Hi Sonia, we didn’t pay any charges to hospital. They send everything to Medibank . For outpatient charges some amount is covered.

@@kendikamathi2196hello, Yes so basically the whole procedure includes 10-12 antenatal visits to an obstetrician and every obstetrician at every private hospital charges differently. Also you need to have a few blood and urine tests done as well as ultrasounds. You can check with your insurance which pathology and radiology clinics are cheapest for you with your level of cover. Also, you can e-mail public hospitals and ask what they charge for antenatal visits with obstetricians or midwife, the epidural etc. I called my insurance and they told me they only cover fully for the accommodation at the hospitals that are in agreement with them. For public hospitals there would be bigger out of pocket costs for me with no medicare and only private health insurance. I chose to go to POGS for antenatal care (private) and SJOG hospital for delivery (private) as it will cost less for me according to my insurance policy. I recommend calling your insurance company and ask them if they recommend you go private or public. They will be able to give the best advice. Either way you first have to find an obstetrician you like in your area by either searching the provider search on your insurance's website or on Google. Then you can read more about which hospital(s) that specialist attends and then discuss about the hospital with your insurance. There might be specialists that have an agreement with your insurance company to charge you no out of pocket fees but that wasn't the case for me. You can ask your insurance about that too. For me SJOG hospital has an agreement with my insurance so there will be no out of pocket fees for my delivery and stay at the hospital. However I have to pay some out of pocket fees for my antenatal visits with my OB as well as some pregnancy management fees (about 3000-5000 AUD). Hope that helps :)

After completing the waiting period usually the insurance cover the expenses. If you have any doubts check your policy letter

you have to confirm with insurance provider regarding pregnancy cost cover / or is there any waiting period on tourist visa (also do they cover that or not). It should be better to have Medicare first.. I hope this helps.

If you are PR holder and pay medical levy’s then it won’t cost much. Upto $1000 depends upon your medical condition.

If your waiting time is not over then you have to pay a good amount on your delivery. Or speak to your insurance provider if they can consider you.

@@thirumalarao2245 You can ask them to provide the list of services they are offering or ask them for a written document. Usually with insurance there will a policy letter which indicates regarding all the services they cover.

Your insurance cover after 12 months period of your stay. if the visit of GP is before that then you have to pay, insurance will not cover.

hi Leena, glad you like our video. yes, you can add your baby in your existing health insurance policy. for us it was around 270$ per month for family of 4. there are few insurance provider here like Medibank and bupa. we had Medibank for long time. Hope this helps.

Without insurance it’s very costly here . If your pregnancy is all good no diabetic issues or not any other and if it will be normal delivery still it cost around 7-8k

No it’s not Medicare. you have to take private insurance. Check the pregnancy conditions with your insurance usually it’s 1 year waiting for pregnancy.
