in side the Pre Fuse Box? Really need the information on the 7 terminal orange fuse and the 3 blade orange fuses that are connected to it?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Please I have a problem with my Mercedes w204 2009 320 4matic. After going through water flood, the AC stop blowing cold and compressor wont start, when I check the compressor it work manually and ac blowing cold. All fuse are good, do you think my problem maybe in the Prefuse Box? Many thanks.
I have a question I have a CL500 2003 Mercedes I'm trying to find out what powers pin 30 on the starter relay what wires that's going to the fuse box under the seat
Lol what help am I supposed to give? If this video isnt good enough you need to take it to a shop, if you're inexperienced you will damage the car more.
I hope you see this video, how exactly do you test fuses while this box is still installed in the engine bay? You mention this at 5:04 that you figured out already which fuse was blown while in the car. Thanks
I'm not getting no power I blew a fuse the starter relay I know it's probably a short somewhere but I cannot figure it out I cannot power my seats up to move them out to get the carpet up to get to the back fuse and the wires under the carpet
On a w203 can the prefuse cause the engine fan not to work I’m getting 14volts with the car on everyone but the power wire to the cooling fan and there’s a coolant visit workshop on the dash and a p2073 fan code on my mb scanner and I put 2 fans in it
Hi ginco thanks for the video. But please help me. My W204 2010 I have low voltage next to nothing on the lower right side fuses most are 7.5amp those are powered by the red and white cable. And that cable has no power. I opened the prefuse all fuses are gud but I don't get current as from the beginning of the cable please advise me what must be wrong There
Hi. I just checked as you suggested in the video. There is no beep with either terminal. the car runs normally. All systems go. All 3 points show battery voltage. I assume you check it while a key is not on contact? I still have "Fault code: A19116 Fault: The power supply of circuit 30g is outside the valid range. The limit value for electrical voltage has not been attained, Fault code: A10C16 Fault: The power supply is outside the valid range. The limit value for electrical voltage has not been attained." and some others. No check engine or other codes. What does that mean?
This is a very good video. I helps me a lot to understand why there is no power supply to a lot of my devices in my 2013 Mercedes GLK250 after jump start. I suspect I have some fuse blown in the prefuse box. I don't quite understand why it suppose to have continuity between ground contact and the other contacts. In between, there suppose to have a battery, isn't it? Or, do you mean check continuity when the vehicle is turned on?
Hello mate i would like to ask if thats instruction make sort out a error code of b2735-13,the squib for pyrofuse on board electrical network line has a malfunction.I really mad for this i couldnt erase it from memory. Many thanks
@@aameral-ghazali2495 Hello.Yes I sort out a problem you have to buy resistor 1.6ohms and solder it to cable who is going to pyrofuse on (plus battery clamp),first you have dissconnect a battery.thats the way to sort it.Cheapest and more solid way.Problem is in that plug black yelow orange blue color. Some of connection is loosing when is a vibration from engine or different sources
If the car doesn’t start and all of your fuses are working. Check the posts on the top of the prefuse box with a multimeter to see if they’re actually working.
I have a 2004 W211 E270 CDI auto and am looking for the front pre-fuse arrangement. Looked on the side of instrument panel and under footwell of passenger. Not what I am after. Am after the seriously rated fuses. The official Haynes manual is pathetic. Please help. Pierre.
Actually I'm a rewire and I'm going interesting in this lecture so I will like to know if there is type use to lecture people just for me to be inform anytime of lecture so can be a partaker. Thank you
I'm having some issues with a constant 12v after replacing my OEM stereo. It seems that the terminal that is closed to the windshield drops to around 1.5 volts a few minutes after the ignition is switched off and this causes my stereo memory to be erased. Most of the power, including lights, and seats are pretty much gone after this happens. The power resumes after opening the door or unlocking/locking the car though. When the voltage drops/rises, I hear a small pop or click just behind the battery. Seems like some thing is switching off after some time of the ignition going off. I'm not sure if this is normal or if the prefuse is bad. Could anyone check on their car to see if this is normal?
It’s normal. You need to find a proper constant 12v, yours is most likely wired to the cigarette lighter which is only on when the car is on. Find one that is constant or wire directly to the battery.
Good afternoon, I have a mercedes c300 2009, it did not want to start again, I have the high-beam light on, the srs light, the front and interior light does not turn on, the panel light turns on, it does not make a clip when trying to start it, some solution
